History

Established in 2010.

Ugly Duckling Photography was created in 2010 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Initially set up to cater to the Emirati market of ladies only weddings and events, the company fast became the UAE’s number one photography and videography company with a vast team of female photographers and videographers covering weddings internationally.

Company founder, Kelly Wallace Smith relocated to Beverly Hills, Los Angeles in 2014 and currently covers weddings across California.

Business Owner

I was born in England, UK and studied photography throughout school. I always had a passion for art, design, photography and anything creative. I was given my first camera by a teacher when I was 11, and taught to develop film at age 12. I knew I had an eye for photography but I genuinely believed it was only a hobby and had no idea it could ever possible become a career!

In 2006 I moved to Dubai and started shooting on a freelance basis. Within 3 months I was booked for my first wedding — and from there everything seemed to fall into place. I worked hard over 6 years to build a business with a team of women catering initially to the local market photographing ladies only events. This led to the development of a team of destination wedding photographers.

I am tenacious, I love to travel and I am very passionate and proud of what I do.

In 2014 I relocated to Los Angeles and now operate from Beverly Hills covering weddings across California.
