The Piano Lessons You’ve Always Wanted
Is this you…
You took lessons when you were a kid. You played only classical music. You lost interest about the time you started listening to rock (or folk, or jazz). You stare wistfully at the piano now, wishing you had learned to play the music you most enjoy. You envy people who play by ear.
Well, it’s not too late. You can learn jazz, blues, rock, and pop music as well as classical. Study improvisational theory and technique as well as written music. Don’t settle for half-way piano instruction. Explore the full measure of your desires and abilities.
All levels and ages welcome. Special attention given to advanced classical players who want to «cross over.» Lessons can be done at the studio or in the comfort of your own home.
History
Established in 1981.
When Sam Rudin was a very young man (a long time ago) he realized there weren’t many piano teachers who could deal with jazz, blues, and rock the way that musicians actually played — utilizing chords, scales, and rhythms in an improvisational context. And the ones that could do so had nothing to say to the children and beginners who were not ready to improvise but who were more excited by pop music than they were by the traditional classics.
So Sam set out to fill that gap, and he has been getting rave reviews from children and adults ever since.
Sam’s methodology is unique. He uses the students’ favorite songs as his primary text, writing out personalized arrangements, tailored to their levels and abilities, but always keeping the feel and flavor that makes it sound «real» and fun to play.
Thus enticed, Sam’s students invariably make unexpectedly great strides in an unexpectedly short period of time.
