Our goal, at MD Periodontics is to establish and maintain the health of your teeth and gums through accurate diagnosis and care of your periodontal condition using the most effective and scientifically proven methodologies available. Our patient centered practice focuses on surgical and non surgical therapies aimed at eliminating infection in the oral cavity, replacing missing tissues with gum or bone grafts and treating missing teeth with dental implants. We pride ourselves in working with the best dentists and specialists in providing a team approach to fulfilling your treatment needs.

History

Established in 2002.

Doctor Moshrefi has been an Angeleno for over 38 years and his love of Southern California led him to complete his undergraduate and graduate studies at both UCLA (BS Biology, 1995) and USC (DDS, 1999, Certificate in Periodontics and MS in Craniofacial Biology, 2002).

He has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at USC and has published and lectured on various topics in periodontology and implant therapy.

Dr. Nazanin Daneshmand is a certified periodontist who studied biology at UCLA and went on to receive her DDS at USC. She excelled as a graduate student in Periodontics and has brought her success to her professional career!

She has written numerous articles on antimicrobial therapy and has received syndication on various publications, including the Journal of Periodontal Research. In addition, she served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Periodontics at the USC School of Dentistry. In this position, she remains committed to training aspiring dentists entering the field.

Manager

Lorie Campbell has been in the dental field for over thirty years and takes great pride in facilitating our patients treatment experience.

As a patient liaison, she will guide you through interpreting insurance benefits and coordinating treatment so that your overall experience is hassle free and positive. In addition to her skill for pampering, she is also adept at answering questions regarding treatment plans, costs and financing options.

She strives to go the extra mile and is happy to coordinate any special requests such as transportation, hotel accommodations, and recommendations for other healthcare professionals.

Can’t give enough compliments and thanks to this entire office. From Lori at the front desk who walked me through every aspect of what I would go through during the surgery to the costs of everything. She made me feel so comfortable with the entire procedure as well as made me feel very cared for. Dr. Moshrefi was beyond amazing too and my gums healed without any issue.
Definitely recommend everyone in this entire office.

Great dental office, amazing group of people working together. I had a bad root canal somewhere else and was afraid to have an implant put in after having the tooth finally pulled. Went to see Dr Moshrefi for a ceramic implant-​due to Lyme disease I wanted no more metal in my mouth! The anesthesiologist he works with is also lyme aware! Woke up with relatively no pain, I actually felt better overall. I did get an infection due to my sinus cavity MARCONS infection, but was seen right away and once on antibiotics felt amazing. Would recommend to anyone but especially those with autoimmune conditions, Lyme disease etc. Dr Moshrefi listens and explains everything so you understand.

VERY happy with my gum graft experience.
I came in a few months ago needing a gum graft on one of my front teeth. I guess a combination of genetics and me brushing too hard (mostly me brushing too hard!) meant that the gumline on one tooth randomly dropped significantly lower than those around it.
Turns out, I actually have 3 teeth that needed grafts (the other 2 have more minor recession, but are visibly irritated and missing the strongest ‘band’ of tissue, as Dr. Moshrefi helped show me). Dr. Moshrefi was very knowledgeable and helped to answer all of my questions. We opted to do a connective tissue graft, which is the least invasive graft option in that it doesn’t leave a gaping hole in the roof of your mouth.
Lori was extremely helpful in helping me figure out how best to maximize my insurance benefits for my procedures. Dr. Moshrefi’s rates aren’t cheap, but your teeth and gums aren’t exactly something you want to cheap-​out on.
I am extremely happy with the results of my first gum graft (on the tooth with the most obvious recession). Dr. Moshrefi is VERY gentle, and my post-​procedure pain barely even required Advil (though everyone’s experience is different!). I also appreciate that Dr. Moshrefi makes himself available via phone for any questions or emergencies. My end results have been great. One month later, the gum graft is tightening up and starting to match the shade of the rest of my gums. It looks beautiful!

I saw Dr. Moshrefi a few days ago and I’m extremely happy I did. Called here based on a referral by a colleague, had never been to the office before. They were exceptionally accommodating; gave me a same-​day appointment. I came in for a routine cleaning and the doctor ended up finding a few cavities. Rather than forcing me to come back for a deep cleaning and the fillings, they worked with me to find a time that the same day. This was extremely helpful since it’s difficult for me to take more than a half-​day off work, let alone find another day that could work for me.
The doctor was empathetic and careful during the procedures, constantly asking if I was doing okay. I appreciated that.
Also, the lady at the front, Lori, is unbelievably great. She has a wonderful attitude and gives the place a very positive vibe.
Would definitely go back and will be recommending!

Dr. Daneshmand was recommended to me by my dentist who I completely trust so I was fortunate to feel comfortable from the start. Her manner is both comforting and confident at the same time. Dr. Danehsmand’s recommendations were thoughtful, made carefully and she communicated the issues to me so that I could understand and feel comfortable with her recommendations. I had two procedures within a month. One crown lengthening and a 2nd more involved procedure that included bone grafting. Both were very successful and I hardly felt anything, even after I went home. She also communicated post procedure care and provided me with everything I would need. Her staff is wonderful as well, very friendly and courteous.
I still have more work to be done and am happy to have a Dr. whose work and opinion I never have to question.

OK – I received my surgery (bone graft and tooth removal) a little over a year ago and it was one of the better decisions i’ve made on my teeth. (somewhat poorer decisions on other parts of the body if you know what i mean). Anyway, Dr. Moshrefi did a great job and i would recommend him and his staff to anyone contemplating an implant. my only complaint, as such, was the expense. Quite expensive for a lower middle class person.

Dr. Moshrefi was recommended to me by a friend that had an implant done and swore how amazing he was. I was very reluctant about going after not being to the dentist for several years. There was no judgement/​scolding, just kindness, concern and patience, despite the neglect. Previously 8 yrs ago had a failed gum grafting on the side. Knew I needed to have that done again as well as gum grafting of the bottom front teeth. He started with a frenectomy which contributed to the gum recession in the first place and a deep cleaning. All of this was relatively pain-​free and Advil did the trick. The biggest fear was the gum grafting from the roof of the mouth which was previously so painful that I would equate it to childbirth (Dr. Carlson). This was not the experience with Dr. Moshrefi. Although I needed Advil for several days, the donor site and grafting site were manageable to deal with. The gum grafting of the front teeth could not have been better and the redo of the side is much improved. Each visit there was a follow up phone from the doctor himself. I had to reach him on the weekend when I thought the graft was failing and he met me in the office first thing Monday morning. It was normal sloughing and just fine. I have also had a tooth extraction and bone grafting done, with again, good results and no pain. I have since taken my 19 yr old son who also needed a frenectomy and my mother who lives 5 hours away. She has had several extractions, bone grafting and is being fitted for a overlay upper denture that has required meticulous planning between himself and the lab. Dr. Moshrefi is a genius. You and only you are his concern. He never rushes off to see someone else. He will answer all of your questions, even if you have asked them before. Laurie from the front office could not be kinder or more attentive. There is a good reason he has all 5 star reviews. Highly recommend.

Dr. Moshrefi is awesome and I love Lori on staff as well. The whole experience is more professional, friendly and relaxing in comparison to the horrors I have dealt with in the past. They are a bit expensive but work well with Insurance and are open, upfront and honest with pricing and procedural expectations.
I had a number of procedures done with MD Periodantics. A couple of years ago I got a tooth removed and in the last year I have received a gum graft and post insertion.
He called and checked up on me throughout the week after procedures and is not only clear and communicative with me but also my surrounding doctors. I am grateful to have found this staff of people and plan on returning if necessary for any future procedures.

Dr. Moshrafi and MD Periodontics are the best hands down. I had a pretty extreme procedure needed to be done to my jaw and teeth and Moshrafi made me feel the safest out of any surgeon I’ve ever had.
He tells you your options, gives you time to understand, teaches you at the same time, and the whole time you feel like your friend is taking care of you. During procedures he makes sure with every step he takes he asks and makes sure you are not in any physical pain. If he sees you in stress he helps calm you down and get through it.
He just is flat out an amazing doctor. I mean he even calls you on his own time to check in and make sure you’re ok and if there is any discomfort and what to do.
I am a huge dental chicken and when I was told what I need to get done, I was extremely scared but because of him, I was able to get through everything with ease.
Please Please Please give him a call for any dental need. Even if you just need advice for procedures he is more than willing and nice to help.

Dr. Moshrefi is a fantastic doctor. I cant stress how comfortable he made me feel in his chair. His treatment was painless, his front desk was amazing, and his office is very well kept and has a soothing atmosphere. I would recommend him to anyone who needs a gum graft. I can’t recommend Dr. Moshrefi enough — one of the best experiences I’ve had with a doctor ever. He did an excellent job on my gum grafting surgery and was kind and gentle in the process. The overall experience was FAR less traumatic than I was expecting, and due in large part to Dr. Moshrefi’s expertise and finesse. He took my calls after hours and on the weekend when I had concerns about my stitches and even offered to see me on a Saturday! Everything has healed beautifully and I had very little pain overall.
I do have good dental insurance, but the cost was also much lower than I was expecting. Overall I had an A+ experience with this office and with Dr. Moshrefi — highly recommend!

I’m a New Yorker who moved to Los Angeles a few years ago. Dr. Moshrefi is better than anyone I have seen in both NYC and Los Angeles. I used to see dentist after dentist for a pain I had in the back of my mouth. After seeing Dr. Moshrefi, I was pain-​free. My teeth are in the best condition they have ever been.
He is extremely thorough. When I go back home to NYC, I see the doctors I used to see except for Dr. Moshrefi. In addition, he and everyone in the office are so lovely.

This was by far the MOST pleasant dental experience I’ve ever had and that’s saying something considering I was intimidated prior to going in for my first tooth implant. Dr. Moshrefi and the entire staff were amazing! From the moment I called the office and spoke to Laurie who re-​assuringly explained the procedure and efficiently followed up with my dental insurance company, I knew I had made the right decision. They made me feel so at ease the moment I walked in the door plus Dr. M expertly extracted my tooth in a way where I didn’t feel any discomfort or pain and explained the implant expertly and efficiently did that procedure too. I would highly recommend MD Periodontics without hesitation and woud be happy to go back should I ever need their services again.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Moshrefi & his staff at MD Periodontics. My 8 year old daughter had to have her first oral surgery ever — a frenectomy (removal of the tissue that attaches between the upper inner lip and the gum line). We went in for our consultation and he immediately made a great impression on her with his kind and professional manor, answering our questions thoughtfully without adding anxiety. When we went in for the surgery, he brought her some daisies (he had been at the flower mart to get flowers for his own daughter’s birthday party) and told her he got them because she was such a brave & sweet girl. It was a very thoughtful surprise (who would ever imagine a doctor would take the time to think of that?).
The outcome looks amazing & the experience was very positive. I feel like he treated her like she was family. The best thing I can say is my daughter told me that she would do it over again because it was «no big deal». I know she said this because Dr. Moshrefi & his staff gave her great care and did a fantastic job. What more could a parent ask for?

Reading all the other reviews, wow… I have to agree with the general sense of excitement to finally find a GREAT periodontist. This team is outstanding. Friendly all-​around, lovely people, who truly care about my teeth and well-​being while I’m there. It feels like a family and they’ve welcomed me into it. They’ve created a wonderful energy and spirit in their office, and I always look forward to seeing them (can you believe that?!).

Dr. Moshrefi is fantastic. Very friendly and approachable. I felt comfortable and informed about my procedure, a crown extension. His receptionist was so nice and was empathetic about the high costs… she suggested paying with a check to get a small discount on my bill. Anything helps so it was appreciated. My dentist built an crown over Dr. Moshrefi’s work and so far so good, so no complaints.

I first met Dr. Moshrefi in January 2011 for a consult for two dental implants at the front of my mouth… literally my two front teeth. From the moment I met him and his staff, I knew that I was referred to best periodontist. In fact, my dentist told me that he was referring me to the best person in this field.
He took great care to explain what I would be going through prior to the surgery and that he would take care of treating the bone infection that occurred at one of the implant sites. The surgery went smoothly and after the procedure was done I didn’t experience any pain afterwards. I know it’s hard to believe that I didn’t have any pain afterwards, but it’s true.
Dr. Moshrefi also performed a frenectomy on me a few months after my surgery. I was surprised at how quick and easy the procedure was. There was no bleeding and no pain either.
I can’t saw enough «great» things about Dr. Moshrefi and his staff. They treat you really well, as if you are family, so take it from me, don’t hesitate to make an appointment with Dr. Moshrefi. He’s the best and you won’t be disappointed.

I got to say, Dr. Moshrefi and his staff that they are very professional and caring of your needs. I am one of those people who do not like to go to Doctors for anything. I had tissue recession on several of my teeth and he did a excellent job on them. I would recommend to any of my friends and family to go to his office. They really know how to take care of you.
