A third generation furrier and designer, and his trained team will provide you with the help you need in custom design, and create the fur you’ve always wished for. David Appel’s fur services include; fur remodeling, fur restyling and altering your furs to fit your lifestyle, including shearing and redesigning fur coats to reversible, practical, lightweight easy to wear outerwear.

Some of our clients have kept their parents fur coats. Making them into sheared, mink fur throws and fur blankets, keeping the monograms on the lining to preserve the memory of a loved one and cozy up with their favorite fur.

David Appel’s operation provides all the services needed to help maintain your fur garments. Including fur storage (which is on premises) fur cleaning, fur repair, fur remodeling, fur restyle, relining, monogramming and fur appraisals.

DAVID APPEL a dynamic third-​generation artisan Furrier and designer with 35 years experience, mastered his craft apprenticing at some of the finest fur workrooms in Europe, and polished his experience in Beverly Hills for the last 25 years. He has earned the respect of top designers and furriers around the world, and his loyal clientele, for his impeccable workmanship, design, and pattern making.

David knows his stuff. I brought in an old long fur coat of my mothers with questions about what to do with it. We discussed insuring it, selling it, etc. He recommended some alterations to it i.e. «make it yours». He suggested shortening it, using the extra fur to lengthen the sleeves (they were the short, bell shaped style of the 1970’s) and this way it would be more useable to me. So I accepted his suggestions and two weeks later went to pick it up (even though he said he might need six weeks to do it). It is absolutely gorgeous now and looks fantastic. He also cleaned it and made a repair to a torn sleeve. He is super friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. He also does fur storage, and has some beautiful fur items in the store, from little fur key chains to purses to coats, you name it. I highly recommend him for anything relating to furs, even just cleaning and storage if that’s all you need. You can’t go wrong. Thank you, David!

Very mean person and the front desk lady also. I took my sheered mink coat to him for resale and suggested me only $ 1500 .My coat is a high quality mink and the retail price is $ 7000.He tried to squeeze me. Don’t expect that he will pay you a good price for your fur if you want to resale.

We went here this week to sell a fur on consignment. Although we decided not to leave the fur for consignment, we had a very positive experience. I had what I thought was a vintage designer fur. He explained that it wasn’t actually a designer piece and was only worth about $ 200.00 or $ 300.00. Although we were disappointed, we were very happy with how we were treated. Mr. Appel was extremely knowledgeable and obviously knew what he was talking about. He was very professional and kind. I would return to David Appel Furs in the future.

David Appel Fur did an amazing job cleaning and conditioning my vintage mink stole which was in storage for 70 years. It had a beautiful luster and no longer had the cedar smell. They provided outstanding customer service and the stole was ready on the date promised.

GREAT!
I was at the store today and told David Appel what I was looking for… He showed me only 5 coats 1 after the other 1 and they were all very elegant and beautiful fur. I did have a HARD TIME to choose one. Glad I couldn’t see all of them because I would have been overwhelmed.
CALL: You have to take an appointment cause David Appel will take care of you (and not 5 people at the same time) Nice right!
PARKING: Behind the store or on the street (2hrs).
STORE: Very nice area.
Classy, I love the living room with Marilyn Monroe on the wall, that beautiful album photo on the table and all those beautiful fur all around, it is so glamorous.
SERVICE: GREAT advices and friendly. I have learned a lot about fur today.
FUR: Amazing quality.
Price: you will probably be able to buy something not too expansive and still really beautiful because, D. Appel sell vintage and pre-​owned fur too.
CONS: A little tiny bit hard to find the store the 1st time. No biggie cause its worth it
PROS: they have a storage which when you dont use you coat they can keep it with them there for if I remember well around $ 45/​year.

This place is great! I got a fur coat at a vintage shop and needed to get it cleaned. David identified the specific animal easily because I did not know and was very hospitable to me. I got the coat back clean and most of the vintage smell was removed. I was satisfied. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I waited a month and they never bothered to call or email me to notify me my coat was ready for pick up. After waiting 1 whole month, I still did not receive a call so I had to dig up the receipt and call myself. This was not a big deal tho because I was happy with his services and he is a great and knowledgeable person who is passionate about his job. I’d easily overlook this possibly one time mistake on their end and gladly come back again.

David is very professional, knowledgeable and approachable! He has a great eye… Most definitely! He is a third generation furrier if I remember correctly.
I brought in a gifted coat, he put me in front of the mirror and pinned up the coat to fit me better. I was thinking I should just make a blanket but David saw much more potential. He showed me I can make it into a more usable knee length (more youthful) and shawl. Remodeling the shoulders was also needed to give it a much more modern appeal.
Thank you for the quote and educating me about the care of furs. Although I decided to not leave my coat this time, I will be back :)

I haven’t picked up my grandmother’s mink stole yet, but I will say David provided excellent customer service when I dropped it off. He explained to me what the stole needed in regards to cleaning and repair and quoted me a fair price to give it a little TLC as he called it. I had never been to a furrier, so I wasn’t really sure what to request or expect. I’m so appreciative that David made the process so easy.

I brought in my great grandmother’s fur for my mom to wear during her wake and the time frame was short notice. After explaining my situation, David spoke with me directly and made sure that I was taken care of. He expedited a service that typically would have taken over a week. This has a happy ending: I returned to the shop after my last comment and retrieved my brown mink, given David hadn’t paid me for the sale. It was not taken apart. and he said I was mistaken, that only one of my items, the fox stole was on Ebay. However, that was untrue as I took photos of my mink stole along with the $ 10,000 appraisal he had posted with a current value price of $ 1000. (My agreed sale with him was 75% of $ 300) I was really disappointed at the lack of accountability. THEN, he surprised me:
David emailed me and took full responsibility for his part in our misunderstanding and made restitution by refunding me the $ 260 I had paid for the cleaning of my furs.
Unilocal is a great way to hold others accountable with integrity-​and how wonderful that David Appel not only took personal accountability-​but made restitution also. Can’t ask for more than that!

My initial meeting was great. David is very nice, courteous, attentive and to the point. The furs are being cleaned now and we’ll see how the resale goes on those pieces but overall my first experience is quite pleasant.

Don’t go there!!! Worst service and thick-​faced!
First of all, David promised me to do the alterations of my mink coat by 01⁄09 but I had to pick up one week later which is the day I’m leaving the country. I called his store several times to make sure it’s ready but he never returned my calls. I complained to him in person but he didn’t even apologized.
Worst of all, I later find out that he only took out the one side shoulder pad and left the other side.
