Had the Texas Ranger at Pike Farmer’s Market. As a big chorizo fan and Texan, this was absolutely delicious. Also, if you plan on splitting the Fried Cheese Grits, you should probably get two, because you’re not going to want to share!

Oh. My. Yum! This is an amazing food truck! They came to Hammond Park Pool today and my family had never tried them before. We got the Southern Fried Chicken Sliders with honey and sriracha. Wow! So crispy and delish! My wife had The Purist and really enjoyed it! We all had two orders of «Strait Up» Home Fries. These are tiny cubed golden delights seasoned with house fry seasoning. Look for the pumpkin orange truck and take advantage of their cooking skills!

I don’t know if it’s the great farmers market vibe, the perfectly executed comfort food(complete with shoestring fries, arugula, fried tomato, and fried egg), or the consistently-friendly service, but this place never ceases to satisfy. I hope they open up a brick & mortar one day.

Many food trucks are overrated one trick ponies that thrive on «local» ingredients, hipster beards and a desire for something new/cheap/unique. The Nomad seems to be more. I found them at the Sunday Bethesda Farmers Market. I was up early on a Sunday and really hungry. My original plan was to eat a more basic meal at home with some of the markets fresh bread. Instead, I ate from the truck and was glad I did. The Hot Mess is a meal put together in a container, eaten like an MRE or a Pamani Brothers sandwich: it’s all in there together and it’s great. There are sausage, home fries and a fried egg(see the photo I posted) on top. It has a spicy sauce and man oh man is it good. Someday I’ll be old and eating boiled chicken like my dad: until then give me some Hot Mess and let me live life as it was meant to be.

The culinary nomad is the culinary highlight of my weekend. I love their take on southern comfort food with a bit of a classical French twist, it’s the best of both worlds. The fried chicken sliders with honey and sriracha are delicious, and if you look you will find other vendors at the farmers market chowing down on them. I personally like their specials — they use local ingredients from other vendors at the market and make up something entirely delightful. You also can’t go wrong with the fried cheese grits, the nomad sauce, and the PHX. They’re also super friendly, so stop reading and treat yourself to a visit!

Yum! I love breakfast. So naturally, I love this food truck! If you love eggs and cheese, you’ll love this food truck too. While at my local farmers’ market last Sunday, I stopped by here and sated my hunger pains. I opted for a breakfast sandwich called The Purist. It’s a frittata made with eggs and Dubliner cheese, and yes, I cheated on my veggie diet and had two crispy pieces of bacon on top. It was so scrumptious! And well worth $ 6. The Culinary Nomad uses local eggs and breads. Talk about being a locavore, and at a farmers’ market of all places! You can find them at Pike Central Farm market on Saturdays, and Bethesda Central Farm market on Sundays. They cater too! I enjoyed my breakfast so much, but then I noticed the very small sign posted on their window announcing the day’s special: Fungus Among Us($ 7). I love mushrooms almost as much as I love eggs and cheese. I caved, and bought that too. It’s an open faced mixture of organic baby bellas and oyster mushrooms, white cheddar, and caramelized onions on a thick slice of bread that is topped with a fried egg. Yum! The two folks that operate this truck are super cordial and take their time to answer your questions about their creations. Now I know to skip breakfast before going to the farmers’ market next time. If you find yourself at one of the above mentioned markets, then this is the first place you should stop. Skip the crêpe. Skip the waffle, Skip, no run, to The Culinary Nomad food truck.
