called pocket door specialist again on a second sliding door problem, same building, different apartment. original wooden sliding door, 116 years old, stuck. again, he fixed it efficiently, perfectly. this time he had to break into the wall, but actually repaired the wall before he left. we only had to do a bit of sanding and touch up paint. barry came through again, second time, and within two days of our call. i still recommend him very highly.

Just had a great experience with Barry. To be honest, we were a little bummed when we first contacted Barry, because we had a month long wait to get an appointment. After checking around, we received tons of advice to wait it out, and we were definitely glad we did. Barry did a great job of fixing our 100 year old doors and explained how to do minor adjustments and fixes in future. He also custom built a couple of stoppers so we don’t lose our doors in the wall. We really appreciate the way he gave us options regarding fixes and their prices so as to not overcharge us. Would highly recommend Barry again to anyone with pocket door problems.

I am so grateful to have discovered Barry Wagner to repair our vintage pocket door from 1910! He is very talented and knowledgable. When I emailed him a blurry picture of the hardware in the door track that was stuck, he knew exactly the manufacturer and year of production of our particular hardware set — a 1910 Elmer Pitcher track and carrier system, which happens to be a poorly constructed model that commonly malfunctions.
Since we ended up needing to do a complete replacement of all hardware, trim down the door, lay new tracks, etc, etc, the work was more expensive than the landlord was originally hoping to spend but ultimately a great investment. You definitely get what you pay for in this situation. He was even able to fix the door without opening the wall, which was very cool since we won’t have to have that patched up. We hope to use Barry again for any future pocket door needs; we have had a very positive experience ourselves and would highly recommend his services :)!

Mr Wagner came over in the afternoon to investigate what the problem was with my pocket doors, one of the doors was stuck. We had a pocket door that had been horrible for the past five years. After being so sick and tired of this darn door, I called Barry who gave me a quote on the phone, then in email. I made an appointment for him to come out to Walnut Creek. As it turned out, our door was a bit complicated as the original owners of our home added wood to the door which made fixing it it more complicated. Luckily I found Barry on Unilocal to help fix my broken pocket door. Most other contractors I spoke with said they’d have to open the walls and do this and that… but Barry was able to fix my door without tearing up anything. We were planning a remodel which involved a very unique sliding wall system to separate our bedroom from our bathroom. After reading the rewards on Unilocal,we contacted Barry, and based on our plans he gave us a very reasonable and detailed quote. What was really amazing, however, was that when he looked at our place he came up with alternative suggestions to this sliding wall system that made the whole remodel so much better. Unfortunately for Barry, this new design did not require his expertise, such that we never had the pleasure of working with him. But he was a true professional who looked out for our best interests.

We had Barry out a couple of weeks ago to replace the tracks on 5 pocket doors in our home. They were constantly coming off their tracks, and we were tired of fussing with them.
Barry was very professional in communicating his approach to the work and his charges, and he provided a written contract for me to sign and return to him. (I love contracts. No room for misunderstandings.)
Since I am not familiar with this area of home repair, I asked Barry if I could have my regular repair person call him to discuss the job. Barry readily agreed, and after speaking with him, my repair person said Barry clearly knew what he was doing and could do the work for less money, in less time, and with much less inconvenience than he could himself do.
The job went smoothly and I now have pocket doors that float open and closed and that won’t come off their tracks no matter how hard my one year old, energetic lab runs into them. Worth every penny we spent.

Highly recommended. I stupidly pushed a pocket door open too hard in frustration and that thing was wedged back in the wall. I tried various strategies to get a grip on it and get it out, but it wasn’t budging.
I called Barry on a Thursday night and he fixed my door Saturday morning. Had to make a couple small holes in the wall, but pretty minimal for how badly the door was off track. He was very efficient and charged significantly less than his estimate.

Barry knows his pocket doors! He has a wide range of experience in different mechanisms of pocket doors, and can quickly diagnose what the problem is. He can usually fix the issues without having to make holes in the wall and he can get a close-​up look at the mechanism with his boroscope.

He showed up with an array of specialized tools, and in a couple of hours he adjusted the trim so it didn’t rub any more, trimmed the bottom of the doors so they no longer rub the floor, and generally repaired and tuned them up. It’s a bit like getting a an adjustment from a chiropractor — quick and painless and then that pain that’s been bugging you for years is gone. Well worth it.

Personally I hate pocket doors, but my husband loves them. He insisted we find someone to repair ours and after thinking that no one repairs that type of door, was I surprised to find Barry.
He is great, he know his doors and is able to get them fixed and working with no trouble. He was a pleasure to have come to the house, very neat and tidy, and personable. I had a unique problem since one wheel was off the track and I didn’t want to cut a hole in the dry wall to fix the problem. He managed to use special tools and techniques to get the wheel back on track. It was a quick job but I was thankful nevertheless.
