Marianne Jacobson – Pediatric Sleep Consulting

My husband and I consulted with Marianne about our newborns sleep. Talking to Marianne, we got a sense for the different possible reasons for the sleep problem, how to figure out which one it is, and some preliminary measures for how to deal with each possibility. Marianne was incredibly knowledgeable. After an array of experts we consulted, her advice has been the most effective. We already had better sleep after one conversation and we are mapped out to get even better sleep. If you are having sleep problems, don’t delay in seeking help from Marianne and just think «it’s normal». Likely, there is an upgrade in your sleep that Marianne can help you find.

As a new mother, Marianne is invaluable. She bring a sense of security and confidence to situations and gives you the courage to deal with any situation. Our baby has not been a wonderful sleeper and Marianne has saved us more than once. Not only that, but she is available for a quick chat or text when you just need that extra support. If it was not for her, I am not sure I would be functioning at this point. I would say Marianne is magic, but it is more that she is supportive and helps you through the hard times, encourages you to do the work needed, and you definitely see results. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

As a single parent of twins, I found myself with zero sleep and having to work my full time job. I asked several friends about sleep and heard a lot of «they’ll grow out of it» and «that’s totally normal for your daughter to nurse every hour». I just couldn’t believe this so I asked several twin moms and they immediately sent me Marianne’s information. Just a few weeks after meeting Marianne in person, I now get a solid 8 hours of sleep at night and the babies get 11+ hours of sleep a day. Their eating has also started to normalize (because they no longer get all their calories at night). And I have much happier babies overall that now have the ability to self soothe and put themselves to sleep without rocking, nursing, bouncing, or any other shenanigans. How exactly can you put a price on this? This was the best money I could ever spend on my babies! Marianne’s been an incredible support and has guided me every step. Priceless!

We used Marianne for in-​home/​overnight sleep coaching services. Prior to Marianne’s work, our 10-​month-​old was a horrible sleeper. We were exhausted! Our son had grown accustomed to sleeping in our bed (something we’d sworn we’d never do), could fall asleep only while nursing, would wake up 5−6x each night, and wanted to start his days at 4:30am. We needed help! We’d planned to do only 3 nights with Marianne, but we were so encouraged by the results that we extended it to 6 nights. We are now 1.5 weeks into sleep training using Marianne’s techniques. Our son now puts himself to sleep easily in his own crib, and sleeps 11 – 12 hours without waking up! We cannot believe the transformation in so little time. Marianne is a true gem. We initially felt uncomfortable with the idea of bringing in a stranger to help our baby at night, but we immediately felt comfortable upon meeting Marianne. She was patient with us and is still completely invested in our success. She’ll text during the day to see how things are going, even after coaching has ended. As an added bonus, every morning when we woke up, we’d find our dishes cleaned and laundry folded! (Even when we told Marianne she didn’t need to do that — she just loves to help families). If you are on the fence, I cannot recommend Marianne highly enough.

As a guy that was ecstatic to be a first time father; and went through all the birthing classes, watched all the video’s and read all the articles — EVERYTHING WENT COMPLETELY OUT THE WINDOW THE MINUTE MY WIFE WENT INTO LABOR.
If it wasn’t for Marianne, I’m not sure how I would have got through this in a way that was good for my wife and our beautiful son. Especially since my wife chose a natural birth. Marianne helped direct me in the things I needed to do before we even left the house that morning, because I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. During the day she coached both me and my wife, provided emotional support for her, made sure we both were nourished and gave expert guidance in all things labor and baby related.
In addition to everything she did, we found out later that Marianne had just come from another birth the day before and was operating on very little sleep — you would have never known that though.
From the moment I/​we met Marianne we liked her instantly. She is knowledgeable, easy going and professional. She guided us through the process of what she would do and what we could expect. There were no questions left unanswered and she made herself readily available when we did have them.
Guys, do yourself a favor and engage Marianne to help you and your wife through this process. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

We used Marianne for our birth doula and would absolutely recommend her.
She was very professional and responded promptly to questions throughout the process. She is also resourceful and knowledgeable, providing information resources and sharing pros/​cons on birth decisions without being pushy about going in one direction or another.
I am very deliberate and put a lot of thought into making decisions. I interviewed multiple doulas, and I chose Marianne ultimately because I felt comfortable with her and trusted her. You truly have to comfortable with someone to bear it all and share one of the most personal and important experiences of your life! She promptly came to my house around 6:00 AM when I felt I needed her help with contractions. When she arrived, she was very supportive and encouraging during the labor process and was helpful to provide suggestions on different positions to ease the pain and help progress labor. She also helped to keep me focused and in a rhythm during labor.
You can tell being a doula is not just a job for Marianne and she truly cares about her clients and their babies which is priceless! I hope to have her by my side again when we have our second child!

Marianne is incredible, and possibly an angel! As a young first time mom with a 10 week old that wouldn’t nap and spent hours a day sleep deprived and hysterically crying, I had been told by a pediatrician and several nurses that his behavior was normal, something he’d grow out of, caused by my stress, and more unhelpful advice. Thankfully I trusted my instinct that something was not right, and from just a brief email description Marianne was able to offer a myriad of possible solutions over the phone, and she followed up several days later in my home. She described how to spot my very active baby’s sleep cues, and even weighed him before and after a feeding so we had an idea about how much food he was eating (the root of the problem!). She clearly has vast knowledge and experience with baby sleep, hearing her explain possible issues and causes was a breath of fresh air, it felt like someone finally understood me and my baby!
It has now been a week after my initial phone call with Marianne, and, while it will be a few weeks of working through his feeding issues, it is like my husband and I have a new baby– his waking hours are spent happy and content and we are seeing many more of the smiles and giggles we could have desperately used during those trying earlier weeks. I can’t recommend Marianne’s services enough, she has given my baby back his sleep, and me back my sanity and confidence in myself as a mother.

Marianne helped us implement the Sleep Lady Shuffle sleep training method for our 7-​month old daughter. Our baby’s sleep had gone off the deep end, and we needed more support than just going to the Sleep Lady book for answers. And good thing we worked with Marianne, because we had so many questions that the book couldn’t cover sufficiently. And we needed a human to help us!
To get started, Marianne came to our house one evening after bed time, and spent two hours asking us questions and developing a sleep training plan. She then provided near on-​demand support for two solid weeks. She helped us get back on track when we weren’t consistent, and that was critical to helping our daughter build the sleep skills she desperately needed. Our baby was sleeping just 10 or 11 hours a day, and she now reliably sleeps 13, and sometimes even 14 — appropriate for being 8+ months old!
I stay at home with our daughter, and was in serious need of the moral support Marianne provided. We nap and night-​time trained simultaneously, so the stress level was super high around the clock for me as the stay at home parent. She is direct, yet kind and empathetic, not to mention knowledgeable. Like another reviewer said, Marianne changed our lives! We of course did the hard work, but her availability to answer questions and guide me in super difficult moments was critical to our success. She even came to the house and spent over 4 hours with me on one particularly awful, high-​stress day.
Marianne’s help is so worth the fee — a fee that is substantially less than other notable sleep consultants in the Seattle area.
Marianne is also simply a fabulous woman. and I am grateful to know her. Hire her if your kid’s sleep is driving you nuts!

Marianne is amazing! She helped us with nighttime feelings for the few couple months when our twins were born. It was so nice to have someone so knowledgeable about nursing and sleep training, from the beginning we were put on the right track for sleep training our babies. With her help our babies slept from 7am-​7pm from 6months on, they are two yrs old now and still sleep that same schedule.
I would definitely recommend Marianne for when you need support in having a new baby to bring home and definitely with twins. :) And for sleep training too!

Marianne is amazing! I have a 3 year old and a 6 mo old, and because of her help, we’re blissfully sleeping thru the night.
I was initially referred to Marianne by a friend when my first son was 9 months old and we were having a terrible time with sleep. She gave great tips and told me adamantly not to try the changes but to implement them. (Somehow I have a yoda-​esque vision of her saying «try not, only do»).
When she got wind our second was born, she checked in to ask how things were going. She gave me great ways to get off on the right foot.
Marianne really loves what she does, generously gives her time, is straightforward and very knowledgeable. She loves to see families succeed with sleep. Don’t hesitate to call her ASAP.

I have a baby who wouldn’t nap normally no matter what I tried. He clearly needed a «formula» for daytime sleep, and I didn’t have it. I tried various things, read everything I could find, researched online, and wept. Finally I blogged about it, and a friend suggested I contact Marianne (a sleep doula) at Pediatric Sleep Consulting. I did, and Marianne chatted with me for about ten minutes, never asking for a credit card number or insurance information. She gave me some advice and told me to call back if it didn’t work.
It has been one week. My child now takes two 1.5 hour naps a day, every day, with no screaming or crying.
