History

Established in 1985.

Donegal Square opened in February 1985, and owner Neville Gardner helped start the Celtic Classic Festival in Bethlehem which began in 1987. We opened a shop in Newtown — Bucks County which we sold shortly after opening McCarthy’s Restaurant and Tea Room in 1987.

Donegal square has become a cornerstone of business in Historic Bethlehem and supports local arts, music, film, and theatre especially when anything Celtic is involved.

Business Owner

Neville came to the USA from County Antrim in Northern Ireland in 1979 and opened Donegal Square with wife Linda — a native Pennsylvanian to help share the Celtic heritage with the local community and also afford Neville the chance to go home on a regular basis and visit a sick father.
