my son goes to school at isu, he has a bmw, it is always breaking down, the owner has been very faIr with my son on the diagnosis and what he needs to repair and the cost. my son brought his suv in by tow truck, steve fixed it, my kid had no $$, so he said take it, i’ll call your dad and dont worry about it… i had to chase steve down to pay the bill, he never ince called me about it. they are fair, and honest, and treat my college kid with respect

Full service auto repair shop who’s name always comes up in discussions about the best in town. They do quality work with quality parts. They stand behind what they do. This shop has my trust and are most frequently the best priced while using high quality parts and attention to detail. They do gladly earn the respect that so many people give them.

I needed new brakes for my German car. The dealer wanted a lot more $ and couldn’t fit me into the schedule for two weeks! Pro Tire fit me in in two days and installed the brakes and sensors. You really can’t beat that. I’m happy

I have to be brutally honest. Is have used ProTire a few times and they have been very professional in the work that they do and the prices are excellent. I bought tires, had a brake job and other stuff done here. But, the one time that I went in to get only an oil change, they opened up the date book and told me it would be 2 weeks before they could get me in. That pissed me off. I thought, ok if I was going to to a tune up and an oil change they probably would have gotten me right in. They do good work but this one incident pissed me off so I have not gone back since. If you won’t help me with the little things, why would I use you for the higher ticket items. Also, the hours are not customer friendly. No evening hours and no weekend hours.

These guys are great — very professional and in my two experiences with them, very fair. On my repair job they quoted me a price that included a part that they said they might not need — and then they didn’t need it so I wasn’t charged! Crazy, right? I just mean they are honest and don’t overcharge on stuff that’s not needed. They also do used car inspections very reasonably — well worth the cost to get things checked out. I highly recommend them.

This place earns your Trust. It’s hard to say that about a car repair shop, and I went here twice before I felt I could write this review. This place is honest, they have integrity, they are professional, and kind. But above all, they literally EARN your trust. Here’s how they earned mine.
I moved here last summer and was afraid of where to take my car when my headlights started giving out. Went to a different shop first and they simply replaced the headlamps but could not understand why it was fading and going out. Finally, when both my headlights stopped working with new bulbs, I decided to try Pro Tire & Auto Repair (because of the reviews on this site!). I was amazed when they called me and said it was FREE and RESOLVED. I didn’t get it. The gentleman explained they would not be charging me because nothing was wrong — it was just a loose connection he said. After they plugged it back in all the way, the lights immediately came on and continued to work consistently. I was amazed they did not charge me a penny and wondered if this was normal (the honesty and not trying to deceive you for more $ part). This was a while back and I chose not to review them given my «limited» experience with their service and the easy fix (again, I was tempted to solely because they proved they were honest).
Then more recently, this week, my car started to overheat and I was stressed over it. I was very concerned that this would be a high cost affair to repair. I immediately worried about the «trust» issue at car repair shops and was afraid I would be charged a ton of money for work I would not understand. And because I thought overheating was a «major» repair need, I assumed a «tire shop» could not help me. However because they were the only shop I knew I could TRUST, I called and asked if they did this type of repair work. They said of course, let us check it out. Hmm I thought, why not let them try first… I am so glad I did! Again — my total cost for repair was a surprise to me — well under $ 200 while I was planning for WAY MORE than that! They simply replaced the actual part, a thermostat, replaced fluids, and charged me a fair price for parts and labor. And the problem was fixed. I actually drove away expecting it to overheat because I doubted the repair at that cost. I am so relieved right now. Honestly. I am just amazed and impressed with this place. They are good people, and I feel very comfortable giving them the 5 stars they EARNED.

I moved to Bloomington in June of 2012 and needed a place to take my car for service– I was recommended to take it to Pro Tire and Automotive and– let me tell you– they are fantastic! Honest guys who give it to you straight and are always up front. I have never even looked elsewhere. I’ve had everything from oil changes to a new alternator to a services transmission. One stop shopping!

NEVER go here! They padded the bill by doing $ 400 of extra things that we did not approve!
We took our van in to get a leak fixed and they also changed plugs/​wires, tune-​up, «battery maintenance», etc! I paid because I thought for some reason my hubby must have approved the extras. But when hubby got home and I asked him, we found out we had been taken.
Been trying to get our money back but no response from them. Guess it might be time to get the BBB or an attorney involved. Save yourself some money and heartache and DON’T go here. Ever.
It’s too bad, too. We THOUGHT we had found a mechanic we could trust.

It’s so hard to find a car repair place which is honest, friendly, and fairly priced. But this is it! They are always very upfront about what work is needed. When I have compared prices they have been the same or lower than competing shops. And they’ve always done great work.
I think at Pro Tire they work to earn repeat customers by treating people right. That’s why it’s become the only place I go for car repairs.

I no longer live in the Bloomington area and wish I had the ability to still bring my car to Pro Tire!!! Like the other reviewer has said they are very straight forward about what needs to be done. When I was car shopping they even allowed me to bring in the used cars I was looking at and would give me opinions on them and what would need fixed and how much it would cost. It gave me a lot of negotiating skills that I wouldn’t have had otherwise.

Well, this is my first ever Unilocal review and it should say something that my first instinct was to review Pro Tire & Automotive Service — especially considering that I am giving it such a positive review! I have always cringed at the thought of car trouble for fear of being taken advantage of. I first went to Pro Tire because I had heard nothing but good things about it from friends and I’m glad that I began going to them. They seem to be the ideal car maintenance shop; they never try to up sell or assume that you will want additional work done that you didn’t come in for. They shoot you straight and lay out all of your options. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. A great place that I recommend to anyone and everyone without reservation.
