Stables At Seventh Mountain Resort

Im an experienced rider and have trailed at Black Butte and also Sunriver. We thought we would try this place since Sunriver can be pricey for 6 people. It was extremely disorganized we did not start our ride till 45 minutes AFTER our assigned time and this is not including the 30 minutes early arrival that we were told to do. The ride was subpar as we had paid for a private to be able to canter and we never cantered. The horses refused and then we found out they had just come off a 2 hour ride. If you want a dusty ride thru the woods. Go ahead. We will not be going back.

This stables is as good as it gets. The stables grounds is immaculate, not only well groomed with beautiful large trees and green grass but the stables area was clean from horse droppings even. When I arrived I was greeting by Debbie the owner she was very pleasant and friendly. Before they put me on my horse they noticed I was nervous. The guide took it very slow once I got on the horse my guide explained everything to me about safety and how to handle my horse. After we got on the trail I had the time of my life. The trail took us through the forest to a large river where they do white water rafting. I felt very safe with my guide and my horse named Rocky. If you plan on horseback riding this is the place to go. Thank you Debbie and Joel for giving me a great memory on my trip from St. Louis.

We had the greatest time on our trail ride with the Stables at Seventh Mountain Resort when vacationing in Bend. It was easy scheduling rides by phone and we got reservations that very same day. The staff are really friendly and they did a great job taking care of us. We signed up for the one hour trail ride that took us down to the Deschutes River and Lexi was our guide. She was fun and made us feel safe, especially for those of us who had no prior riding experience. I highly recommend this place!

Yay for a place with kind and patient staff for an impromptu pony ride while passing through the area. We had researched before our trip and ended up at a place that had for sale signs out front. We then used Unilocal (yay!) to locate the next nearest horseback riding. This took us to Diane’s Riding Place. There were people out front which was an improvement from the first stop but when we went to the office to Check In, there was, I assume, Diane YELLING and SCREAMING at the kids riding horses around the arena. We decided that wouldn’t be the best experience for our 6 year old who has ridden a pony at the fair once 2 years ago. Guessing the people who gave Diane high ratings in Unilocal would be yelled at if they did not :)
We then found the Stables at Seventh Mountain Resort (also on Unilocal) and I called, receiving a recording for the pony ride schedule. We showed up and were warmly welcomed, had no wait time and Ian had the BEST time ever. The man running the pony rides was very patient, let Ian choose the pony that he wanted and was very laid back. Ian is ready to go back. Highly recommended for fun for the youngsters.

We did a 2 hour ride and had a great time! The staff was really fun and the trails were beautiful! The only problem I had were there were a TON of mosquitoes. I had a sweater on when I came in and the staff said we had to either keep sweaters on the whole time or take them off now, but they didn’t warn us about mosquitoes. I decided to take my sweater off and, having a tank top on underneath, came back with about 15 mosquito bites. A warning and recommendation for repellent would’ve been nice! Besides that, it was great!

Booked the two hour ride and had a great time. Everything was well organized and there was no chaos, and the team there did a good job making sure everyone was comfortable and on the appropriate mount. I didn’t really see any «nags», and all the horses seemed to be in good shape. I had a great horse that was pretty lively. There’s nothing that the stables can do about it, but be prepared… wear mosquito repellant and a bandana to fight off the dust on the trail!

We scheduled a ride a week in advance of our vacation. We were tempted to go elsewhere due to some of the reviews but decided to book it based on the decent price and location (we were staying at the resort). The day of our ride I get a call that wakes me up at 7AM from the lady at the stable. She isn’t very clear but asks if we can move our ride to 1PM (we were scheduled for 9AM). She said something about someone being sick. It didn’t sound right. I said sure thinking our check-​out time was 12PM. Later after we wake up we realize check out time is 11AM. We check out at 11AM and are contemplating on waiting for our ride or not. As we are sitting in the car in front of the lobby we see a group coming back from a ride! She totally bumped us to take this group out. She could have asked if we wanted to join the group and we would have said yes — even if they wanted to go on a longer ride, etc. We ended up leaving and ticked off. Major bummer as this was the last big activity we were going to do before heading back to our hometown. I called and left a message letting her know we decided to head out and not go on the tour. A few hours later I get a call asking where we are. Long gone!

We were visiting friends that live in Bend over Memorial day weekend and thought it would be fun to go horseback riding while there. Being a city girl I was a bit nervous as I haven’t been on a horse in probably 25 years. When we called to make the reservation Debbie the owner assured me the guided ride was for all levels of riders. We had no problem getting a reservation for the same day and they asked us to show up bit early to fill out paper work and to get our riding tips.
The location of the stable is really nice and the mini pony riding area for the kids is adorable. Such a great idea, what kid doesn’t love a pony ride.
The guide got my boyfriend and I all set up on a horse along with the other people who were on our ride, then we were given plenty of tips by the guide on how to ride that eased my nervousness. What fun !!! We walked & trotted at times threw the woods and then along the river, the scenery was really beautiful and I really didn’t find it to be that dusty as the other reviewers did. We did the 1hr ride and after I wished we had chosen the 2 hour ride.
We would definitely go back. This is a great spot if you have kids and are looking for a fun activity … or like me a city girl looking for a little outdoors time!

First horseback riding experience. Our guide (Alexis) was very informative on how to ride and provided us with fun facts of the surrounding areas during our 2 hour ride! Looking forward to going again if we are in the area!

My boyfriend and I signed up for the 2 hour trail ride. The ride itself was really fun. We got to see lots of scenery without having to do any walking! I’m really inexperienced with horseback riding, and our guide was really great about giving me tips to make me feel more comfortable on the ride.
I’d recommend bringing bug spray and sunglasses because it gets dusty and I got bitten a few times. They offer handkerchiefs at the stable for the dust.
My only complaint is that we were told to show up at 8:30 to allow time to sign waivers for a 9 am ride. My boyfriend and I showed up at 8:30 along with 2 other couples and waited. Our guide didn’t greet us until 9:05. Once the ride got going it was a great experience, but I think we were at least 45 minutes behind.
If you’re going to book a ride here and they tell you to show up 30 minutes early, I’d question that. Our guide didn’t make any apologies or even acknowledge the fact that we’d all been standing there for 35 minutes when she showed up.
Once again, the ride was wonderful. But on a vacation, your time is valuable because you’re paying for every minute with your hard earned money. So we felt a bit burned by wasting all that time standing around to sign waivers which seriously took like 5 minutes when she finally gave them to us.

My boys love to go horseback riding, but it was a bit of a challenge arranging it during our visit to Bend. Most of the places we’ve gone to in the past (Crooked River Ranch and Eagle Crest Resort) were closed this summer, so we decided to make the drive to the Seventh Mountain Resort by Mt. Bachelor.
We had a terrible experience trying to make a reservation. So up to the actual trail ride, I would give them one or two stars for the administrative side of the business. Nonresponsive by phone, a bit disorganized in person and they overcharged us for the ride until we called the discrepancy to their attention.
Once we got on the horses, things improved from there, slightly. The ride is a bit dusty and not the best we’ve ever had, but again, there appear to be very few options in the area. Unfortunately on a trail ride your experience is very dependent on other riders and whether they are comfortable and able to control their horse. We had two other riders that almost fell off and unfortunately it really freaked out my son.
We’ve gone to Diane’s Riding Place, which I now consider the best in the area, but it is more instructional rather than a trail ride.
So at the end of day, a fun family activity, but hopefully others will have a better experience before mounting their steed. They also have adorable miniature ponies at Pony Town, so that would be a hit with little ones.
