Awesome place, knowledgeable staff and great atmosphere. Went here off a Groupon, it was definitely worth the money.

I can honestly say from all the great reviews on Unilocal,that I probably set my expectations too high for Barrel of Monks. In a word, I was disappointed. The décor was immaculate, the high light of my visit here was the restroom. The beer was okay. We did flights and of all the beers I think I liked two. I honestly was underwelmed because for the life of me I can’t remember any of the beers names. It would be a cool place to meet with a small group of friends. And lastly, I REALLY hated the music… Johnny Cash played for the hour or so we were there. 5 minutes of Johnny is enough for me. Maybe will give this brewery another chance, but probably not anytime soon.

This place is decorated so nicely, I love the breweries that actually make an effort to focus on the location to make it a nice place to hang out.
We ended up visiting 30 minutes prior to closing but the bartender was super nice. He literally let me try almost all their beers before I made my decision. Very helpful and knowledgeable!
I loved that this place specialized in Belgium beers, as it’s my favorite! Definitely a must and worth the visit!!!

No skimping on the décor in here! It may look like you’re entering yet another warehouse brew joint, but don’t be fooled. This place is super classy! From the chandeliers and leather studded furniture to the utmost cleanliness and sophisticated card games, Barrel of Monks does not hold back.
The bartenders are incredibly friendly. My girlfriend and I started playing a card game at the bar the bartender asked to join in. We laughed and laughed and laughed (it was also super busy. He managed to tend to the bar and amuse us in the mean time).
We had a Groupon and took the brew tour. I LOVED the tour guide!!! He was incredibly knowledgeable and not afraid to shut up the annoying people on the tour who kept talking. We really got a great knowledge of not only beer in general but of Barrel of Monks.
This is a place I will definitely frequent again. Come and enjoy!

The thing that stands out here is the beauty of this place. It strikes me as a city tavern in New York or Boston or Milwaukee. The attention to detail is impressive … Even the bathrooms. Clearly, the gold standard when it comes to tasting rooms.
I tried a flight, with the Scotch Ale (Monk) being my favorite. I ordered a full beer of that after sampling it.
Brian and Andrew were extremely helpful, as well as entertaining. Very funny gents. They were kind enough to let me freely sample a beer that wasn’t flowing correctly, plus hooked me up with another sample.
Like all micro-​breweries, the inside lends itself to really good conversations with beer-​loving patrons like myself. The topic? What else other than micro-​brews and places to go in South Florida. I have become an expert on the topic, having visited virtually every craft-​brewery place from Donald Ross Road to South Miami.
I appreciated my conversation with fellow beer-​lover Sam, whose knowledge on micro-​breweries in South Florida rivaled mine. Her Sybarite Pig recommendation was appreciated. The gentleman and woman to my left commented on how hookah (the process of it) is not like cigarette smoking. Still not sure I completely grasp its allure.
Looking forward to returning to sample more beers. Enjoyed my visit here. Very friendly place with good beer and good conversation. Loved the interior.

The beer is pretty good but this place is very small with a interesting décor. The problem is the bartenders are very unfriendly and hard pressed to serve you beer. I’m a guy and have never seen this attitude before. The management needs to have the staff take courses in customer attitudes and why they are in business. The place hopefully has a future but it needs to change.

With all the local breweries popping up in South Florida — Barrel of Monks was placed on our radar through non other than Unilocal. Now, the location is a bit strange for us — but I guess it makes sense for the surrounding business people after getting off from work. So, I was pretty hyped up to give it a try — and while the location from the outside gives the corporate feely vibe — the inside WOW’ed me! The décor and set up was on point… I mean, they really put a lot of thought into setting up the trendy feel… from the chairs, tables, light fixtures, bar area… very nice touch!
Since on Fridays I typically work remote, the wife and i usually set up shop for a few hours at a brewery or local restaurant. We ordered a flight to see the different type of beers that they had to offer. They didn’t have a very large selection but nonetheless, had a nice amount some potency. The sound level and ambience when we first arrived was very nice and chill… however, within 30 – 45 minutes a nice crowd of people started to arrive and the place started to get pretty packed.
Originally we had someone come out and help us — but once the crown appeared and the place began to look like a sardine can and we had to make our way up to the bar to cash out. We made the decision to exit as for us the amount of people and noise level were a bit much but not saying that it’s not for other people. The place was slamming and people were enjoying themselves, talking &mingling.
I will say, that it’s definitely a hidden gem brewery — that I would have never thought would have existed in Boca…

This place is for now a little hidden gem but rightfully blowing up through word of mouth, so I suppose I can now review. The atmosphere is versatile in that you could come after work to have a calm wind-​down over a delicious brew or you could come by on a Saturday night when it’s upbeat and busier. The brews are legitimate Belgian and though they aren’t the standard high percentage you’ll find in Europe, this place is as close as they come! I haven’t been to any brewery up till now that offers such a variety of Belgians in terms of flavor, hops, and strength. While most newer popup breweries are having difficulty in finding out what people like most Barrel of Monks took the guessing game out of play and has provided a more than substantial amount of options that seem to remain on tap regularly. Whether you’re just starting out and/​or have lots of driving to do you can sip on a saison or singel, if you want wholesome flavor but still aiming for a lighter beer, you can choose a dubbel, etc. They also have a delicious tripel, and my all time favorite is the quadrupel — the Quadraphonic :). Also, I really love that there are food trucks available, we have amazing Cuban food from one recently.
A friend of mine is the ambassador here and I’m very fortunate for him introducing us.
If I had any suggestions, I would say that I would like to see special events and gaming options available (i.e. Funky Buddha/​Bangin’ Banjo layout). Can they fit a shuffleboard anywhere???

I’m a big fan of Barrel of Monks. They make terrific Belgian-​styled beer, whether it’s their Nuance Saison, White Wizard Witbier, or Abbey Terno Dubbel for starters. Nestled in a nondescript commercial office building off of Clint Moore Road, Barrel of Monks is certainly a hidden treasure with gorgeous dark interior, chandelier lighting and a combination of sofas, ottomans and bar stools that make up the taproom. Whether you’re hanging out with friends or want to grab a couple of pints while catching up on some reading, BoM is a keeper.

Had to hit the update button and bump them up the 5 stars they rightfully deserve. I came in again this past week and got a flight — at the suggestion of Zac, I went with the Single, Dubbel, Triple and instead of the suggest Quad went with the Raspberry Quadraphonic. This is deff the way to go if it’s your first visit — you get a nice sense of what their beers are like. They were all great.
After the flight I went to my favorite — Parade Of Souls. This might be one of the better stouts out. Technically they call it a Belgian Imperial Stout. It packs a punch at 10%, sip this one and enjoy it.
More than anything I guess I had forgotten how gorgeous this venue is — and luckily I came on day they weren’t too packed so the noise level was not a problem. This is by far the swankiest tap room I’ve ever been in. The woods, the lighting, the seating… it’s not big, but big enough — and has such a cozy feel to it. The bathrooms are also incredibly nice… something else you don’t usually see at a brewery lol
Stoked to rediscover these guys after taking a 6 month hiatus, and I’ll be back soon!

This place is located in an unexpected neighborhood and the front of the store doesn’t even look like a brewery/​bar but when you walk in, oh wow! The décor is so classy from the leather chairs, the barrel top wall decors, to the lights made of bottles. Even the bathrooms are super nice! I tried the raspberry quadraphonic beer which was pretty good. They don’t serve food here but they have menus from nearby restaurants that deliver so we ordered some pizzas and drank beers. I would definitely come back to try other beers here.

This is one of those reviews I struggle with because I LOVED the place so much, I almost don’t want to tell the masses so I can keep it my little secret!
After attending a beer event nearby (ok not that nearby lol) friends suggested we head up to Barrel of Monks to continue our afternoon of beer. You guys already know I’m no beer lover but I was happy to keep the party going. I’d heard of Barrel of Monks before and imagined it was just your regular warehouse brewery in South Florida with perhaps a few gimmicky monk themed items.
Well, I was wrong! Ok, yes, this place is located in another «off the beaten track» warehouse/​commercial office area. But inside is so different from any other brewery I’ve been to. Honestly, all of us in attendance who hadn’t been here before just kept exclaiming how absolutely gorgeous this place is! We felt like we had been transported to an upscale winery in Napa! Even the bathrooms were dripping with sex appeal.
Ordering was done up at the bar which boasts two flat screen tvs with their beer listings. Sadly they didn’t have any sours when I was there (they had literally just run out) so I tried my luck with the Raspberry Quadraphonic. Ok, not quite my thing, so I inquired about wine. They had a Sauvignon Blanc, a Pinot Noir and a split Prosecco, and since it was Sunday Funday I went with the sparkling option ;).
By this point we were feeling a bit famished and inquired about food. Menus for the local businesses were produced and we were able to order a few pizzas for delivery. Must note, they didn’t just hand us regular menus. Someone here has taken it upon themselves to retype out local menus and put them into a classy folder. Again, this place is CLASSY!
As Barrel of Monks is participating in Unilocal’s Local Beer Week, some took advantage of the half off beer flights and I managed to coerce Michael C. into adding the Father Christmas to his flight. I’ve tried some specialty Christmas wines before so trying a Christmas beer sounded like something worth doing! I was right, the beer was spot on, and yes I still contend that it tasted like «Harry Potter» lol.
The staff was great with handling our separate checks and making beer suggestions.

I did see a few guests ordering the bottle/​gift bag set which was gorgeous! Definitely a great present for anyone who is into beer!

Barrel of Monks Brewing was a great surprise. For two reasons: 1.) This does not look or feel like a local brewery, but a comfortable intimate wine bar!!! 2.) It is only about five minutes from my office in Boca Raton!!! Second big discovery on the first day of Unilocal Local Beer Week!!!
After our event at another tremendous local brewery in Pompano Beach we all decided to head over to Barrel of Monks to continue to enjoy each other’s company and try some new local beers. I am very familiar with this office park off of East Rogers Circle as it has been my stomping ground for almost 30 years, but last year when Barrel of Monks opened, I paid no attention to this great place. I remember their opening but really made no effort to go. Well, today I see what I missed!!!
Located in a large office park, you walk in to here and see a dark, intimate bar with a beautiful lit up display of all their beers they make right there. Off to the right there are comfortable couches around a large table and atamans to sit with your friends and enjoy their flights of beers or glasses of beers. It is always good to share a flight of beer!!! They really make you feel so at home here. You can move the atamans up to the table if you like to fit more people as we did today. The chandeliers are beautiful, dimly lit crystal like in the middle surrounded with dark beer bottles hanging and surrounding the lighting. On the left side of the bar they have more seating and a TV for sports fans. Absolutely on the opposite spectrum of the warehouse breweries we see popping up all over. This place is definitely a «hang» for beer lovers. Small, intimate and really comfortable place to hang out and enjoy new craft beers.
Interesting beers to say the least. My friend Hiram recommended the Quandrum which had a sweet nice flavor to it, but opted for a beer even more to my liking, the Raspberry Quadraphonic. Love the names of these beers. I loved both, and as we sat around the couch making jokes, I was still interested in learning more about how this place works. They have a 4 flight beer sampler for 10.00 that really has a much larger pour than what I have seen. If you check in on Unilocal during the Unilocal Local Beer Week, you can get 50 percent off these flights one time if you check in on Unilocal.I resorted to my other friend, Patrick to pick 4 beers for my flight and within the four I tried, they made a special XMAS beer, that actually smelled like a fresh Christmas tree and tasted pretty «festive» as well. Really enjoyed all four of the flights.
A lot of us also had a choice to order a great Prosecco and we went through quite a few of those as well.
After tasting these flights and knowing what you like there are beers they sell to take out, specific offers for two 750 ml bottles for 18.99 and there are real nice gift bags you can carry out with them. All the pricing on the beautiful lit up price list above the bar gives you the prices by the glass, 32 and 64 ounce growlers, and 750 ml bottles.
They do not serve food here, but they make it really convenient to order in food. They have a booklet of restaurants put together; pizza, sushi, hamburgers from local restaurants that will bring the food in to you, serve it on the table or bar, no problem.
The staff: super friendly. Very accommodating and also relaxed as they blended in with us as we ordered from the bar and got a great deal of information on their beers.
I have yet to learn a lot more about Barrel of Monks Brewing, would love a tour and to hear their story, but I know that this is a secret I probably should not of let out of the bag!!!

Adventuring on a Sunday afternoon with fellow Elite Reixa C. and we decided to cross Barrel of Monks off our ‘local breweries to visit’ list. Typical local brewery location in a business/​commerce park area. Honestly, the best way I can describe it is like a mullet… business in the front, party in the back! LOL! Seriously! You walk up to the location thinking, what kind of weird office space am I walking into? And when you open the door it’s like a beer themed ski lodge! Their tasting room is definitely one of the nicest I’ve seen and been in. Absolutely beautiful! The décor is so comfortable and inviting and they have great accent pieces that literally make you feel like you’re at a ski lodge in Vail! There’s also a HUGE television on the back wall; great for watching sporting events!
Their beers are all Belgian-​style ales which is slightly outside my comfort zone when it comes to beer but I decided to try a flight to see what I liked. (FYI — That means no IPA’s for us hop heads!) The beersI tried were: the Cinnamon Koffie Saison, Endless Enigma BPA, Abbey Terno, and Three Fates. The Cinnamon Koffie Saison was probably my favorite overall! I didn’t think I liked coffee flavored beer but I always seem to amaze myself in this arena. I also tried a few beers from Rei’s flight; the White Wizard, Vanilla Koffie Porter (my second favorite), and Father Christmas which were all outstanding! The Endless Enigma BPA was the bartenders suggestion for me since it was the closest to the IPA style I liked. I have to admit, that was my least favorite out of all the ones I tried! Like most local breweries, they do not have a kitchen for food but I was also surprised to see that they didn’t have a food truck on-​site which is a norm for most. They do have a menu of local restaurants that deliver though which is a pretty decent option but I hope they decide to work something out with a food truck that would pair nicely with their beers.
Overall, this is a fantastic brewery! They have a very comfortable atmosphere in their tasting room and from the looks of it an awesome operation going on behind the scenes. Their beers were outstanding and I was surprised that I liked so many even though Belgian style isn’t normally my thing. Will definitely be back very soon!

¹¹⁄₂₉ — The tasting room is the most elegant room in a brewery I’ve ever seen. It felt like we were in Colorado and it was snowing outside. Although, the décor is fancy, it is very comfortable. They already had their Christmas decorations up with lights and Christmas trees.
We sat in the plush couch area. After sitting for a couple of minutes we realized there was only one person working at the bar so we walked up there and started our order. They do strictly Belgian-​style ales. I definitely knew I wanted a flight. My flight included; 1. White Wizard, Wit 5.5% ABV, 2. Vanilla Coffee Porter, 3. Three Fates, Tripel 9% ABV and 4. Father Christmas, spiced Belgian quadruple. My favorite has to be the White Wizard, it is very light and crisp. The Father Christmas was incredible, if you could bottle Christmas in a beer, this is it!!!
They are not set up to serve food, however, they do have a nice menu of different restaurants and items within those restaurants that you can have food delivered to you. There were no food trucks the day we went. This was ok since we had gone to brunch prior.
I highly recommend coming here with friends and sharing a few beers. Take a few growlers home. I wish I would of taken Father Christmas with me but there is still time!

Nice brewery tucked away in a Boca Raton warehouse/​industrial area. Walking into the place presents a elegant trendy bar area. Definitely not what you would expect from the outside plain warehouse looking front. Needless to say I was surprisingly delighted.
Not sure which of the many Belgian craft beers I should try, my friend and I opted to go for two flights of 4 beers each. I liked all but 1 of my 8 choices. Between the two of us we had 12 different beers. We both will be back to try more.
There are 3 different seating choices. High tops, bar itself and couches. We decided to lounge out in the couch area, which was a good choice for relaxation after a long work week.
I wish they had their own food, like other breweries in the area. Hopefully this will not be their downfall, because their beer is great. There was a hot dog cart out front, so we were able to get some food while there.
It was very busy there on Friday until about 8pm. I assume people come after work for a few drinks, but then leave to find dinner elsewhere.
All in all it was good. But I will eat before I go next time.

Wow! Once you open there door you are teansp o red to a classy bar over sea’s. It’s gorgeous the attention to detail is exquisite from the chandelier to the seating it is perfect to set a romantic mood perfect for date night

When in Boca got to stop at Barrel of Monks

Definitely one of the nicest breweries I’ve been too. Their bar area is amazing and feels more like a bar then a brewery. They are not open late they close at 9pm on weekends. But we were there with plenty of time to try a couple flights.
I pretty much tried all the beers they had to offer. This is a Belgian style brewery. They sell flights of 4 for 10 bucks. Most of their beers are high in ABV (upwards of 6.5). My favorite I tried was the Quadraphonic. The BFs fave was the endless enigma which is a British pale ale.
As most breweries it’s a little hard to find in an industrial area off Rogers cir. No food or food truck when we were there. Definitely check this new brewery on the block as they have some solid beers.

I was so happy to have joined them on their grand opening. My Mother and I arrived early, so we had no problem with parking. It’s in a very hidden location, and I can really see this as being a great beer destination for Boca Raton residents. The décor is rustic but funky and «classy.» For the event, we bought tickets for $ 5 per glass and the size of the pour depended on the strength and style of the beer.
We enjoyed their Quadrupel, Tripel, Dubbel, Parade of Souls and Jasmine Wizard. The tripel, dubbel and quad were your traditional beers with impeccable flavors, but the Parade of Souls was a blend of a bold stout and a quad with a less raisin-​y flavor. It was really unique, and it was my favorite of the day. New Times was there giving out prizes, I got to listen to two great bands and there were 4 food trucks. I got to try the delicious beer battered cheese curds from Wholesome Rollers, and I also got to sample a few beers from their guests.
Overall, this was a fun block party. I ran into some friends briefly, and met new people. I would love to come again when they tap some more innovative/​original beers.

Went to the grand opening on Saturday.
The brewery is located in an industrial park, and with all the parking spaces around that are vacant on weekends, there is a lot of space for the event. There were several food trucks, a big tent with tables and park benches, pot-​o-​lets, water fountains for glass rinsing, monks walking around for photo ops, beers pouring inside the taproom and out in a van… overall, a well organized event. Except that the guest taps ran out way early, I arrived around 3, and didn’t see any at all. I didn’t mind too much as I’ve never tried any of BoM’s own beer so there’s enough for me to sample already.
This brewery specializes in Belgian style ales, using European ingredients and recipes. Check out their website, they have very detailed information about their brews. Of the ones I tried, the Quadraphonic and Jasmine Wit (a special release) are my favorite. Especially the jasmine wit. I am partial to jasmine aroma, but this one is really lovely, expertly crafted, very nature, floral but not perfumy, distinctive but not overpowering.
The taproom is elegant and classic, with chandeliers and dark wood. Quite different in styles from the other local breweries such as LauderAle or Wakefield. I’m from Miami, so I won’t be a regular, but I’d totally recommend a visit for any beer lover.
