Andy just completed a second project for me and couldn’t be happier. First project was to change my kitchen cabinets to drawers — best money I ever spent. Second project was to change countertop to granite and install new sink, faucet and range hood, all while keeping my original cabinets for cost savings. Andy and Marco were wonderful throughout. They understood my goals, found the best solutions, worked hard and creatively to work through the kinks of keeping original cabinets, were professional, fair and considerate throughout. They even considered the impact of no sink for a family of five, and made special efforts to ensure we had a functioning kitchen for the weekend. Can’t recommend Andy and his son Marco more highly.

My husband and I chose Andy for our kitchen remodel because we saw the work Andy did on our neighbor’s house. This had involved completely gutting and redoing the kitchen (and the rest of the house) and it turned out beautifully.
We didn’t mind our kitchen layout, what we wanted was upgraded counter tops, new appliances and backsplash and replacing a small dishwasher with a regular sized dishwasher.
Andy and Marco were great to work with. Their estimate was reasonable and reliable. Andy was upfront about challenges and setbacks and how to resolve them. He was good at communicating and always provided detailed emails with any questions he needed answered as the work progressed. It is clear he has many years of experience and knows how to make a project go smoothly (i.e. — what needs to be done upfront, what to buy and when, what NOT to do, etc.). He guided us through working with Granite Expo (which can be a challenge) and the results are beautiful. We have exactly the kitchen we had hoped for within the budget we had planned for.
Andy and Marco are honest, reliable and very experienced. I would highly recommend them for your kitchen remodel or any other remodel work you have planned.

) for home remodeling work. We bought a fixer-​upper in Albany last year that needed a ton of work, and he and his son Marco came through for us in a big way. They remodeled several rooms — a complete kitchen remodel, two complete bathroom remodels, and extensive work in three other rooms.
We are very happy with all of his work. His attention to detail is impressive, and he had a lot of creative solutions for dealing with the kinds of problems that come up in older homes. His prices are very competitive, and he was very good at working within our budget and timeframe.
He’s also an all-​around nice guy and very easy to work with (as is his son). He communicated his progress each day, even e-​mailing us on days when we didn’t cross paths. The remodeling work could have been a really stressful time for us, but it turned out to be fine, thanks in large part to Andy.
We’ll definitely call him the next time we need work done on our home.

Andy and Marco came back to fix my shattered skylight, and did an excellent job for a very good price. The replacement skylight I had ordered was too long, but Andy made it work anyway, using materials we already had to do so. Then, as he was leaving after a job well done, he quickly reattached my thermostat to the wall. The thing had been hanging there on a sad little wire for over a year, but is now looking classy. Thank you again, Andy!

Ok, 5 years after the kitchen remodel, I hired Andy for a 2^nd bathroom remodel, which the original owner of the house did a really shoddy job on. Odd placements, weird wall angles, ugly outdated tiles. This bathroom was an eyesore and frankly an embarrassment when we had guests over.
Andy and Marco (his son who works for him) did beautiful work, making lemonade out of lemons as they say. Andy’s skill in woodwork came in really handy this time, as he was able to create simple yet clean and nice looking custom pieces to cover up all those funky angles.
Andy is still great to work with. The best part is that he is just easy to get a hold of and discuss any issue and/​or concerns. We all heard horror stories about dealing with home improvement folks being extremely difficult to reach, not showing up when they are supposed to, etc. Well, those concerns are non-​existent with Andy.
As he himself says, he isn’t the cheapest but he sure isn’t the most expensive either. I am glad I have Andy as a contractor who I can count on for any future home related repairs.

Andy did a fantastic job on my hardwood floor installation. Strand bamboo floor, I bought all the materials plus the quietwalk underlayment, he and his team came over and knocked it all out in one day, a 300 square foot studio. I compared his prices to other folks and he was very competitive, maybe a tad higher, but worth it for the peace of mind of it being done the right way. Highly recommended.

Looking to upgrade our kitchen and master bath — with the great recommendations I’ve had with Unilocal on many things I thought I would try my luck and search for a contractor here. After talking to this guy he seems like a real jerk and told me upfront that he was *real* expensive… no shit Sherlock… if I am calling you to request quotes for marble and Ceasarstone work (not tile and ikea) then I obviously have some $$$ but if you’re too stupid to be professional and request an onsite visit or draft guess-​timate until researching the final details than YOU don’t deserve my well-​earned money.
Oh well… the search continues…

Andy came by to check out a problem with our flooring. As it turned out, the problem wasn’t as big as he thought – he could easily have tricked me into paying a lot for unnecessary work, but he was very honest and explained that the job didn’t require an expensive contractor, then charged me only part of the fee, although I had booked him for the entire day. I felt very confident that he knew what he was talking about; I would definitely hire him when I do need a bigger job done!

My wife and I had the best experience with Andy. He just finished building a new bathroom in our El Cerrito home. He converted our closet, expanded it, and turned it into a gorgeous bathroom with a skylight. He also did major electrical and plumbing work. He handled administrative issues with the city planning office too. Regarding price, he gave us the most competitive bid and stuck to it. At every point along the way he did whatever he could do to make us happy. A member of his crew is his son, who did a lot of painting throughout our house for — by far — the most competitive possible price. Andy has a great sense of humor and he makes himself available at any time throughout the day and week.

Andy and crew came back for a small additional project — renovating a side deck on our house that had a dry-​rot problem. I wanted to save some money by doing a bit of the work myself and Andy worked with me to build a custom work-​plan. He really went the extra mile on little touches during the project (in some cases at his own cost) and ‘did what it took to make the project turn out great (both in terms of looks and in terms of functionality like safety and waterproofing). My previous impression of Andy as a great contractor was upheld by this project!

Andy was an absolute hoot to work with. Great morals and ethics along with a terrific sense of humor. He also thinks outside the box and is very creative with what you got. Gives great advice and really knows his stuff. Marco and Alex who worked with him were terrific as well and super sweet. I highly recommend him and his team!

Andy and his team installed new floors (hardwood and tile) in our condo and built two new closets. He was a pleasure to work with, easygoing, fun to talk to, very professional, punctual, practical, and attentive to detail. If he noticed that something was not working, even outside the scope of his contract, he would always try to fix it or give us advice on what to do. He was very patient with the many revisions of the closets we’d given him. We also really appreciated Andy’s attention to our time and budget constraints. We would gladly hire Andy again and wholeheartedly recommend him to all.

Andy remodeled our kitchen for us. I loved working with him because he is easy to get ahold of, easy to talk to, and has great ideas about how to make things most functional, most attractive, and least expensive. He and his team are punctual and careful. They got our project done ahead of schedule and on budget. I’ve been loving our kitchen ever since, and would call Andy in a heartbeat for any other remodels or work we do in the future.

Andy and his team converted a musty old den into a bright, shining laundry and multipurpose room. His bid was fair, the work proceeded in a timely fashion and the various minor issues that arose were all resolved easily. He and his crew were polite, clean and on time. Most importantly, the quality of their work was excellent and we are very pleased with our new room. The job involved removing old fake wood walls and a long, narrow «closet,» installing new plumbing and electrical systems (done by another contractor, Fighting Amish, which does very good work), installing a fair amount of wallboard, painting the walls and ceiling, and laying a laminate floor. For a small room, it was somewhat complex, and everything came together very nicely in the end. We recommend Andy and his guys.

I hired Andy and his crew for what began as a small kitchen job. On second look, though, we found extensive water damage. Boy, am I glad I hired Andy. He’s an excellent tile guy — the reason I hired him was for his tile skills. He came highly recommended. But when the job turned into one requiring electrical, plumbing, carpentry and the complete rebuilding of the kitchen sub-​floor, the job could have cost much more if I had needed to use several different contractors.
But Andy and company can do it all. It saved me thousands and I really appreciate their ability to give good estimates and their attention to detail.
Highly recommended for any kitchen or bathroom remodel.
