Berkeley Wright’s Automotive Service, Inc

4÷7÷16 — 2:00 p.m. For three days I have been promised that the bumper on my car would be ready. I am told every day the same thing: «Come back tomorrow». The two workers I have seen are both very excellent, but are hampered by their boss who it seems is never on the premises except to turn on the alarms and yell at people, and prioritize cars in some strange fashion to be completed. My repair job is just a bumper that needs to be painted to match the other bumper and then fastened after it is painted. Here’s the deal:
«Don’t tell me my car is going to be ready, unless you really can KEEP YOUR WORD». Bottom line. If you tell me that it won’t be ready until such and such a date, I can make the decision whether or not I want to leave it with you. Or I can make the decision to come back. But, seriously, why can’t you just tell people the truth?
I am unhappy and really want my bumper back. I am ready to go to a repair shop that understands the word ‘INTEGRITY’.
Will follow up with result tomorrow if I do not get my car bumper by then.
4÷7÷16 — 4:33 p.m. Follow up: Spoke with the owner Dave and he is assuring me that by 2:00 p.m. tomorrow the bumper will be painted and installed on the car.
Will follow up tomorrow to see what happens.

I came in for quote due to a small fender bender accident I was thrilled with the cleanliness of the office, the receptionist was very informative and helpful she was able to get me with Ryan and was able to give me a quote with a short turn around time. I decided to leave my vehicle since it was a one stop shop and enterprise rental was on site it was so efficient for my needs. My car was suppose to take 3 days and it was done the next day. If I ever need work for anything I will be back. Thank you Berkeley Wright’s for getting me back in the road so fast.

Geico adjuster no-​showed my appointment. When talking with someone from Wright’s Auto, prices kept changing. Things felt shady, not looking to return.

I would like to give zero stars, but Unilocal makes you pick at least one to be able to post…
After being rear ended, Geico sent me here to get my estimate and repairs done. The level of service is horrible. The employees are rude, organized, and have no idea what they are doing. The receptionist is always on her phone texting and when you expect her to do her job she gets annoyed. I was told my vehicle was done, but when I picked it up, noticed several issues. One major piece was put back damaged and when I pointed it out, they claimed it was on order. No one told me that. They were trying to cover their asses. They also left off several cosmetic details. When I pointed those out, they didn’t believe me. They said they would look it up and came back and said I guess your right. My car does not look the same. The trunk does not function the same. This shop is horrible. I am surprised Geico uses them .I am tempted to drop Geico just because of their association with this awful place.

Terrible customer service, rude, don’t know what they are doing or they assume you don’t know or will NOT notice botched job. Only came here because of GEICO sent me here! NEVER AGAIN!

Went there because Geico sent me for an estimate of my car damage. The service that I received wasn’t as expected. They seem no to care for customers. In my opinion, they were rude.
Won’t go there again.

Dropped my car off at the Cedar st location for Geico Express. Rick, the office guy was friendly and explained the process. They had my car finished on the day they specified. I picked up my car at the San Pablo Ave location and the guys there seemed to be friendly and knew what they were doing. I’d bring my car back there for service again.

After a minor paint repair I picked up my car from them and when I got home I noticed all the screws that hold the truck liner on were gone as well as the plastic cover to the trunk latch. I have to take it in again to have them install the parts they lost. I do not recommend them for repairs.

I went here through my Geico insurance, after my car was bashed in by a LOSER w a stolen car. Their customer service was great when I went to drop off my car. I went on a Tuesday, & they said my new rear light panel & new bumper would be ready by Thursday. Like other Unilocalers, I got the dreaded delay call. So my car wouldn’t be ready until Tuesday. Tuesday comes around & they tell me they couldn’t find the clips for my bumper, that I could go back for those. Fine by me! I was happy to get my car back. The new bumper looks great! & they lightly detailed my car. But wth, they replaced my back light panel, & now my turn signal is out! I don’t really want to take it back, so I think i’ll just have my hubby replace it.

The true test of a company is how they handle themselves when things go wrong. Wrights failed this test on all levels.
Their botched repairs caused electrical damage that cost $ 1,100 to diagnose and fix. I noticed incomplete repairs or new scratches repeatedly, which delayed return of my car. They went behind my back and tried to pin damage caused by incomplete repairs on me.

My ordeal of getting my car repair completed is ongoing almost 3 months after the accident. You can see my experience with Berkeley Wrights in my previous review but last time I left off I got the car back with some minor cosmetic damage remaining to the side mirror and the key-​fob sensors no longer working on the right side of the car.
After much back and forth with GEICO, I dropped off my car at Ford. It took them quite some time to make a diagnosis, which raised our collective eyebrow:
Ford discovered that Berkeley Wrights had mismatched the door handles and damaged the electrical wiring of the car in the process. GEICO sent their adjuster to Ford and approved the repair of the botched repair.
Since GEICO put the burden of proof on me to to show that Wrights had mishandled my car, I had to front those repair costs and the rental cost. I was also stuck with a banged up dirty non-​carpool-​eligible rental and extra insurance.
In the end it cost $ 1,100 to fix the damage done by Wrights. Thankfully GEICO had to pay for these expenses in the end but the numerous times I had to return to Wrights and the time wasted on getting rentals, meeting and corresponding with GEICO, and having the car fixed by Ford easily amounts to 15 hours of work. If I’d add the time lost because I could not use the carpool lane we’d be more at 25 hours.

If they can’t figure our where to put bolts that keep my car together, I cannot recommend this place.
I had a bumper, hood, and side panel replaced after a deer jumped on my car. Insurance sent me to Berkeley Wrights. It was repaired quickly and looked good but some months later my undercar cover fell to the ground while I was driving on the highway. When I pulled over to see what it was that I heard, I noticed there were connections for the bumper to the cover, some ripped open (indicating that there were bolts that ripped through) and others that were pristine.
Just think what other things they could leave off your repair.

The most incompetent business I’ve ever used. Here’s a summary of my experience. I want to preface this by saying the onyl reason I chose this place is because this is where Geico told me to take it. My experience was so bad I’m thinking about cancelling my policy with Geico.
–Dropped my car in on a Thursday. A log flew off a semi truck and hit my car. The car still worked ok, but the air conditioning wasn’t working. This was the main reason I brought my car in to get repaired. I could have cared less about the cosmetic damaged. They said it would be ready on Tuesday at 5pm.
–Tuesday mid day they text me to say it’ll be ready Wednesday at 5pm.
–Wednesday mid day they text to say it will be ready by Thursday at 5pm.
–This is wildly unprofessional as they have no sensitivity to the fact that their customers have to plan their week around not having a car. Pushing this date back more and more with just a few hours notice really ruined my week as I needed a car on Wednesday.
–I called them on Wednesday after getting their text to confirm with the receptionist that my car would in fact be ready by Thursday at 5pm. She confirmed that time. I worked until 6 so wouldn’t be able to get it until Friday morning at 8am. The receptionist confirmed that this would be fine.
–I show up on Friday at 8am only to discover that they mixed my car up with someone else’s.
–The manager came out and offered to cut my bill in half due to the confusion and stated that it would be ready on Saturday morning at 7:30. I needed a car at 8am so I agreed. I would have been fine had they actually fixed my car when they said they would.
–I show up the next morning right at 7:30. The car looked ok so I was relieved to just be done with them.
–After several hours of the car then heating up from being in the sun I went to turn on the air conditioner only to discover that it till wasn’t working. I called them immediately to speak to the manager. I was told he’d call me back right away. The manager never called.
–I bring my car back to them on Monday morning. The manager was laughing and smiling the whole time and explained with complete ineptitude that they just plain old forgot to fill the air conditioner liquid all the way. THe car was fixed in 15 minutes. There was also a gentleman I met in the waiting room who was fed up with the level of their stupidity and dysfunction.
Bottom line: don’t go here. This business needs to close to stop providing the community with such terrible service. People don’t have time to have their whole week shut down because their mechanic can’t get their heads out of their asses. If I treated my customers like this I’d be out of business, which is what I hope happens to this place.

I went to Berkeley Wright’s because my insurance recommended them. I was so surprised that the vehicle was ready when promised. This rarely happens in this business simply because of parts delays. The staff was excellent and polite. Berkeley Wright’s knows how to take care of there customers.

I never thought I would be able to change the initial impression I had with the shop; so I feel it is extremely important to acknowledge the positive and not always just the negative.
But, without going into a lot of issues that are not relevant to the end result, I have to admit that all earlier issues have been resolved to my satisfaction.
I will also admit, I am not an auto body expert nor an auto body mechanic, so I base my review on what I have experienced and resolutions provided.
The owner, David Kotolup provided professional and expert remedies and as of my recent interaction I would certainly return there for future auto work.
I found him honest and willing to work with his customers to their satisfaction. Thank you again.

Going to be honest, I read reviews I never write them. My car was promised before the weekend and I came to pick it up. They were running a little behind. But it was pretty busy when I arrived. (it is the weekend!) These guys got me into my car and it looks great. Thanks!

They said my car would be ready at 5 o’clock detailed and cleaned. I called in advance. When I showed up the car was not on location was not detailed and cleaned and now I’ve been waiting over an hour. Now I have to come back tomorrow again and have them detail my car in with another 30 minutes. The cars location is only eight blocks away and it’s taken them over 30 minutes to drive here they’re still not here yet. Super wack!!!

I rarely write a review but quality service should be recognized. All my previous service has been excellent. The last collision repair was done w/​in 48hrs.
Manuel, the shop supervisor was very attentive to my requests. No avoidance of doing the little bit extra that makes for 5 star ratings. It is to be expected that people may experience things differently given changing circumstances but this has been my experience with them to date.

At the office: The Geico adjuster was on site. Enterprise rental had a desk. I left my car at about 11am the day before Thanksgiving. It was ready on
their shop.
I’m happy with the repairs. If ever need any other bodywork done. I would be happy to use Berkeley Wright’s again.

Went here for a Geico collision adjustment. Everything worked out just fine.

Worked with Berkeley Wright on the repair of a vehicle. Excellent groups of guys. Very friendly and helpful. Also, they are very realistic on repairs, what it take and the timing of it all.
I would recommend using them for repair service based on their customer service alone, which I thought was far better then most of the repair shops I’ve dealt with. I will definitely recommend them to others.

I brought my car here twice because I live nearby and insure with Geico. Both times, the car was there for an extra week, and both times the agents pulled some shyster maneuvers under guise of cutting a good deal.
They cut corners, didn’t finish repairs, and use cheap parts. The value of my car has declined after being repaired here (declination do to accident aside).
They may not do this to everyone but they are certainly willing to conduct unscrupulous business. There are so many other options nearby, so why take a risk with a dubious shop?

I never write reviews; not because I have an aversion to it, but just because I don’t. So that should speak volumes to the fact that I am now!
These people are fantastic; not only did they fix everything wrong with my car, but they also washed the outside and cleaned the inside. I couldn’t be happier with the quality of the end result or the supreme customer service (additionally the fact that you can drop off your enterprise rental car here). I hope that no one crashes into me again, but if they do, I will definitely take my car here.

Wonderful customer service, excellent work on cars, and a dog-​friendly atmosphere. That’s all I need to be a repeat customer…
I first went to Wright’s after getting rear-​ended. I was at a stop and the guy was going fast, so the damage was pretty bad. Wright’s was the body shop my insurance company recommended. They did a great job with the work and finished in less time than they initially estimated. An added perk is that there’s an Enterprise located inside the shop so you can pick up a rental when you drop off your car. When I returned the rental, the Enterprise rep gave me a hard time about a little dog hair in the car. Dave from Wright’s overheard the conversation and offered to clean out the car for me, which was very much appreciated.
A few months later, I did my own damage in scraping against a pole. I returned to Wright’s and they took good care of me once again and even took the time to fix a separate ding on the house.

Body work is something you hope to never need. But when you do, Wright’s is a safe bet.

I just picked up my wife’s car and as soon as I got home noticed the paint bubbling in the area they just repaired. I did a quick visual at the place and it looked fine then. Obviously a bad paint job… Also the hood did not completely close unless pushed really hard… I am willing to ignore that but paint bubbling not! It is supposedly lifetime warranty by Geico…
Had to take it back and still found a little chip in the paint that was not fixed…
I guess I can keep taking it back but very dissapointed…

Brought my car in for some relatively minor auto body repairs after some genius forgot to yield and then tried to claim it wasn’t his fault, then took off. Got his plate number so the insurance company took care of everything at no cost to us.
They did a nice job and since I had a free rental car I wasn’t concerned how long the repair took. The only issue I had was that the front bumper wasn’t completely buffed out so there was a little residue left over. I mentioned it to them when I picked the car up and someone came out immmediately and took care of it. As if that’s not enough, I asked if he could try to buff something else out and he went right after it, doing a great job on that as well.
Overall a good shop in my experience.

I’m not a Geico customer, so when they suggested Wright’s because they are a recommended service and they backed up their work. I decided to go ahead and go. I was shocked! I’ve never had this great of service from any place dealing in collision repair.
I was skeptical because some of the reviews were on the negative side but I’m glad now I went.
These people followed up and were through about everything they did. They kept Geico and myself up to date.
They did not treat me any different than they would have any customer.
Yes, there is a lot a paper work, but it’s still worth it.

Bumper replacement took one week of work in order to get done. I’m not sure what «express» by Geico recommendation. Additional painting on other scraped area besides the accident area would cost a few hundreds to fix. There is definitely no free work in here like to other commented with free work on a bunch of dings. A continued scraped from my old bumper to side is still there. Nothing is above and beyond. They got your money and fix what it is and move on.
All the stars i would give are for their courtesy and kindness at the office.
