Description

Specialties

Hello. I’m Harel Temples, Center Director of Mathnasium of West Boca Raton, your neighborhood math-only learning center. We help kids in grades K-12 understand math by teaching the way that makes sense to them.

We pinpoint your child’s learning needs, meet them where they are, and take them where they need to go.

Mathnasium instructors use our unique assessment process to determine (with great accuracy) exactly what each child knows and what they need to learn. Next, we design a customized learning plan for teaching the concepts the student needs to master. It doesn’t stop there — our encouraging instructors continually check progress along the way to make sure kids truly understand and retain the concepts we’ve taught. The results are transformative — kids will see measurable changes in attitude, confidence, and school progress.

Our instructors will also set aside time to provide homework help. We help kids understand the homework assignment so they feel better prepared to complete the work at home — underscoring their understanding of concepts and transforming homework frustration into a welcomed challenge.

History

Established in 2002.

More than forty years ago, math educator Larry Martinek was inspired to find a better way to teach children math.

As a classroom teacher, teacher-trainer, and consultant in public and top private schools – and father to a mathematically gifted son – Larry possessed a uniquely comprehensive view of education. He saw a troubling theme in mathematics instruction: a serious disconnect between the students’ basic skills training and the curriculum they were expected to master in the years to come. They weren’t being prepared properly for their future.

Larry set out on a mission: to find an approach that would provide children with the strong foundation they needed to succeed. Over the next three decades, he painstakingly developed and assembled a blend of methods and materials. Instead of relying on traditional rote memorization and repetitive exercises, Larry’s work focused on helping children understand math by honing their math instincts and getting them to think like mathematicians.

Meet the Manager

Harel T.

Manager

Harel is a former math teacher from Plantation who has studied Math, Economics and Engineering at the schools Duke, Carnegie Melon and Kettering University before getting his BSBA in Economics from the University of Central Florida. Prior to graduating he began tutoring his fellow students, beginning his 10+ years of experience as a math tutor. As a teacher, he taught a wide range of subjects in both public and private schools in South Florida covering the gamut of math classes. While working for Broward County he underwent training as a gifted instructor, which came as a natural fit since he came up through the program as a student himself. He was also a participant in the MEGSSS program, the precursor to the modern day GEM program. Educating others has always come as a natural fit for Harel, since he has a passion for sharing his knowledge with others.
