She’s been an amazing dentist. Very knowledgeable and really walks you thru the process.

The dentist has never been my favorite place to go… but Dr. Pavlin is exceptional. I go to the dentist pretty regularly but I’ve never had an experience that was quite as professional and thorough. The entire staff was accommodating and very patient with me. They got me in, completed my paperwork and I was in the chair in no time! Dr. Pavlin was awesome-​she educated me on MY teeth and MY issues and discussed some options for improvement and products specific to MY mouth/​teeth. I felt very catered to and like my business was appreciated. Not to mention my teeth felt brand spanking new when I left. I’ve finally found my ‘forever’ dentist!
Btw, the office is great! Cool music, décor and a knowledgeable staff…

Dr. Pavlin and her entire staff are friendly and provide exceptional dental services. In fact, it is the best place my husband and I have found in over 15 years! We both highly recommend Dr. Pavlin. Especially if you have extreme anxiety going to the dentist. They are patient and understanding, and work with you to feel as comfortable as possible

DO NOT DO IT.
Believe me, you should not care that she might be in network for you. This «dentist» is the closest thing to a scam artist I’ve ever encountered. From the moment I walked in I knew something was off. The hygienist was terrible. It was like a blood bath. They patronized me and used these hi-​tech machines that beeped every time it sensed a cavity. All in all I walked out thinking I had 10 cavities and she pressured me until the moment I walked out the door to get them filled the next day before my insurance ran out for the year. I just visited my old dentist, Dr. Gandin, who I only left because he was out of network, and lo and behold, he told me that I have nothing that even resembles the beginning of a cavity. Needless to say I was shocked and felt compelled to write this review so that nobody has to have the experience I had with Pavlin.
STAY FAR AWAY.

I read some of the reviews here and it seems like people are just not that stoked on going to the dentist in general which I understand. I’m not that stoked on it either but Daniela and her staff for sure makes it a much more pleasurable experience than I’m used to. She will recommend what’s best for your teeth and if that ends up costing a bit then fine. In the long run I’m sure you’ll save money but having the best tools. I LOVE my USB chargeable toothbrush (yes I’m a nerd, but I also travel a lot) and I’d buy it again any day. Thx D. You rawk.

WORST DR EVER!
Dr. Pavlin has a fancy office and will give you the impression that everything is on the up and up. Whatever you do, do not trust her. I went to her in 2009, had work done and paid off my my debts. Over 5 years later I get a call from a collection agency informing me that I am being taken to collections for $ 700 that was denied by my insurance company. The doctor made no attempt over the last 5+ years to reach out and resolve this matter and when I tried calling several times they told me they don’t have any info and would refuse to tell me what I owe and why. I know of a few other former patients and one person that works there that has informed me this is her MO. When she is running low on money she will have her staff comb through old accounts to find ways to send additional bills to clients and make up fictitious charges. Save yourself the headache and go see someone else.

By all accounts (the previous dentist and my next dentist after Pavlin) my teeth are in good health. When I went to Dr Pavlin, I was told otherwise. In addition, I was constantly upsold and cross sold on countless items, including an appt 6 weeks later, a mouthwash, new fillings, etc. The worrisome part is not the upsell (although its truly annoying) but that she’s telling me my teeth are not as healthy as they actually are. If I was looking for a dentist, this is a red flag.
(Btw, they tried to charge me to transfer digital xrays over email. I believe this may be illegal, if not, Im not sure its actually principled.)

I have been a patient of Dr. Pavlin’s for 6 years. I literally can’t imagine my life without her as my dentist. Her office is always immaculate, her team is the best in the business and I trust her implicitly. My teeth and gums are not the easiest to deal with but Dr. Pavlin has never faltered with her treatment plans and ensures that I know what is going on and how to take better care of my pearly whites. I wouldn’t even think to question any sort of billing situation — these are professionals who know what they are doing if anything, they’re probably saving me money. It’s rare when you can say you look forward to going to the dentist, but I always do!

After a Little Shop of Horrors-​like experience at the S. Monica & Vine branch of Western Dental, I found Dr Pavlin via 1−800-Dentist. All I can say is: WHY o’ WHY didn’t God send me to her for my wisdom teeth extractions instead of the House of Horrors?!
I’ve read some of the not-​so-​glowing reviews and while not here to defend, I do think it’s important to provide a well-​deserved review when a business has treated you kind.
Dr Pavlin has a science background and a medical degree. People with science backgrounds tend to be a bit Type-​A and tell it like it is. I know, because I am one of them – and grew up in a house full of them. While a flight attendant by trade, I am a science geek at heart. I say all of that to say this:
*If you aren’t brushing your teeth right… or at ALL, – Dr Pavlin is going to tell you. And isn’t that why you pay a dentist? Hello! Haven’t you seen the Brooke Shields toothpaste commercial, stressing the importance of keeping plaque at bay, because it’s been linked to heart disease?! Dr P isn’t unprofessional or bitchy – just strong and passionate about her craft… and ultimately trying to keep you alive. And if she pushes the electric toothbrush – it’s for your own good. I apparently hadn’t been brushing right and this device LITERALLY saved my teeth. Hmmmm… I wonder if Dr Pavlin’s strength, professionalism and character would be called into question if she were a man?
*If you have ancient mercury fillings, she’s going to try and get those out and replace them with the more common porcelain. Not only to get your smile ‘Hollywood Ready’, but also to remove a potentially harmful chemical element from your body. Have your googled mercury fillings lately?! Yikes!
*As mentioned, I am a flight attendant by trade. That’s means I could be in Pago Pago or Pittsburgh on any given day. It also means that my flying schedule does not always permit me to honor a previously scheduled appointment. The office staff knows this and is incredibly accommodating because of it. Her office generously sends multiple automated reminders to its patients. And if Allyzon (receptionist) doesn’t hear from me, she personally calls to check on me and make sure I’m available.
*Speaking of the office staff: I adore these women. Diana the hygienist, Amanda the dental assistant, Allyzon the receptionist and Dr Pavlin are all smart, genuinely sweet and funny women with equally professional demeanors to match. When I was unable to afford my Invisaligns outright, Dr Pavlin’s staff found a way. Moreover, Dr Pavlin even went out of her way to connect me with networking opportunities here in the States and when I travel abroad. Yes, there has been an occasion or two where there was a question about billing, but we always worked it out and there was never any perceived mal-​intent.
I once witnessed a patient attempt to bully Allyzon about billing. While Allyzon held her own, Dr Pavlin only stepped in when he became belligerent. The long and short of it: he wanted the Dr to write off a portion of the bill unpaid by his insurance co. Dr P, being the professional, yet assertive business woman she is, explained that she was there to meet his medical needs, not hold his hand regarding payment reminders.
So if you’re looking for a push-​over dentist, who’ll take your ish… and not get in yours when you don’t floss your teeth – this ain’t the joint for you. But if you want a dentist who is kind, gentle, passionate and thorough (all sought-​after qualities required when conducting my professional affairs) – Dr Pavlin is your gal. I wouldn’t hesitate to send my loved ones to her. You shouldn’t either. Cheers!

I’ve been going for years, that’s how I keep my teeth bright and white. Never had a problem and they work around my schedule. Also the girls there are not bad to look at

This «doctor» replied to my comment by putting on the world wide web any «diagnostic» she had on my conditions. Yes, ladies and gents, something that is confidential between Dr and patient, Dr Pavlin has actually written on a public web site for the world to see. What professionalism… huh?
I read another patient will be reporting her to the Better Business Bureau… it will be interesting to investigate how many deep cleaning procedures Pavlin does compared to other dentists.

To corroborate what other low scoring reviews have mentioned, Dr. Pavlin is a superlatively bad dentist. She became our family dentist after our previous one retired, and now that we’ve moved on to a different office it seems necessary to pass on the warning:
She and her employees will hound you constantly to buy more than is necessary. This applies not only to toothbrushes and home care items, but treatments as well. She obviously has only her bottom line in mind because she will ALWAYS recommend the most extensive/​expensive treatment whenever possible.
In my mother’s case, Dr. Pavlin told her that she needed to replace her existing crowns, even though she wasn’t having any problems with them. Several appointments and thousands of dollars later, she now has tooth pain due to a botched crown; Pavlin has refused to either correct it or pay for another dentist to fix it. It was borderline unethical as a doctor to prescribe such an unnecessary treatment, and dealing with her lack of accountability for her mistakes just adds insult to injury.
If you have the money to be in Dr. Pavlin’s tony Beverly Hills office in the first place, you’d be better off practically anywhere else.
One more thing– I will acknowledge that perhaps not every patient of hers has had this kind of experience, but I can’t help but notice that every poor review is pretty brutal, while the positive reviews are generous and suspiciously short. Read between the lines.

There is so much wrong with that office that I wouldn’t even know where to begin. Save your money and go somewhere else! You will be charged for things twice and hey maybe three times if you don’t notice, especially if you trust them.
When she makes a mistake then you will be paying for that too because she cannot possibly do anything without charging you for it. A lot of unnecessary procedures are done which leaves you wondering if you were taken for a ride. Her manner is very unprofessional when she is under a lot of stress and the quality of her work suffers immensely. So as long as you catch her on her best day and have so much money that it really doesn’t matter to you how much you get ripped off then find another dentist!
Oh and I think she hires incompetent front office staff just so that they can rip you off and when you tell them that they are wrong it’s as they cannot hear a word you are saying. Then she blames it on them but never does anything about it.

I went to Dr. Pavlin because of tooth pain that was filled by my previous dentist but still bothered me. After my visit she determined I needed a root canal & I felt better. In fact, I believe pus had built up behind the filling and when she cleaned it I believe I smelt what I think was the pus coming out but her assistant had the suction ready much to my relief. I had my crown placed today and it was a good fit too. To be honest, the nerve on that tooth she worked on was almost «dead» so it wasn’t so bad. Her course of antibiotics helped as well prior to the actual work she did.
I like her office because you’re on the 8^th floor and looking out at Beverly Hills. It relaxes you. Her equipment and furniture are new too.
I suggest parking in the public parking areas or street park because the building’s parking is expensive.

I’ll give her one star b/​c Unilocal requires you to do so. When I first started going to her, I was referred by my husband who swore up and down she was the BEST dentist around (hence why we would drive from our place in IRVINE to Beverly Hills), but I wasn’t impressed. When I first went to her I’ll admit that I had been neglecting my teeth. Being a college student and not having insurance for almost 5 years, saying that my teeth were neglected is an understatement. Anyways, people always told me I had really pretty teeth and I NEVER had problems until after going to her. Within 2 visits she had used my entire insurance premium ($ 1500). She told me that ALL the fillings I had in my mouth needed to be redone and that my previous doctor had used the wrong filler on my teeth and she was «surprised that none of my teeth had collapsed». I thought that was odd b/​c none of my teeth ever hurt or felt brittle or chipped or anything like that. So, I let her do them all and big surprise I have had problems/​pain ever since! She also told me that I was in a pre-​gum disease state and needed 5 deep cleaning treatments a year. I went through with one of them since I had never had one done before, but considering she used up all of my money within the first 3 months of the year, I stopped going. Oh, and I also let her remove 2 of my wisdom teeth which other than the fact I had to pay almost the entire thing out of pocket, it went by smoothly.
On a side note, I know everyone is saying she has a nice office but the tension in that office is unbelievable. She talks down to the people working for her and doesn’t seem to treat them with respect (this is directed towards the people cleaning the mouths and not the front desk girl). And she’s really moody. I got a really bad first impression of her and didn’t see why my husband thought that she was so awesome, then I saw her a second time and she was completely nice and then she was mean again the 3^rd time. I don’t like having someone working inside my mouth and have to guess what kind of mood they’re in, ya know? Overall, I wouldn’t recommend to anyone unless you have a ton of money to blow.

I keep referring people to her :)

Dr. Pavlin is not bad as a dentist (in terms of technique). However, similar to many of the reviews below (hidden ones included), I encountered billing issues more than once. These errors resulted in a really bad experience, hence my low rating above.
Instead of charging the contracted rates with the insurance company, in many cases her office charged me standard fees, which (as pointed out too by the other reviewers below) are much higher than the insurance contract rates. When it happened the first time, I decided to let it go — after all we are human and we all make mistakes. Unfortunately I was trusting and paid cash upfront, before the insurance claim was filed. At the time I was told the issue would be taken care of (and unfortunately it never was 100% resolved). In the meantime I started a subsequent procedure (thinking it would be only a matter of time before the first claim would be resolved). Essentially billing errors occurred twice after the aforementioned procedure. This is when I decided it is time to leave.
I really wish I had come across the billing issue reviews sooner and saved myself tremendous headache. Had I done my own research through Unilocal and other medical rating sites, I could have avoided going through this horrible experience. I choose to look at it as a learning experience and hope the information shared above would be helpful for others and save them from billing errors and the bad billing practices I went through.
As constructive criticism, I would recommend that billing practices (i.e. the habit of charging above contracted insurance rates) are openly and clearly disclosed to patients (especially to new ones and especially to in-​network patients!) up front, both verbally and in writing so that they can make an informed decision upfront.

Great dentist with a helpful staff. I would plan to leave early as parking can be a pain in Beverly Hills. Park in the structures to save time and money. The last thing you want is a parking ticket after a visit to the dentist.
The great thing is that Dr. Pavlin will give you a check up and give you a list of what you need and what she recommends along with a chart of your teeth. She always explains what she is about to do and is doing to help with the tension of a dental visit. Like anything do your research! Call your provider see if she is in plan and what you are covered for. Allison (Dr. Pavlin’s asst) will also go over your coverage with you. It’s a business and like any business they will recommend services. USE YOUR HEAD! If you don’t want to get it then don’t, it’s your smile.
I highly recommend Dr. Pavlin and will recommend my friends and family to her.

She’s the best dentist that I’ve ever had, and she makes you feel like family when you’re there. She remembers everything that you talk about in previous visits, and really seems to show interest in her patients and conversations, which takes the edge off of that scary dentist visit.
I’ve even ran into Dr. Pavlin out and about before on a Saturday night, and she had time to stop, introduce us to her husband, and chat for a few minutes. I can’t say enough how great she is!
