Primeaux Cheese and Vino

Amazing. The experience at Primeaux was up there as one of the best for me. We came in for lunch and the place had a few tables going. Our server, Eddie or Elliott (it’s one of those I believe…), was very entertaining and accommodating. He served us the «special» 2015 aged tap water. Ha.
Now to the food, I ordered the Wagyu burger. Top 10 burger of my life. The beef was full of flavor and cooked to medium rare perfection. The kicker was the bacon jam… mind-​blowingly delicious. Sweet and savory is always welcome onto my palette. The truffle fries didn’t bring the dish down at all as well. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. Nice and crisp on the outside yet soft on the inside… thank god Elliott (name is coming back to me, I think it was Elliott) took these away from me.
Great job Primeaux! Upon my return to Birmingham, Primeaux will be on my MUST go to list. Elliott deserves a raise. (god I hope that’s his name).

I would get this restaurant six stars if it was possible. The food is fabulous and the service was even better.

The burger was awesome truffle fries included. The Madame was fantastic with a fried egg on top!!! Our bartender Heath was superb very knowledgeable and steered us to the right choice of wine along with food!

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. My fiancé and I had a wonderful visit at this incredible establishment just this past weekend, our first time there. We went in just for some wine by glass and sat at the bar. We ended up having a spectacular wine flight, recommended by the friendly and very knowledgeable bartender. AND we are vegan and we were completely floored — they put together a divine vegan dish — just for us! SCORE! It was curried seasonal veggies in lettuce wraps and was artfully presented and tasted excellent! It is so rare that a non-​vegan restaurant is willing to work with us with no notice and come up with something that is impressive but that is exactly what happened. LOVE! The live music was great, too. We will be back for sure.

The food was excellent. Our sever was subpar, the portions were suspect depending on what you ordered. I have a real problem with spending $ 30.00 for an APP that 4 people can hardly get a decent taste of each item on a meat & cheese plate?
That said, the wine was excellent, of course I went to the bar and got a wine recommendation.

Enjoyed the wine and cheese plate! Server was very knowledgable, as I was a first time diner. The patio was nice and relaxing to enjoy a crisp glass of Rose. I guess the only thing I didn’t really like is the inside design/layout…its very open so things echo! I prefer a more intimate experience. Service, food quality and drinks were amazing!!!

We stopped in to pick up some Prosciutto di Parma. It was a disaster. First they asked us how much we wanted. I initially said «10 slices», which is what we routinely ordered in Italy. I was told they only sold it by the pound (crickets…so slice it and weigh it). I pulled out my phone and converted 100 grams to pounds for them and said «a tenth of a pound». This dialogue should have been the first red flag but I stuck it out. Then a man came to slice the prosciutto and asked how thin we wanted it cut. I should have left right then at red flag number 2. I didn’t. I said paper thin. Their machine is not designed for delicate meats. He sliced my prosciutto and wadded it up into a ball instead of placing slices of it on butchers paper like he should have. If you are going to have high quality meats and cheeses for sale, your staff should know how to properly prepare and serve it. Never again.

There’s something really fun and inviting about this place. The atmosphere and very friendly service makes me want it to be my local if I indeed lived close by. The food, on the other hand is really average. If you are into charcuterie, then it’s probably worth the drive to downtown where you can get a better plate at Chez Fon Fon or Vittoria. And lobster just doesn’t taste good as a corndog I have to say.
Having said this, there’s something infectious about the atmosphere and staff who are really into the cheese and wine. They are very knowledgeable and had good suggestions. Live music and shimmery décor. A little red and a little chic — made for a good time.

We came in for a quick bite and drink. We had the mussels with pommes frites and 5 cheese plate.
The mussels were cooked with white wine, garlic and little bit of cream. Simple and tasty.
There was a nice variation with the cheeses, from mild to strong.
The atmosphere is pleasant and staff is friendly. We came in a 5pm, not many others were here and it was relaxing.
On Friday and Saturday nights from 7−10pm, they have music.
I’m sure we will return.

My friend and I had reservations, even though it was a Saurday afternoon we did not want to take a chance. We were ignored for at least 5 minutes waiting at the front. Finally a gentleman staff member walked up and said just seat yourselves… So we chose a spot on the patio because it was a rare warm and sunny day February day. We waited 15 minutes on a waiter. Food was ok, wine was good but it’s hard to mess up wine when it is poured directly from a bottle. When I wanted to look over the wine menu again for another glass the waiter stood starring at me, when I told him it was ok to leave me to decide and come back he said «there is a good chance I will get busy inside and forget to come back» — sealed the disapproval rating for me right there. Good chance they don’t make it at this pace and with the qualify of service provided. It’s a terrible shame. Truffle fries were great tho.

Upon my response that I was open to giving it a second chance and NEVER heard back. Nothing. I will never step foot in this place again and will advise anyone I know know the same.

We had just gotten out of a movie and were fairly full on popcorn, but wanted to have some wine and nosh on a few snacks… I hopped onto Unilocal to see what might be good in the area and Primeaux was just what we were looking for. Bistro looking cute place from the outside, including a handful of outside dining tables. The interior is just as great. Live music filled the room, plenty of dining tables, plus 10 or so bar seats, a cooler case selling cheese and other items, wine décor and wine for sale, and is decorated in white with trendy/​modern looking art.
We snagged two seats at the bar and checked out the menu… it offers many apps, entrees and desserts. It all looked good really, but we just wanted a few apps and wine… so we ordered a bottle of chard, the crab cheesecake and a fromage & charcuterie board. The bartender was super helpful and personable and gave us the thumbs up for our choices. I mean, the marriage of crab and cheesecake. how could this be anything but delightful?! Well, it was outrageous. Savory goodness that melted in your mouth. The meats and cheeses (3 items; 2 cheeses, 1 meat, almonds, figs) were a great snacking item too, perfect amount for 2 people. We ended our meal with a small pot coffee — I find it very hard to resist good French pressed coffee.
We chatted with the owner and bartender a bit and both ladies were personable and easy to talk with — we learned about the restaurant and the different events they host (wine tastings on Wednesday and other wine dinners throughout the week). If you are looking for a restaurant with some European flair then add this place to your hit list!

Great little happy hour bar. Wine and cheese plate was delicious. The owner came by and checked on us. She was very friendly and made sure we were well taken care of.
Our drinks were well poured and the bartender was informative.

The crepes were excellent! Restaurant is priced right. Great quality too. The inside is a bit on the small side but quaint nonetheless. We had children in our party and even they were able to find something good to eat. The staff was attentive and the service was great. Thank you!

When will restaurants get that table service can make or break your place? Our server was beautifully gorgeous but she never once smiled. She mumbled and didn’t completely understand the wines and charcuterie. We needed her at our table only to see she was eating (along with the other staff). We were there early and they seemed to be sampling specials. That’s ok, but not when you have tables. Tables that are paying $ 100 for early dinner. Not cool. This place is crazy expensive (if you are drinking wine + dinner) located in a shopping mall. I have a hard time with these two concepts together. The décor is nice. They had a guy playing a guitar which was nice as well but it still lacks a soul. The food is tapas style which is cool but I was so underwhelmed. My theory is when you price yourself in this bracket you need to deliver on all fronts. Maybe with a friendlier server our experience would have been better, who knows?

After a hard day of Christmas Shopping at the Summit a nice glass of wine in a wonderful setting was just what we needed. That is EXACTLY what Primeaux provided.
The décor and atmosphere is very Bistro-​like. Sleek furnishings and displays are accentuated with trendy art.
Live music by an acoustic duo was a welcome bonus.
The menu offers an ample assortment of wines, a collection of signature cocktails and a dining menu that appears from a brief look to focus on small plate type items. But, since we were simply having a glass of wine I really did not read it carefully.
A return trip to enjoy their food is most definitely in the future.

Wife and I went there for brunch after church on a Sunday. It was a rare nice day to sit outside while eating since the summit has no trees or natural shade. Service was perfect and genuine. The atmosphere outside on this day was completely relaxing for brunch.
We ordered Lox and Latkes, an egg and bacon sandwich and a banana bread French toast. All were excellent. Part of their brunch menu served all day Sunday. The sandwich was perfectly toasted and though a simple concept was perfectly executed. The French toast was nice because it wasn’t cloying or overdressed. I liked the texture of the added pecans in it. Don’t overlook this smaller place compared to the large chains in the Summit!

So, this place is definitely growing. Been here twice this week, and they’ve had guests. I’m very excited to see that because I want this restaurant to stay in business! They have a new cocktail list that looks amazing, however, I’m sticking to my Bombay gin and cranberry juice for now.
I don’t think the menu has a bad item on it. I’m a regular here, and I have never had anything I don’t like. Please support this place. It is locally owned and gives the chain restaurants around it a run for their money!

Excellent place for lunch or dinner, numerous specialities to chose from.
I was quite unaware of this place, but after choosing not to wait one hour to eat at Cheesecake Factory, I found it and gave it a try. And I’m so glad I did.
Value is excellent, and the fries and Fresh Egg Sandwich are absolutely amazing.

Warmed up a January night! We walked into a silver beaded curtain entrance, no one came to seat us, so we sought a waiter out, minor glitch. French bistro atmosphere with black and white décor, red touches, including red bags for your cheese purchases from cases in the rear of the restaurant. You can order a tasting of wine which is half a glass, which I did, in order to try more than one red. Under small plates, tried Rogue blue cheese chips with bacon and apple chutney – outstanding! Had the redfish special and asked for lentils as a side instead of potatoes – perfect.
My husband’s hanger steak special was fine he said. He thought the accompanying truffle fries were greasy, but I liked. Will definitely be back, we said!
They have Thursday wine tastings 4 – 6 p

It’s gotten to the point that they call me «Hey Stranger» now. The employees have told me I’ve tried more on the menu than they have. They are most probably right. I’m waiting for the day that the incredible service finally snaps and tells me to stop coming here so often!
Tomato Basil Soup: I’ve never had bad tomato basil soup so this was no exception.
Ham and Brie Sandwich: Very small portions, which works if you aren’t hungry in the first place. Leave the top bread off as it takes away from the flavors from the ham and brie.
Farm Fresh Egg Sandwich: I’m a simple person who makes complicated orders so of course I asked for the yolk to be left out. The truffle oil was so good and was soaked nicely into the bread. When I left out two of the bread slices and ate them the following day, I didn’t need any condiments to finish it.
Bologna and Cheese Sandwich: It’s really salty. Unless your blood pressure meets ADA guidelines, I’d try something else. The combination with the mustard gives this sandwich an interesting twist of salty flavor.
