DeWaard & Bode

Last year I bought a new stove from Dewaard & Bode. The stove recently started acting funny so wanted to call for service. I searched the internet for the phone number and Unilocal showed up 1^st. After reading some of the poor reviews, I was a little concerned about a possible service call… I called Dewaard & Bode to schedule the service. The staff was Very friendly, a service was scheduled the next day, parts were ordered and back a few days later. Service was out the next day. It could not have gone any smoother. Communication was great and so was the service. I like the selection at Dewaard & Bode and found the prices to be very competitive as well. When I need appliances next, I will be back.

I would highly, highly advise AGAINST Dewaard & Bode. I purchased new fridge from them in October. Installation left without confirming that the water nozzle works. I called within 20 minutes of them leaving to report this, after 4 back & forth calls (installation department vs repair department, neither wanted to take care of it, kept sending me to the other department), got an appointment for 9 days out. In the meantime, my husband got the water to work but with very light water pressure — it took about 90+ seconds to get 8 oz of water. A repairman came out on scheduled day, looked at it for less than 10 minutes and said that root problem is the water pressure itself, not a faulty part nor a faulty fridge. Wrote up a bill for $ 80 for the visit. I told him I wasn’t going to pay it because installation didn’t do it correctly to begin with. After this heated discussion, he wrote off the bill because I purchased the extended warranted. Had I not, I would have been stuck with it… Deward and Bode will nickle and dime you. For a «local» company, you would think that they would go above and beyond to take their of their customers but that’s obviously not the case.

I’ve spent thousands of dollars at DeWaard and Bode over the last year during a remodel. I regret my purchases and feel service would have been at least equal if not better at one of the box stores. Too much of a sleazy salesmen feel every time I had an inquiry or stepped into the store. Service and communication post purchase is non existent. I get caught up in the moment because my goal is to purchase appliances, but I will do so somewhere else in the future.

Our LG refrigerator needed a warranty repair. LG assigned the repair to Dewaard and Bode. They then called and stated that they would not do the repair because we had not purchased the appliance from them. They just ensured that we will will never buy anything from them in the future, too.

About five years ago we purchased a couch, love seat and chair from DeWaard & Bode. We looked at several different sets. Along with the salesperson we decided on a leather set of furniture. Three months ago it began to crack and peel. We called and they told us that we bought bonded leather. We specifically asked for leather but what we ended up getting is a very thin layer bonded to fabric. We called and they said that the warranty was good for a year but they would call the manufacturer. I have called back and they still haven’t gotten a response. A week has gone by and still no follow up call. When something goes wrong you learn what kind of company your dealing with. We have purchased many items from them, but this is the last. I’m highly disappointed on the way this was handled by Dewaard & Bode. Actually I should say they really didn’t handle it at all. Our family and friends are disappointed also in the way this was handled. We won’t be spending our money with a company that doesn’t help when their is a problem.

I have been a long-​time customer of DeWaard and Bode and have always been very happy with their professionalism and competitive prices. Not very often do I write reviews, but for some reason I was compelled to write one after my last shopping experience with them.
My husband and I went into look at purchasing new appliances for our kitchen and talked to a salesman named Nick. We purchased three new appliances and Nick was so patient in answering all our questions, and going the extra mile to make sure we understood all the new features on each new appliance. Because of our experience of doing business with Nick, I would recommend him to anyone who is planning on buying, or just looking at new appliances, to ask for Nick. He is very knowledgeable and will make you feel comfortable and won’t rush you out the door.

I also want to put in a good word for their service department. Whenever I have had a problem they send out someone as soon as possible and get the job done. I have only talked to the service department by phone but they have always been very friendly and concerned about getting my problem solved as fast as they can. This is a great store to do business with.

I went to the outlet store and had a wonderful experience. Kyle matched prices, found me rebates, stayed late on the weekend to help load my truck. I couldn’t have asked for better service. He was also very friendly, knowledgeable, and quick to return all my calls, texts, and emails. I would definitely recommend him and Dewaard and Bode to anyone looking for alliances. I’ll be back for sure!
A little more… I received the best service I could have hoped for from these guys. I came in with my dad, who bought a couple few appliances earlier in the month, and the experience was great. I needed 5 new alliances for our new home and Kyle worked with my on pricing to match what I found online at a box store. He explained the mail on rebates and even found me another one that he could add on. He really put out the effort to get me the best price to earn my business. Seriously, I don’t write many reviews but I had such a great experience I had to share.

I would not recommend this store or thier salesman Jason Bloomquist to anyone. Yesterday I intended to purchase a barbecue but our sales person became extremely rude when I declined to give him our phone number. When I asked to speak to the manager I was told he «wasn’t there.» No one made the slightest attempt to earn our business or even to make us feel welcomed to be in their store. I would highly recommend another retailer over Dewaard & Bode.

I’m not sure if what I experienced was pure laziness or complete incompetence. We called the company that makes our dishwasher to put in a warranty claim on Monday morning. We were told that we could expect to hear from D&B very shortly to set up a service appointment. After waiting all day, we still heard nothing. Tuesday morning we called D&B to make the appointment ourselves and were told that they never received the service request. So we called the other company back and were told that they could see that the request was sent. However the guy at that company emailed it again, faxed it, AND called D&B to make sure they got it. Again, we waited all day and never heard anything. We called twice, but no one was answering the phone so we left messages. Finally someone called back and said they still hadn’t received the request. Bull. It was sent through two different mediums AND they were called by the company requesting it as well as us. We called the dishwasher company back and told them to pick a different service provider. Now we have to wait a week with our dishwasher in the middle of our kitchen. If you’re not going to do your job, close your doors and walk away. Maybe that’s why there is never a single car in the parking lot?

Twice I called to have my appliances checked for repair. I was told my mini fridge would cost more to repair than to purchase a new one by the D&B service repair person. It’s seemed extreme considering the unit wasn’t that old. With a simple Google search, and a $ 14.00 part… it works good as new. I installed the new fan effortlessly.
I also had someone come out to check my side by side fridge that was not holding a temperature. Again, they told me it was going to be an extensive repair. Again, I googled my model of fridge and found out there was a recall on the motherboard. I was sent to motherboard for free and installed it myself. Problem fixed. When I told them about the recall, they said it was highly unlikely and that they hadn’t heard about it. (Really?)
I am upset that I called them the second time, and had to pay for their service fee to come out to the house twice… but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt because they are the big guys in town and reputable from what I have heard???
Unless you’re under warranty, call someone else for service or always get a second opinion. (And always google the issue first apparently)

Store manager «CG» basically told us want we wanted to hear to buy a product despite it not being what he told us. We were told we can’t return, and we now feel like we got swindled out of $ 2000 for a product we hate.
I will never buy anything from them again.

We’ve dealt with them a several times. Shopped there whenever we are looking for appliances.
Selection wise, they’re pretty much the biggest in the area.
But, there isn’t a great deal of competition in Whatcom county. It shows to some extent. As some other folks have noted, some of their sales staff are not that great. For service I feel a bit more confident of Lehmans, but haven’t had any bad times here.
Compared to other places (nationwide): They’re ok. Not the best I’ve dealt with but not the worst. Given that I think I can count all the «full service» appliance places in Bellingham with one hand: Check them out.
BTW: As per usual I checked the Unilocal filtered reviews, as usual, NO clue why any of them were filtered. The ratio was four 5-​stars and three 1-​stars. The 5s seemed about like the non-​filtered 5s. The 1s are service stories. I wonder if I shall be filtered?

Tonight me and my wife went out on a mission to find a new dishwasher. Our 1^st stop was DeWaard & Bode and we were met by a nice sales guy Ben. He kindly showed us all the dishwashers and provided us with good information. He let us know what the best deal they had but would match a better price on the same machine if we found it.
We shopped around and did our pricing. We opted to go back to the store to see if they would match the free delivery the other stores offered. Upon our return Ben had gone home and I was greeted by sales guy Nick. Nick apparently didn’t graduate from customer service school and didn’t feel out business was appreciated as when I discussed with him what Ben had told us the price was and that we would like to know if they would also provide free delivery he stated «I would rather sell this to another customer and make more». This comment struck me like a ton of bricks. Here I am trying to make a deal and buy from a local store when all of as sudden I get uncalled for comments.
I didn’t think my asking if they would also provide free delivery like their competitors was unreasonable and surely don’t think it warranted a comment like this. Since this caught me by surprise I thought it would be good for me to let Nick that his comment was unprofessional and uncalled for. I let him know a simple «No we can’t do that» would have been good enough but he pushed the limit on «I will sell it to someone else for more’. He then told me that he was a professional and has been with «Dewaard & Bode’s for 16 years» as I walked out of the store. He then let me know that telling him that he was providing me with poor customer service was being «rude and I was rude».
This has to be the worst customer service I have encountered in a long time. Not only will I never shop at this store again but I am going to make sure that all my friends and family don’t ever shop at this store again so that no one else we know will have an opportunity to be treated like this.
So if your dealing with Ben, don’t let Nick start talking unless you want to be insulted and belittled as a customer.

Just bought a new dishwasher. After shopping around — lots of floor models to look at, great customer service and knowledge, great sale. Already picks up and installed. Highly happy.

After looking for a washer & dryer set in all the other stores in town (Best Buy, Sears, Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc.) we found by far the best service, prices, and selection here. We had in mind some brands we were looking at specifically and got great input from the salesman without being pushy. After a terrible experience at Best Buy it was so nice to walk in and buy a set within ½ hour. We have bought 2 other appliances at Deward & Bode in the past few years and have always been happy with the service.

Good prices and friendly service. The salesman was very knowledgeable about the product.
I would recommend this place to anyone.

Ok so I have to admit this is where my home appliances were purchased. I have received awesome customer service and pricing in sales and refer all my clients to Ralph whenever they ask. The service dept. is helpful and whenever I have a question in regards to my appliances this is where I turn when I can’t figure it out for myself.
Just had a service tech help me with my dishwasher, I was curious how these things work so I hung around to see how he could figure out what was going on. I learned quite a bit, and look forward to a running dishwasher.

Really good place. I bought a stove, fridge, and washer/​dryer here. The prices were the best I could find, the staff was helpful without pressuring me, and the installation was fast and very competently done. I really have no complaints at all. Great place.
