Solano Jewelers is a family owned and operated fine jewelry store. We are conveniently located in the heart of Berkeley, California. Established in 1977, this second generation store was situated on the historic Solano Ave.

Today, Solano Jewelers is still a mainstay when it comes to exquisite fine jewelry, the finest conflict-​free diamonds and gemstones, custom designs, elegant watches, in-​house jewelry and watch repair. We are one of only a few jewelry stores that do on-​site jewelry and watch repairs, in fact, we are often referred by other jewelry stores. I am writing this about my husband’s great experience with Solano Jewelers yesterday. Few weeks ago he purchased a diamond tennis bracelet for a present for me. After sizing it up we learned that several stones/​links need to be pulled out of it so it would fit properly. Yesterday he drove around to no less than four jewelry stores trying to find someone to do the work. One place wanted $ 420 and two weeks wait time. Two others just refused the work. In desperation he was driving on Solano Avenue and came upon this little shop Solano Jewelers. Not only did they take the work for much less money, but they were able to get it done while he waited, just amazing. The work was really first class too. Excellent service and experience. From now this is the only place for us to go.
We highly recommend this place for any work you need to have done. This is how jewelry stores used to be — we are pleased to find one still exists.

I trust Solano Jewelers with my irreplaceable jewelry, including my grandmother’s antique ring. Over the years, they have done several significant repairs to the ring, always with great care and consideration.
At one point, I was facing a major effort to care for the ring and Solano Jewelers talked me through the options, including frank discussion of the costs of each option. I decided to have them repair the ring rather than put the stone in a new setting. Years later I am still very happy with that choice.
Solano Jewelers is a family owned business that has been part of the community for a long time. I hope they will be here for many years to come!

I’ve used this family for many years. While it was sad to see the father pass away last year, his right hand was his daughter, Aleen, who has all the style and panache one would want. If she doesn’t have it in the store, she will get it for you. Her designs are tasteful, her service friendly and professional.

I went to Solano Jewelers to have a ring resized and a clasp on a chain replaced. The service was friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable. But the best part was that the jeweler cleaned my chain and completely buffed and polished my ring too. The ring looks better than when I got it 20 years ago. Again, the price was very reasonable. I’m so glad I went here to get my stuff worked on, and I’m sure I’ll be back again in the future.

I moved to the bay area 2 years ago and I’ve been to several different jewelers in the east bay, by far Solano Jewelers is the BEST!
They are very knowledgeable, kind and their prices are quite resaonable. They’ve become my «1 stop shop» jeweler, really! I typlically go there for jewelry repairs and I’ve bought a few items, (the lady there definitely knows her stones), but little did I know, they do custom work and appraisals too. I was pleasantly surprised at all the services they offer!
I recently bought a very sweat, danty gold and diamond pendant necklace. It came with a brown silk chain, which I loved, (so unique)! I call it my «convertible necklace», b/​c I can switch out the material silk chain and dress it up with a gold chain. (Which I also bought there).
I get compliments on it all the time. They have great merchandise and I recommend them to everyone. And not just for their great service, but for their quality and expertise!

I even really do not want to give One star to this place. i should have reviewed this place in Unilocal before I go over their. the honor or the person who was fixing the watch was so rude. i went their to replace battery and shortening the chain of my watch. He was behaving so rudely with me. I was so pissed of. But still I stayed calmly and listened to him. at the time of payment he asked me 46 dollars for just that much I said why it is so expensive, and he replied me I spend a lot of time with your watch a even he did not spend like 20 minutes. I asked Ok I am ready to pay but can you give some discount as you are charging me so much he said, no. I replied him for this much money i could buy a new one.
As a answer he said you cannot get Rado. what is his problem. that rado was mine and i was their to chenge a battery. from their I knew that he do not know how to interact with costumers and he charges the money by looking at the brand of watch not by uniform and standard price. I called Oaks jewelers (which is just two blck away from this solano jewelers) to ask their price to change the battery and shortening the band of watch and they said its 7 dollars each. I regret going at this rudely operated solano jewelers shop… and I do not want other customer to regret like I did…

I’ve had a ring re-​sized here twice and will not return. I took my engagement ring here last year and was impressed with the cost and service. The woman who assisted me was nice and service was detailed. Then I lost my ring a few months back and had to repurchase the same exact ring. I brought it into Solano Jewelers last week to have it re-​sized from an 8 to a 5. The man (owner?) working there told me that because of the large decrease in size he might have to do additional work to ensure the stone was not loose. I said that was funny since I had the exact same thing done last year and no one mentioned anything like that. His response was to shrug and basically say «let’s see about that». When my fiancé went to pick up the ring, we were charged the additional cost for work done to secure the stone. This all may be entirely plausible and my ring turned out fine but I do find it odd that we had the exact same thing done to the exact same ring but now it costs $ 20 more. Plus the service was just crappy this time around.

I brought in an expensive watch for what I thought was a battery replacement. The sign in the window says he specializes in watches. He took it apart and told me it was not the battery but needed a «servicing» which would cost $ 150. The watch is not that old. I said no thank you. He also lost one screw in taking off the back and put in one that did not fit well
I then took it to OAKS JEWELERS where I usually go. They put in a new battery and it was just fine. They replaced the ill fitting screw at no chg. So I will never be going back to Solano Jewelers as they cannot be trusted. i

I am a careful consumer and did my research before I ventured out to talk to a jeweler about selling some gold and having a necklace examined. The high rating here for Solano Jewelers is well-​earned as far as I am concerned because I definitely received the outstanding service I had hoped for.
If you need to speak with a knowledgeable and fair professional in the jewelry business, pass by the others and stop at Solano Jewelers. I know I will keep going back with confidence.

We were having lunch @ Zachary’s pizza which is a few stores down from Solan jewelers when we stumbled upon this hidden gem. It is such an adorable store with a variety of very nice pieces! I needed my watch’s battery changed and the owner did it while I waited! By the time my table was ready at Zachary’s, so was my watch! He was super sweet and has been in the biz for ages. You can tell he is very knowledgeable and intelligent and has a great personality too! His very nice and personable daughter was also there and she showed us some of their beautiful diamond pieces, which we absolutely loved! She also said that they can ciustom order and custom make anything that we wanted. Tehy have great prices too! They were both so very helpful and sweet. I highly recommend avoiding the mall markups and doing your holiday shopping here. You will get the most for your money, definitely!

I have driven from Alameda To Berkeley to Use this Jeweler. His prices are fair (reasonable). His work is good and he stands behind it. I will continue to use him and refer friends to him. For repairs, Solano Jewelers is the best jewelry store in Berkeley. The jeweler can fix anything, from a gold watch to an old clock with its hands rolling around in the glass case. I have gone to Solano Jewelers for years and the work has been consistently excellent and the prices fair.
The jeweler’s daughter helps out sometimes. She is friendly and helpful. Father and daughter both get my highest rating.

I highly recommend Solano Jewelers. The owner and his daughter are very interesting, spirited, and informative, and the work they’ve done for me was very reasonably priced and efficient. I had my engagement ring sized and appraised, and was so pleased with the job they did that I just took in my fiancé’s future wedding ring to be engraved. So far I have only used them for jewelry repair, but the jewelry they offer also seems very nice and reasonably priced. Definitely a mom-​and-​pop business worth supporting!
