History

Established in 1995.

Steve started his venture (or adventure), Karmakanix, on 10^th and Dwight in Bekeley, CA, specializing exclusively in Audi and VW repair and maintenance. Although Karmakanix was formed in ’95 he had been building a relationship with the local community for more than a decade before that. After many years on 10^th Street and with the addition of employees, including our current Service Manager Nino Mogro, Karmakanix moved it’s location to 1453 4^th Street and continued its expansion into the new millenium, here in West Berkeley. After 8 years, many changes and adding Porsche to the roster, we moved into a bigger facility, around the corner on 707 Jones Street. Come check us out, you don’t always have to have a problem with your car to stop by!

With many decades of Audi/​VW experience under his belt, Karmakanix owner Steve Nechodom has built his shop maintaining a philosophy based on honesty, integrity, and customer-​oriented service. Over the years Steve has become known as a Guru in the local Audi/​VW scene, especially when it comes to Vanagons, TDI’s, and Biofuel related issues. Steve also has many other passions away from his love for cars. You can catch him playing one of his many didgeridoos and guitars, or blowing glass down in West Berkeley. He spends many weekends escaping the city, headed for Yosemite for a weekend of climbing. So if you ever want to talk cars, art, didges, or outdoors, come pop into Karmakanix and say hi!
