Specialties
Street Level Cycles is a community bicycle shop that combines a do-it-yourself studio with a youth education program, creating a space in which members of the community can fix their bicycles for free while supporting local vocational training. Professional staff and shop interns are available three times a week (Friday-Sunday 12−6pm) to assist with repairs and five times a week (Wednesday-Sunday 12−6pm) to sell rebuilt bikes and rent bikes, which finance open studio time. Our goal is to promote sustainable transportation while teaching useful hand skills to the people of West Berkeley and the surrounding areas. Between the open shop and youth programs, we currently serve hundreds of community members each week.
History
Established in 2006.
We have come a long way since the days of huge unsorted piles of parts and inadequate supply of tools. Our staff along with our amazing volunteers have really improved the shop. Things are more efficient and smoother than ever.
