Specialties
The Academy is an independent K-8 school located in the Elmwood district of Berkeley. For 45 years, our teachers have stimulated our students to crave and enjoy learning. By challenging and nurturing them, we create an ideal environment for motivated learners.
We limit each grade level to twelve students K-5 and fifteen students 6 – 8. K-5 is taught by one core teacher who provides instruction in Language Arts, Math, and Social Studies. In addition, each student has five specialist teachers in Art, French, Music, Science, and Physical Education. Upon entering 6th grade, students will also receive instruction in Latin and Art History.
Our school’s warm atmosphere complements its academic rigor. The students feel at home at The Academy and form strong friendships across grade levels. Tours are offered weekday mornings, by appointment. We encourage you to visit and see for yourself the deep and meaningful learning in which our students are engaged!
