We provide lively one-​to one tutoring in person or online to enhance your oral and written English communication skills. We also help with test preparation, college and job applications, essay wrting and resumes. In fact we can help you in just about any area of the English Language your heart desires.

History

Established in 2014.

I have taught for 25 + years and love teaching and students. In the SF Bay Area I have taught at: The Athenian School, UC Berkeley Extension, Laney Community College and at the the University of California Berkeley Summer School. In addition, I have taught overseas. In the past year I received many requests for private classes and so in December 2014 English Over Easy was launched.

I’ve been working with Sile to kickstart my creative writing practice for almost a year now, and she is amazing! I’ve always wanted to write, but needed some structure and encouragement to get started (and keep going). Sile is the best editor I know – she’s an extremely careful and thoughtful reader, with a great ear for language and a sharp eye for grammar. I’m a native speaker, but I feel like Sile is teaching me English. I work with Sile remotely, and she is always available, prompt and efficient. She is warm and supportive without sacrificing toughness and precision. She’s introduced me to other writer friends, and even convinced me to apply to a workshop for the first time. I am a native English speaker so I don’t need Sile’s tutoring help. However, I have tried myself to help people learn English and I find the blog on this site VERY helpful. Sile has a way of distilling what seems to me to be complicated rules of the English language into easy to understand, easy to follow guidelines. I highly recommend her as a tutor, either in person or online, for English language learners.
