US Post Office

no parking. It’s apparent all the employees take up the parking spots… when there’s space in the gated area in the back. customers have to park illegally by the curb. they still can’t figure out how to forward mail either.

Certainly needs improvement. I was there one Saturday at 5:45 PM and it was closed. Closing time on Saturdays to pick your mail at rented PO boxes is 6 PM. Other people were there to mail packages from self serving machine or to pick up their mail. There is no excuse for this. Some of the staff are friendly and helpful while others are rude and incompetent. Management has to improve the quality of this badly administered Post Office. I suspect that part of the problem here is bad management and a poorly trained staff. Generally speaking this is the main issue with the USPS in general. Many a time I have had to resort to UPS or FedEx. Although more expensive, they are efficient and reliable. Not sure if the USPS can be repaired. I hope it can but this particular Post Office West Bethesda does not give me much hope for improvement.

Today another amazon package was delivered but to who? The post office says me, but it’s not here… luckily for me I know they once again they screwed up and I will never see my package. So I will wait a day, call amazon and get my refund. THIS IS THE WORST.
Lost mail, missed days, horrible slow customer service… they should’ve been put out of business a long time ago. I gotta think the head of this dysfunctional place has got to be riding it out, waiting for retirement. What a disaster. Hey Post Office, your publicity campaign won’t fix stupid.

I wish I could give this P.O. zero stars, but that is not an option. Lines here are always horrendous. Customer service doesn’t exist. I sometimes go to the PO on Seven Locks road, where lines are much shorter and the staff are friendly.

This is the most incompetent facility I’ve ever seen. The management keeps changing…
I live in a SFH and have been here over a decade.
I get WRONG mail, addressed to people many blocks away routinely.
I complained Again via an email to the Manager of this facility yesterday. I got her name when I called to complain on Friday 8÷14÷15.
TODAY, the next day, a different letter carrier delivered two pieces of mail to me and then about 8 minutes later came back to my home and put through the frontdoor slot FIVE pieces of mail addressed to a resident four houses down my street.
This is not an accident, it is intentional– it is retaliation from my having complained yesterday. This is very bad and very sad. Anyone know how to report this?

Awful customer service. The agent, a tall, somewhat husky Hispanic man, refused to let me borrow the post office’s tape to tape up a box for shipping saying «you have to buy your own.» When I told him this was really bad customer service, he had the gall to laugh at me! He’s part of the problem that is perpetuating the bad reputation the U.S. Postal Service gets.
I contacted the Capitol District Office and filed a formal complaint against him. You don’t laugh at customers — I don’t care whether you’re a quasi-​government agent or not. I went next door to Five Guys and asked if I could borrow their tape and they said «sure!» Why? Because two strips of tape is 5 cents and it’s worth it to maintain good customer relationships! The USPS and it’s agents have a lot to learn. Welcome to the Post Office, where if you need a little tape for a box you have to go to a burger joint. Ridiculous for something so insignificant and then topping it off with condescending laughter. We’ll see who’s laughing when the complaint comes down the chain to him — oh wait, he’s unionized, nothing will happen to him and he will continue giving poor service to other USPS customers.
The USPS needs to realize that they too must offer decent customer service. And they wonder why they have millions of dollars in deficit while UPS and FedEx post profitable earnings quarter after quarter…

While this location is convenient, there is ALWAYS a long wait, regardless to how many people there are in line. It seems they are understaffed and could improve their efficiency The staff here are not the friendliest but are cordial for the most part. They do give off the impression that none of them enjoy their job.

While this facility seems efficient, they have an employee with an extremely distasteful attitude. Steer clear of the worker with the badge ADRIANNE SSA if you can. Worst service attitude ever!

We’d gone there a few years ago when my mother needed to fill out a change-​of-​address form and we went there three days ago for the same reason. This post office services a *huge* delivery area, as my mother lives in Chevy Chase. Anyway; we spoke to a *very* friendly mail carrier in front of the post office — but when I asked one of the workers at a counter for a change-​of-​address form, she was quite unfriendly (she seemed annoyed with my request and she practically *threw* the form at me). Five stars for the very friendly mail carrier and one star for the woman = three stars.

Well, I processed my shipping label and left my box to be shipped in their kiosk, and they managed to LOSE it.
I was told to give it 2 weeks to ship, and now it has been over 3, and there has been no update on the tracking information since 11 minutes after I left it in the kiosk. I called to inquire and the woman on the phone, instead of trying to be helpful screamed at me that they didn’t have my package and that it was out of her hands. She even used the words «not my fault,» as if I accused her personally of losing it. To top it off, she told me she was busy and promptly HUNG UP ON ME.
Of course it all happened before I had the chance to ask her name.

The manager (African American guy with glasses and deep voice) is not only obnoxious but hostile towards customers. He rolls his eyes at a simple question and literally forced me out of the building when I asked him about a minor issue (I had been overcharged) making obscene gestures, yelling, screaming. Unbelievable. I’ve seen him on multiple occasions telling people they are wrong, yelling at them, etc. The women in front of me today, before I had a run at him, had a question about stamps and he rolled his eyes, gave her some smart ass comment and walked away. My favorite was when a person asked him a question and he spun around and said (exact quote) «excuse me, stop being rude!» Everyone in there, myself included couldn’t believe what we just heard.
Simple question (when does the PO kick in an oversized box charge) was answered with hostility and a fight. Never will I use the post office again and I’ve been using them every week for years at this location.

Went in to get passports, so helpful and friendly! I’d called 4 other different post offices to make an appointment, no one answered the phone, so we just walked in. She took care of us, and we were out in under an hour! The clerk that made out the money orders was friendly and efficient as well!

Each time I enter Motor City Drive post office, I get the feeling the staff were trained to treat their customers as dangerous criminals in need of discipline!!! I have witnessed multiple scream-​fests, snapping at clients and other such nonsence. There is a very nice male employee and a helpful, polite lady who more than pulls her weight, Last lovely incided involved an elderly gentleman, who had a parcel to drop off. He had trouble walking, and asked the employee where he could set down the parcel while he waits. She glared at him and dismissively pointed «that-​way». Once the man put the package down, the clerk bellowed «NOT THERE!!! I T-​O-​L-​D Y-​O-​U, N-​O-​T T-​H-​E-​R-​E!!! I could tell this poor man was SCHOCKED and unnerved! How is this allowed to go on? Where is the SUPERVISOR? Having a root canal without anesthesia more appealing option than going back to that madhouse! Some people don’t appreciate they HAVE a JOB even in this economy. SHAME,

No complaints or problems with the service. There was a line when I arrived and I waited probably 5 – 10 minutes, but there were a lot of people coming in (busy place) and the people behind the desk were moving efficiently. They had a good selection of stamps and were pleasant and helpful.

This post office is a disaster zone. Everytime i go, peak hours, off peak hours it doesnt matter. There is a line 30 people long and two people working… slowly at that. The stamp machines were broken. Just a total drag. i hate the post offices in general, but this one is bad.

There a few helpful and friendly workers which make one’s visit efficient and likeable. However, there are some bad apples and if you get one of them, you are likely to be frustrated and leave cussing. Sometimes the line is out the door and there is only one clerk at the counter. In summary, it is hit or miss when you go to this Post Office. A few years ago, I even witnessed a shouting match between several customers in line and one of the rude clerks who threatened to call the police. Several clerks are wonderful though. It seems the Postmaster is AWOL.

Nothing wrong with this post office… At least, nothing that’s not wring with all post offices. They’ve got an Automated Postal Center, which is what I use 90% of the time. The lines can be long at lunch time, but short at other times. Not usually that many staff on duty, but the ones I’ve dealt with have been reasonably helpful.
The main reason I give this place 4 stars instead of 3 was one excellent experience. I dropped off a package that I was returning to an online retailer, only to realize after I got home that I’d forgotten to write the return number on it. I called the post office, fully expecting to be rebuffed with something like «we can’t alter packages in any way.»
But no! I got a very calm, helpful postal employee who asked me for enough info to uniquely identify the package, quickly located it, and asked me what I wanted written on it. No attitude, no rebukes, just very helpful service. Bravo, unknown postal employee!

This place is an unorganized mess. At this location, EVERY DAY is the day before the yearly tax filing deadline.
Observations:
Staff is either short handed at all times, or are truly incapable of doing their job efficiently.
Supplies are in complete disarray. Why have some of the labeling supplies in line, and other corresponding supplies at another table far away from the line.
When someone sends me something, and i check my PO BOX, there is a note saying I have mail. Why not just put the mail in there and that way i don’t have to get in line to get my mail, what is the point of the PO BOX?
THE LINE, THE LINE, THE LINE! Why is there always a line? Is this the only Post Office in MD? Why is the line so long, and there are only two postal working processing shit?
Going here is like having an aneurysm, on top of an epileptic seizure, on top of anaphylactic shock, while getting a colonoscopy! I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy out of fear of apocalyptic retaliation. This place is the reason there should be a negative star rating.
