Movin On Up

It was an extremely difficult time for us (my brother and sister and I) to have to deal with going through our parent’s home where we spent our entire childhood. We unfortunately did not have a choice when they both passed very close together last year. We then had to deal with this situation of trying to sort out over 35 years worth of belongings, so we could put the house on the market.
I am big on doing research especially when it comes to spending my hard earned money. Unfortunately, the few clean out services and estate sale services that are out there do not have a whole lot of reviews. For the few businesses, I saw a lot of mixed reviews. I found Movin on Up through the internet (probably Googling) and their list of services really impressed me, they didn’t seem to just be your basic clean out service.
When Jason came for the consultation, he was thoroughly prepared with a folder of information and I felt comfortable with what they could provide us. He is very knowledgeable with items of value as well, if you need. I decided to go with them even though they were not the cheapest but the ones that I felt would provide the best service.
The day of the clean out service went pretty smooth. All the clean out guys are very friendly and they were very thorough. They always came to us to make sure if they were items we wanted (personal) or if they were trash or donations. As emotional as the situation was for us, it went extremely well. I could not have asked for better. They even came back the following day because all of the dumpster and truck were filled. Everything was cleaned out and broomed swept as promise.
I would highly recommend them! I’m a tough customer and a tough sell too.

I have moved over 12 times since college. This is hands down the worst company I have ever dealt with. To put is simply, when my insurance adjuster came to assess all the damage and pictures from our move with Movin On Up, they said they had never seen anything so disgraceful. His comment was that it looked as if the truck were on its way to the dump. If there were a 0 star option, they wouldnt have even received one star from me. Beware of this company — ANYONE else is a better option.

Jason and his people did a cleanout at my mother’s house that was a very large and difficult job. He gave me a price and stood by it even though I could see the job was more involved than he originally thought. Jason and his people were professional and very easy to deal with. In fact, Jason was very sensitive considering this was a cleanout of a parents home after passing away. I would recommend him for helping with coordinating the cleanout and sale of items in home in my similar situation. He even delivered some items to my house that I decided to keep after moving. This is a great company.

I’ve used them 3 times now since 2006 (yes, we’ve moved a lot) and they got progressively worse. The last time was a disaster and I’m still discovering items that were broken and then HIDDEN. Needless to say, I would never use them again. The movers were rude and had MAJOR attitudes and one of them was downright hostile. I saw that one mover carrying an accent table to the basement of our new home. I thought it was an odd place to move it but I just thought I was busy so he couldn’t ask me where it should go. Later, I went down to the unfinished portion of the basement and saw the table — with one leg broken off hidden in the back. I can understand that things get damaged but to hide them is just shady. They also broke our sofabed, we’ve lost an expensive mirror and just assume it broke in the truck and that’s why it’s disappeared, the handle on my daughter’s tricycle was broken off — it could have easily been removed. Mind you, we paid them for PACKING and moving. I’m not getting into the items that were scuffed and dented, etc. Also, half the boxes that were packed up were not marked and even if they were marked «baby’s room» for example, it would end up in the kitchen. The owner, Jason, came to our home, gave us an estimate, and was one of the four people actually moving us. It was the first time the owner participated in my move and I thought that would be a good thing, but it obviously didn’t make a difference.

DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!!! I have never in my life experienced such horrible movers and unprofessional customer service from the two owners Jason and Jill. I am a professional successful real estate broker in New York City and have not only moved myself many times but I constantly recommend movers to customers and clients. This is the WORLDS worst company i have ever used in my life. Jason and Jill should be put in jail and the company shut down, I agree with Dave M. who said they are liars and have no regard for people and their property once they get paid. The movers did not even use blankets when they delivered my furniture out of storage. There were two large piles of folded blankets just sitting there. everything was broken, scratched and damaged. Their men said that they were pressed for time. They lost items and do not even return phone calls. Never in my life have i seen anything like this. I will personally be calling the better business bureau and an attorney. Sadly i have been going through my home owners insurance to deal with this as Jason and Jill have not helped even though I took out insurance through their company. NO ONE SHOULD USE THIS COMPANY EVER! they have caused me such stress and taken so much time out of my life I don’t even know where to begin. One this i promise to do is not let this go.

These guys packed up our apartment, then packed up our country house, then drove our stuff cross country in four days, then unpacked us and helped put together furniture that had to be taken apart at the beginning of the move.
On the packing they broke a cup, which never would have noticed. Upon arrival in Seattle he had a replacement.
They worked really hard and i’m sure more than they bargained for. Jayson, the owner, never tried to add any extra expenses and movers sometimes do.
I’ve had so many bad experiences with movers in New York (haven’t we all) it was a pleasure to deal with someone honest and hardworking.
