Mt. Bachelor

One of my favorite ski resorts. Great runs, friendly staff and amazing snow.

The Mountain, and the terrain itself in all of its beauty is 5 star and above. As is most everything in Central Oregon.
I love the drive over from Eugene. Even though it can some times take a long time.
It is pretty cool that you can now utilize the Mountain all year round now ie: for mountain biking, during the summer months, and snow skiing, boarding, and sledding during the winter through spring months.
I am so glad that this year was a better year for snow. Years ago when we used to get blasted with snow my guy used to get season passes early in September when they went on sale before the price went up. Back then it was worth it to buy, and make the drive over to the Mountain. But the last few years were a little scarce with freshies.
It’s been a while since we have been here, we used to take the boys to ski, and snow board. Like I said over the last few years the snow wasn’t worth it for us to make the drive.
This year we decided to come and it was just as nice as ever. And it was nice that we were able to take our trailer to stay in the lot as well as quite a few others were too.
My little Pomeranian had to adjust to the cement, and snow. Lol snobby grass dog!
My one complaint would be is how much they have hiked up the prices, on everything! And I mean on everything! They nickel and dime you, and most of the staff seems like they have a stick up their… Well you know!!!
While I was waiting to meet my son, and my guy in the lodge for a drink the young bar tender girls can use some classes on personality for one, and two maybe not ignore the female patron standing there with the two male patrons you just took orders from! So yeah, I wanted a drink too you dumb broad! I wasn’t just a place mat! My guy had to finally speak up and order my drink. They were over priced…
I also ordered some soup while waiting for them, and it was nothing to write home about and it was cold. I remember back in the day the food wasn’t this bad, and I don’t remember the service or prices being so steep! So this is why I chose a 4 star! I really wanted to do a 1 – 2 based on the people, but I have always really liked it here, so it’s so hard to do for a place I have liked. So I hope that it was a fluke with some of those staff members. I really hope she was just having a bad day, and doesn’t treat others that way.

Wonderful family friendly ski area, great runs, fair price, ok food and friendly staff! We have loved this mountain for 28 years. We drive down from n of Seattle to ski here, first with our kids now with the grandkids!

The kids loved it. The manager John was wonderful. The slopes are great. We go every year. The customer service was great!

Customer service is memorable but not in a good way. Easier for me to spend my ski$ at Hood and have a great time. They need a tune up.

The sun bar at sunrise lodge is filthy dirty and smells disgusting. It’s never cleaned, has no music playing most of the time, and has lousy bartenders. The bar at the west village lodge is also dirty, overpriced (even for a ski area) and has lousy service. The lifts are always breaking down or not opening at all. I’ve lived in Bend and ridden Bachelor for more than 20 years. The last few years we travel to other mts because Powdr corp does such a terrible job running the place. After nearly 30 other resorts in the last 4 years, I can unequivocally say Mt Bachelor is the most poorly run, and filthiest resort on the west coast. It used to be really nice. Not anymore. Such a shame…

I’ve been to my fair share of mountains and never once have I had an outfit ruined because of grease from the lifts. It rained down on us every time the chair went through a guider. I spoke to a lady up front and she said, «it’s a drippy mountain. Everyone knows not wear anything nice here.» And with attitude. Bold statement for the same women selling me a $ 300 jacket.

This review is for tubing at Mt Bachelor. They sell too many tickets per session, it is too crowded and the waiting in line is horrendous. Shame on them, they should know better… it has happened more than once to us.

We rode the ski lift last summer. Because it was there to do!
Was quite chilly at the top, even in late July. Happy to have warm coats and scarves available. Beautiful views, and such silence and peace along the way and at the summit.
The mountain wasn’t as lush as I expected. The pine stands are pretty sparse. Also, the facilities at the top weren’t open. It was pretty much — pay for the ride, go to the top, hike up several floors to the observation deck at the highest level, take lots of pictures while being wind-​whipped, then climb back down to the chair lift level again. ;-)
That being said, the vistas were stunning. Almost like being on top of the world. One of those experiences it’s worth having once in a while.
My brother decided to brave potential interactions with all the mountain bike riders by taking the boys and hiking down the mountain. He’d researched this option ahead of time.
There are many mountain bikers who gear up and make the trip up, then down at breakneck speeds multiple times a day. They have certain paths to follow. Hikers have different paths, so they shouldn’t intersect.
We were ready to get back to the cabin and cook up comfort food for dinner after our mountain adventure.

Beautiful mountain! Lots of parking. Plenty to do if you are just gonna hang out while your friend or family are snowboarding. My BF went on 14 runs while on mountain. It’s $ 84 for a day pretty pricey so better get there early so you have a full day. Food expensive! Not very nutritious but it’s convenient.

First of all I went here twice and both terrible experiences.
12/​25/​2015 came up here and rented skis and boots at the sunrise area. I also purchased a lesson. They put me in the absolutely wrong boot. Size 33. My foot size is 13 and slightly wide in the toe area. The boots caused excruciating pain in the ankle to where after a two hour lesson I could barely walk. Putting people in the wrong size boot could cause serious injury, especially for someone who has never been skiing before.
A week later.
I went to a ski shop named Hillcrest in Gresham and they properly fitted me with the correct size boots. Properly sized with two fingers behind my heel without the liner is a 29.5. I also picked up some new skis.
1÷18÷2015 I called the customer service number around 2:30. I informed the guy I was in Bend. I asked about coming up to make at least one or two runs. By the time I arrived I checked in in the rental area and asked about the lift. Oh we close the lift at 3pm. Then why didn’t the person I called earlier not inform me rather than have me waste time driving up on icy roads.
I would give 0 stars if possible.
Tip 1: Avoid renting boots from this place if you have large feet.

This review is for skiing at Bachelor.
We make yearly, multiple trips to this place and it is all time. When the weather is on point, I really don’t believe that many resorts in the PNW will compare with their terrain. Their summit chairlift also opens up access to unbelievable terrain, with many vertical spines opening up with just short hikes (10 – 30 min).
Their parks are also excellent, offering terrain for all types of snowboarders and skiers.
Never been a fan of night skiing so I don’t miss it, but would be a point to note that they don’t offer it.

I’ve been to too many mountains for snowboarding in the past 8 years. From Vermont, Utah, Vail, Breckenridge, Aspen, Tahoe, Mammoth, Mt Hood and Whistler. Love them all! Then we learned about Mt Bachelor’s dry, light fluffies we had to come visit. This year is our third time on Bachelor. Here’s why it is worth the visit:
— An expert snowboarder or skier will appreciate the terrain. A mix of steeps, glades and bowls there is something for everyone.
— The powder quality is world class. On a great season there is lots of pow stash in the bowls, glades and the summit. Heaven!
— The people who run the show are professional, friendly and helpful. Ask them anything — the Ambassadors are ready to help answer your questions.
— Why 4 Stars? The mountain does not offer a lot of amenities for in between or after snowboarding/​skiing. The lodge areas are in need of an upgrade. Wish there were local brews and good food options on mountain. Oh and night riding would be fantastic!!! :)

You know that saying, it only take one bad apple to spoil the bunch? Thats Mt. Bachelor.
I went here to try out biking in Oregon after a week of working in the area.
2 stars, one each for Jeff and Jason.
Jeff from WV in the rental shop is typical mountain biker; laid back, non judgmental, knowledgeable and stoked on not only his job, but getting people to ride. Jeff should either replace the person who hired the mid mountain «manager» or at least be apart of the hiring process. Mt. Bachelor needs a ton more Jeffs. Actually, the world needs more Jeffs. If I had a mountain bike related company, I would gladly poach him to work for me.
Jason from Eugene OR with the bike school had a ton of knowledge and growing up here had first hand experience on the area. I enjoyed talking to him, riding with him and learning from him. Jason was laid back, not in a rush, non judgmental and went at your pace.
After my lesson with Jason, I wanted something to eat. This is when the trouble started.
First, I had to pay $ 10 to go to the mid mountain café so I can overpay for school lunch food. I expressed my concern that I was not going up there to ride, just to eat. The ticket cashier said that if I could go up there for free then everyone would. Excuse me? I just paid for a lift ticket, private lesson and a upgraded downhill bike rental. costing hundreds not including the hotel and car rental for the day. I hardly am freeloading here. Reluctantly, I paid the $ 10. You do not talk to customers that way.
The food is typical of a place with a captive audience, poor quality, high prices, poor service.
There were some hikers with out of control kids. I went to the manager and she said she cannot police peoples kids and that I should talk to them. If I have to do your job, then why are you here?
And yes, you can tell people to get their little monsters in line. This is private property. I worked at a ski resort where we kicked people out for being a snowboarder (Deer Valley). Other people have no right to ruin someones vacation. Its not a tall order to ask someone to not have their kids scream at the top of their lungs, run around and jump on furniture.
Having to listen to out of control kids screaming and running around took a lot of fun out of the trip. This supposed manager made things worse. Obviously, you do not tell paying customers to pound sand and do her job for her like this manager basically did. She should be fired and replaced with Jeff or someone with his vibe. I didn’t catch her name, but she is from TN.
I can see why most bikers were only spending 2 – 4 hours here. The terrain can get quite gnarly and tiring to ride. Plus, the food options (and their management) suck. I should of joined the bikers in the parking lot tailgating.
When I got there, the place was quite disorganized. The ticket counter, with only one ticket agent reminded me of the car rental counter at the airport, and why I now rent with National. People who had a plan (like myself) where punished by waiting on people who showed up off the cuff and didn’t have a clue. They struggled to find my reservation. I might as well not even book things ahead of time.
The terrain is really sandy from nearby volcano activity which surprised me. I would think with all the trees, the terrain would have more dirt.
The lifties were awesome and the lifts aren’t unsafe ghetto contraptions from the 60s like at Ski Bowl.
Surrounding area is beautiful.

Took the beginner bike clinic today at your Gravity Park! I’ve ridden for about 6 months on some of the trail around Central Oregon. «Nothing compares to the Gravity Park and Incredible Staff at Mt. Bachelor»

This review is for summertime Bachelor. I came to view some gorgeous scenery. We bought ski lift tickets and got on. We were able to take our stroller up with us since I had a little baby. I put him in a carrier and rode up with him attached to me. We walked around the top. We had lunch and it was pretty good, and not too bad a price. We got great photos with mountains behind us and ate outside in the beautiful weather. Staff were friendly. We had a great time. The only bad thing was we forgot sunscreen so my husband got burned. Won’t make that mistake again!

Been here twice already, once summer for MTB then winter/​spring for skiing, I have to agree with other Unilocalers this place is GREAT!!! Thanks to Subaru WinterFest where we won two tickets to ski.
Staff is friendly and plenty of first aid on hand. Lots of training coaches to shoe one the ropes on skiing. I noticed a lot of TLC (tender love-​n-​care) in these trainers.
My daughter wished we lived closer, unfortunately we don’t. :-(

The slopes are dope! Rainbow lift is the longest ride but totally worth it! The lifts are fast, maybe a little too fast… :)
Bend, Oregon is a hidden gem. Mt Bachelor is a broader and skier paradise. Variations in slopes will challenge and keep you happy. From bunnies to black diamonds and vicious Summit.
Have some conojes, a litter bit of insanity, and life insurance if you gonna challenge the Summit.
I don’t know how I came out alive but I saw life my flashed as I came down the Summit.
Mt Bachelor is a destination that will accomandate the singles and families easily. A lot amenities and activities to do. Snow tubing in threes are faster!
Overall a place to come back to and maybe live in Bend Oregon!

Raaaad time here the past couple days riding. Came down from Seattle via Mt Hood (Hood had shut down), but despite the longer trek, it was well worth it. We ended up spending a bit of dough in the retail shop as well bc the dude assisting us was so helpful (no sales tax either of course). Not only was the mountain beautiful, but it had ZERO lift lines, so you had it pretty much to yourself. Conditions were better than expected for the weather we’ve been having in the PNW as of late. We were taken well care of by our server, Deb, who gave us a lot of helpful info. I even asked an employee there who was holding the door for us why they are all so happy. He said he was stoked to work on the mountain. I said, «and it probably treats you right.» Indeed.
If you’re like me and can’t handle the masses upon masses of bumbling skiers, get to Bachelor.

Love Mt. Bachelor. And no, don’t participate in winter sports, but my son is a snowboarder so I spend a lot of time there. Very accessible, lots of parking, great lodge (s), easy, easy.
Twenty minutes from our house. Roads that are well maintained. No traffic. Staff always around to direct, answer questions, etc. great gift/​gear shop, not over priced.
My son loves the mountain. No complaints about lines, people, staff, and such.
Bar area for those looking for libations with great representation from local brewers.
Lift prices are what they are, but I think they are decent. I’ve heard complaints about the price if adult passes, but I think kid pass prices are just fine.
