This review is long overdue — We worked with Kimmich Construction on a major rehab of our 110 year old Victorian. (New plumbing, heating, electrical, kitchen, bathrooms, flooring etc) They are so easy to work with, come up with great ideas in the process and deliver quality work — not to mention on budget and with a smile — I really appreciated the always positive and friendly interaction and communication even during the worst phases of the remodel.

Ben helped us do a bunch of different projects on our house. We completed gutted and remodeled our kitchen, put in new plumbing, put a plywood floor down in our attic and added electricity up there, put in some new winders, put on a new roof, built new front stairs and painted the house. Ben was the general contractor on the whole job. He was a pleasure to work with and we felt that the quality of work was high. When we had any questions or concerns, Ben was responsive and accommodating.
We had taken out a 2d mortgage and had a limited budget to do all of this work, soe we wanted to do a lot of the purchasing ourselves and Ben really worked with us. We also had some specific windows to do the work, particularly the kitchen, and Ben and his team worked tirelessly during the two weeks that we were on summer vacation to demo the kitchen and do all of the super messy work while we were away. It was pretty remarkable.

I wish there were a way to indicate ten stars for Benjamin Kimmich. He works with the very best craftsmen. They truly do beautiful work. Even before I worked with Benjamin directly, he referred me to someone on his team to help with kitchen cabinets who can only be characterized as a master of wood art. Then Benjamin helped me solve a time-​sensitive bathroom issue before company was due. He went to bat for me on a sidewalk issue with the city. But the pièce de résistance — the installation of sub-​floor radiant heating — well, everything just worked beautifully and I am in heaven. I can’t say enough about how smoothly the process has gone. Benjamin and the guys he works with are 100% amazing — they don’t get any better.

I am thankful that we chose Ben and his team to renovate our kitchen and bathroom. He spent much time early on (during the bid process) listening to our ideas, our concerns, and continued to provide expert opinion and estimated costing to help us make decisions. He was INCREDIBLY patient from start to finish.
We had a few snags throughout the process, but nothing that Ben didn’t help overcome (either by taking a cost hit himself) or helping work thru the problems in other ways. At no point did I feel Ben try to take advantage of a novice (like myself) but instead was very fair in how we handled various situations.
We finished the project ON TIME (two months), ON BUDGET, and the look of our kitchen/​bath is incredible. I really couldn’t be happier with how everything worked out.
I really recommend you ask Ben to help you think thru your potential project and provide a bid, as I can assure you that the work will be great and I think you’ll find his price estimates to be quite reasonable.

Before moving into our 1 bath home in Berkeley, we knew the bathroom would have to be completely gutted and redone. Ben and his crew knew we wanted to move in as soon as possible and got to work right away, even working some weekends to get the job done quickly. They were so easy to work with and kept the job site clean and clutter free. I’ve used them again to re-​do the laundry room which included electrical work and relocation of a gas line. I highly recommend them and would not hesitate to call them for additional work on our home.

After buying second floor flat in an Edwardian building in SF, we had Ben Kimmich completely renovate our kitchen and bathroom, which including putting in new electrical and plumbing as well as the usual cabinets, tile, countertop, etc. He was great to work with — straightforward, honest, accommodating and very patient. Ben was at the job site throughout the project and did a lot of the work himself. Best of all, he always kept our budget in mind and made a lot of valuable suggestions to help us stay within our limit. Our building is not easy to work in, given the lack of street parking, tight space and neighbors both above and below us. But Ben made the entire process not only bearable for us, but also for our neighbors. If we ever need anything else done, I would not hesitate to call Ben again.

When my husband and I bought our house in Albany, we had a short time frame to get a lot of work done. We needed to upgrade our electrical and make the house’s only tiny bathroom a bit more user-​friendly. After talking to several contractors, we chose Ben. Ben was not only the most cost effective, but he also was the most timely in communicating with us. He completed the projects in time for us to move in. Our bathroom is now one of our favorite rooms. He moved a wall, installed a new sink, toilet, medicine cabinet, light fixture, and tiled the floor. He also encouraged us to get radiant heating which was a great decision!
As first-​time home owners, we were worried about finding a quality, trustworthy person who could help us prioritize projects and stay within our budget. Thankfully, we found Ben. We continue to work with Ben on smaller projects to ensure that our house is in tip-​top shape.
