Just found a nice Boden top and Express skirt in my size, for cheap.
The girls were SUPER nice, too. Usually when I walk into a boutique, I’m wary that I’ll be either ignored or hit with attitude. Not here! Genuinely nice folks.

My favorite consignment store in the Bay Area so far. They have excellent customer service. I sell all of my clothes here when I’m done with them. They even have a $ 10 rack if you’re feeling super thrifty. I like that this place doesn’t smell, and they have a good selection of gently used and brand new designer clothing. The owner, Angela, has a good eye. I’m a stylist, and I’ve been to them all… Sola Lucy, Main St Rags, Labels, Knimble, and so many more. This place is small but it’s the best! What keeps me coming back is the customer service. I have to come at very least once a month just to see what’s happening.

Love this shop! So happy the always have a great selection of new & used organic cotton clothing.

I just had such a great experience at this store, I almost don’t have words for it… I walked in last minute, as I was walking down Solano, just to see if I could find a couple more things to take on a trip next week, and not only did I hit the jackpot and find about ten things – great labels, gently worn, very well-​maintained – that will work perfectly, Sunday is $ 20 off every $ 100 day, so I double-​scored. I avoid consignment most of the time because I can’t stand the «smell» of used clothing, both in the stores and on my body, but Urbanity’s clothing is fresh and in great shape. Plus, the buyer knows what she is doing… great brands, very current. What a treat! Also, the staff were helpful and kind. I’ll definitely be back!

I’ve always seen this store on Solano Ave and wondered about what they sold there. Finally, one evening, I decided to stop by and see. The store itself is on the small side and there are 4 small fitting rooms next to a tiny cash register. The set up is a little weird but none the less still kinda cute. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the lady working on price tags at the front and greeting again by another lady who was working the register. They were really kind and inviting.
They variety of clothes is consignment but they are good quality clothes and you can even find some great clothing brands here too. They are divided by sections and by what the clothing item is. They also carry some shoes, handbags, jewelry and other items of the like. Since it was a consignment shop, I expected the prices to be a bit lower but it was higher than expected which didn’t lead me to by anything but none the less the clothes were cute and so tempting to buy but for the price I rather just buy them new. I would visit again though if around the area.
Lastly, since this place is located on Solano Ave, the parking situation can get a bit crazy but somehow you always manage to find parking, which is great!

There are very nice clothes to choose from. Designer names and just casual wear. All good. The two stars are for the prices… I don’t know what to say… The prices are as if the clothes were new… Just as someone mentioned here, I would rather go to TJMAXX, get the same prices AND the clothes are new.

Love Urbanity. Great selection of clothing in a really cute shop. Angela, the owner, has an excellent eye and the prices are fair. I’m short and curvy and can typically find things that fit there, which is refreshing.

Disrespectful of people’s time! I and others waited at the door on day after Xmas to drop off clothes. Her website said they’d be open so I came back after seeing it wasn’t open til 11. I waited until 11:40. Supposedly this has happened before (per comments of others…) this along with the never-​friendly service turns me off! Probably for the last time!

I have been consigning and buying at Urbanity since just after it opened. Angela, the owner, is not only smart and savvy, she is kind and considerate and always thinking about ways to make her business stronger and better. Urbanity often hosts benefit sales that designate local charities as the recipients of the proceeds. Her gals are hardworking and courteous and will go out of their way to be accommodating.
My most treasured items in my closet come from this shop. I have the best shoe and boot collection (much to my husband’s chagrin) thanks to Urbanity. And the jewelry! Angela and her staff keep the inventory fresh and on trend and at good price points, for both buyers and consignors. Hands down, Urbanity is one of my favorite stores.

I had really bad experiences at Urbanity. I loved the place 3 years ago, but the more and more I go there, the worse is my experience. The employees are really unfriendly. I consigned some items and just found out that they donated it without informing me before. It so easy nowadays to have an automatic email sent to everyone reaching the date for the end of consignment that I can not understand that they are not doing it. It looks really unprofessional and dishonest. I will never consign any item again.

This is my second review of Urbanity — what can I say, I REALLY like this place! There are a lot more shoes now – yeah! But still the sizes are all jumbled up… boo!
The little loft upstairs now carries tween/​teen clothes — such a smart idea for our young fashionistas! Selection is pretty limited, but hopefully with time, there will be more to choose from.
So just a few suggestions — maybe reduce the cost on the lesser brand name stuff. I mean Old Navy, H&M and Target clothes can be cute, but if you are going to carry them second hand, they should be really, really inexpensive.
Also the hours are tough. Stores closed by 6? Hmm, working moms like me get off at BART by 6… could you stretch that to 7?
Also, how come you don’t list your hours on your website? Your site needs a little TLC.
Lastly, why don’t you take pics of your customers with their new Urbanity threads from time to time? I successfully consigned a pair of black 8.5 Loubiton pumps that sold super FAST and I would love to see who was the lucky girl!

Have consigned and bought there many times. Angela, the owner, is savvy and smart. They are generally not snobby as many employees in other consignment stores are (go figure) when they are looking thru your stuff, although some of the newer girls seem to be challenging this assessment… I think being cheerful matters. If you humiliate me, I WONT BE BACK AND YOUR BUSINESS MODEL DEPENDS ON ME. Anyway, the store is a great addition to Upper Solano and hope it does well!

I wasn’t impressed with this place.
I walked in, was greeted. Kind of browsed around but nothing caught my eye and the items I did look at weren’t worth the price.
Not sure why the ratings are high. I have no interest in returning. Go to Tj maxx or marshalls ;) brand new clothes for similar prices.

Awesome hidden gem, I would’ve know nothing about if not for Unilocal!Wonderfully organized and a great assortment of fashion forward and stylish clothing. Brands range from Anthropologie, Jcrew, BCBG, joie, and many other brand names. Clothing is in excellent condition if not new sometimes. Prices are reasonable given the designer of the clothes. There’s a good selection of sale clothing out front as well as inside the store that is 40% off. Sales associates are friendly but not in your face (which I like). They have a small selection of nice womens shoes as well as a few handbags. Will definitely be back to get some more fashionable and affordable clothes in the future!

Urbanity definitely gives the consumer a sense of self-​worth when you walk in. However, they could spruce up on their customer service detail. No greetings or a simple «hello» when you walk in. They simply ignore you and seem more interested in gossiping about their lives. Sounds like a small thing to bitch over but I’m big on customer service since I’ve worked in retail for years. I bought a pair of Seven jeans here and the girl ringing up my purchase looked like she didn’t like how I looked or ate a bad lunch. Smile, please! Their customer service is enough to knock two stars off this review.
On the plus side, it looks MUCH nicer than a Crossroads or Buffalo Exchange: everything is color coded and it doesn’t smell musty when you walk in, like most consignment stores tend to smell. They seem to carry more brand and designer names but you’ll see the occasional Old Navy or Forever 21 tags. I do love their selection of jeans so I always return here, regardless of their customer service. And they also have an awesome $ 15 rack!

CONSIGNORS BEWARE:
I’ve consigned with Urbanity several times and have not encountered any problems till recently. It was much like Ramona M.‘s experience where unsold items were not returned automatically as they should be. They put the onus on the consignor to be «accountable» instead, which is really not a way to run a business when they count on consignors for their inventory. Assigning blame to the consignors just make them look like they are deliberately being dishonest. Or just plain lazy. I liked this place, and really want to continue patronizing and trusting this place, but these «new policies» they just mentioned to Ramona paint a picture of laziness and dishonesty, whether they mean to or not. Furthermore, these supposed new policies are nowhere to be found on their website.
It does not matter whether an item has «sentimental value» or not to consignors, as in their response to Ramona’s review to suggest that people shoudn’t consign sentimental items. Technically, these items belong to the consignor, and if there is a choice provided as to whether they can be donated or picked up, both of those choices should be honored. PERIOD.
I too have called proactively, and ON TIME, to check on my consignments, TWICE, and waited till the consignment period was over to go pick up my unsold items (specifically marked to pick up rather than donate, and I showed up in time). They actually do not give you courtesy calls on when your consignment period is up, even if they claim to. They also do not provide a detailed list of what you consigned with them. It’s very vague, usually 1 clothing, 1 bag, etc. There is no further description of what the items are. Therefore I always add my own notes to the consignor slip while I’m still there, so I can keep track myself.
I got 3 unsold items back. Instead of getting a check right away like before, I had to put in a request to have a check cut, and then go back another time. I was accommodating and went back the following week to pick up my check. I should have looked at the check more closely while I was there. It wasn’t until I was home that I realized that the math did not add up. I had consigned about 10 items in 2 batches, within a day of each other. Only 3 sold, yet only 3 were returned. Where was the rest?!! Unfortunately, they don’t voluntarily give you the details of exactly what sold. I usually just wait for the breakdown printed on the check, since it has been clear and uneventful before.
I called back to question my unreturned items. The woman I spoke to tried to assign the usual blame in regards to picking up items on time. Which I told her I did, I’ve called and gone back to the shop several times. I received the unsold items… which means I did retrieve them on time. The question is, why was it only a PARTIAL batch of items? Then she backed off and said the items are probably not donated yet and she will go look in their storage warehouse. She said she’ll call me back later when she finds them. Fast forward several weeks later, with not a peep from them. Which means I have to call back again on my time to see which clueless person I get this time, and explain to them yet again what the problem is and maybe get another lecture on consignors needing to pick up items because, jeez, it’s never their fault.
The fact that consignors have to constantly police and purse these matters is beyond annoying and bad business practice. Whether it is deliberate dishonesty, disorganization, or simply laziness – wasting other people’s time like this is just WRONG.
I have loved the principle behind this shop and overall their staff have always been pleasant in person. But now I question whether this is just a recent change in their quality control or have they actually always been like this and ripping people off? I sincerely hope they review and adjust how THEY operate rather than just change their policy for consignors whenever they need to excuse themselves from their operational screw-​ups.

CONSIGNORS BEWARE !!!
Although this is a trendy, well located store it operates at the consignors expense. Very poorly managed. First, my items weren’t displayed as promised– had to call back several times.
When I went in to see what had sold, the sales person «didn’t have time to locate» 3 items that didn’t sell and clearly didn’t have a clue or clear records (tho’ I was paid for a couple of items). I was promised that my unsold items would be returned and after several calls back and several months this hasn’t happened.
Angela the manager never returned my calls or emails. It’s unfortunate when a business profits at the consignors expense. It’s also unfortunate when a business is therein unethical and free-​weilding with consignors items that were my mothers and still had value to me.
Had a totally different experience at Sola Lucy on Delaware St. off of 4^th Street in Berkeley. I’ve consigned LOTS of things– too bad there’s some «bad apples».
Update: 10÷15÷11
After at least 3 calls and unanswered emails and several months of not hearing back from Urbanity per the unreturned items I’d consigned, I finally received my unsold item back (by mail) and compensation. The manager responded on Unilocal within 24 hours and I received the mailed items within about 5 days of having posted on Unilocal.The squeaky wheel gets the… box! Go Unilocal

I love Urbanity! I have sold many items of clothing, shoes, handbags, and accessories here. The staff is always very respectful, nice, and helpful in answering any questions I may have.
For the most part, I like the items they have in the store. I have seen some gorgeous silk dresses that I lusted after. I do think that the prices can be a little hefty, but they do put items on sale quite often. If you’re into designer duds, this is a great place to pick up some staples without creating a burning hole in your wallet.

The clothes are in near-​perfect condition and the store is organized in a way that’s easy to shop. You won’t find Chanel, Dior or Givenchy, but instead mainstream labels like Diane von Furstenburg, Banana Republic, Vince and a large selection of fancy jeans. I did spy a Forever 21 shirt that was labeled for $ 25 which is probably more than it cost new, but other than that, prices seemed reasonable.
Urbanity Style Sharing also has a great jewelry selection that includes local designers like this 10-​year-​old boy’s designs that is fantastic. I can’t get one of his necklaces out of my head, so might have to go back and buy it.

I totally dig this store. The quality of the clothing that they have is stellar. It’s organized well. The sales associates were super nice and helpful. The prices are pretty reasonable especially for the designers that they have. I bought a sweater and and a cute tank in prep for the summer weather!
If you provide your email, they can send you notices about upcoming «trunk shows» where designers bring their pieces to sell accompanied with wine and cheese.
