Playing pre-​teen pseudo-​pop CONSTANTLY AND on 9 of the 12 big screens will make you want leave as soon as you realize the HUGE mistake you’ve made trapped in a pre paid nightmare of mindless commercial crap sugar pop cancer over and over and over. I’d rather eat a pound of chocolate, vomit in my mouth and swallow it over and over and over than experience this brewkowski hell again…

Good place overall, lots of staff on hand who were all on top of things. Pricing was moderate. Lots of kids around and very family friendly.

They say on their website open bowl on Thursday nights from 9am-​Midnight, what they fail to tell you is they have a league going, and only 4 lanes are open to open bowling. Over an hour wait. They should note on their website «limited lanes during this time». Wasted time meeting wife and kid for some family fun. Headed to another bowling ally.
Other then that, nice place. Just make sure you call and ask before trusting their website.

First let me start by saying I don’t work for sunset so my review is completely honest. We’ve bowled every house in the greater Portland area and we give Sunset the ultimate thumbs up! It always starts with the ownership, then management followed by how great the overall experience is. Owners Jon and Tom work endlessly to ensure this by being present and providing all hands on deck no matter the need. They lead by example and it isn’t unusual to see them working along side their team in all daily operations. The management they have put in place are also equally amazing. Phil the GM goes out of his way to make customers feel appreciated. Phil never hesitates to get you what you need and takes every suggestion to the next level by trying to make it happen. Now, lets not forget Kirsten the most amazing food and bar manager ever! She’s the reason why we really made sunset our go to place. She wants to satisfy customers needs by bringing in favorite liquors and food items, not to mention her smile and personality is contagious. Last but not least the service is fantastic, they have leagues that fit anyone’s desires, the food is top notch, the lottery machines actually pay out and they have cash bowling tournaments and Monte Carlo with large prize payouts! Kudos to the entire sunset staff with notable mention to both Ian’s, Mike, Derrick, Amy, Nicole, Sarah, Jesse and Chris G — you all make the experience so great! Thanks for hours of fun entertainment and for loving your customers!

My Aloha High class of 75 met at Sunset Lanes for our 40^th reunion and everything was truly fantastic. The staff was so friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, the prices were extremely fair, and we had a great time. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Thank you so much to everyone at Sunset Lanes for helping make our event fun! (And for making me look like a genius for planning!)

We enjoy this place far better than some of the others in the area. Clean, and polite staff. They can be helpful if you want the video screens above the lane your in turned off. The guy we mostly get is anyway. This is very important if your with kids and you want them to focus in with the family instead of gazing up at some flashing adverts or sports.

These lanes are the best I’ve seen in the Portland area. The food and drinks are great. The bowling leagues and tournaments have something for every bowler. The staff are amazing and as a business they truly give back to the community, last year they donated to operation purple star supporting local children of Oregon veterans be sponsored to attend summer camp with peers experiencing the same struggles faced when a parent is deployed or recently returned. Saturday night monte carlo bowling is a must as well.

I went here for my birthday and although they were very accommodating, they were extremely busy with a reservation. Once seated to our lanes they were really helpful and the bowling was a blast. The kids could use bumper lanes just on their turn, which was awesome! we all had a blast!

I took my daughter there to celebrate a low key 5^th birthday. I got 3 hours of bowling, and about 30−45min of gaming with the kids for about $ 100.00 The place was clean, kept up, the lanes were nice, the people were nice and the server (I can’t remember her name but she was pregnant) was extremely helpful and awesome.
I will absolutely take my kids there for fun again. Or, just possibly on a date with friends.

I grew up in the area so I have been here more then a few times over the years.
Fave is cosmic bowling! Sence I was a kid just seemed like a cool idea w the lights and music.
Once I came and didn’t have socks and they let me play in my sneakers, so that was cool of them!
Now i’m older I get drinks here and all the ones i’v tryed i’v liked! I’m not a beer drinker here but the two times i’v got pitchers here they were good.
I’v never had food here so I can’t comment on that.
I’v never had any problems with the lanes here. Like a few others commented, thoe.
I keep coming back because I find the location conveniant and i’m comfy with the nabourhood… Oh and the drinks!

I wish to congratulate Tom and Jon for being named Proprietors of the year by Bowling Center’s Magazine. Both are very deserving and qualified and long over due for the award, plus many more. May you both be blessed with good health and super bowling for many years to come.

This place could easily earn more stars, but today it just didn’t. There were a total of 3 adults who went here for open bowling on a Thursday afternoon. Naturally it was pretty vacant. I believe they have 36 lanes. At first they put us on our own lane with no one next to us. It was great. There were nice comfy «couch» type benches to sit on next to the lanes, my sister kept commenting that «this is the nicest bowling alley I’ve ever been to!». And that half is very nice, but they only have a few lanes with these benches, and then the rest are hard tables and chairs. So we had some 25oz beers in hand, hanging out having a good time halfway through our first game at this bowling alley (that had a ton of open lanes) BOOM here comes a man with 4 young children under 10 and where do they put him, right smack dab in our space!!! There was a complete empty pair of lanes to our left, but they put him right next to the beer drinking adults. The kids were rowdy, loud, and annoying. They got their balls stuck in the gutter so we had to all stop bowling so the people could come and get it. I quietly asked the lady if we could not be by children, and she moved us to the open space to the left that they should’ve been in the first place Okay no biggie we had to move, now we are free to be normal adults again… we start bowling… and before we could even finish our first game we just transferred, BOOM another family comes over dragging a highchair for their BABY and 3 more little children! Are you freaking kidding me??? SOOOO annoyed! Now if there hadn’t been 25 other open lanes, I’d get it, but this was just ridiculous. So we finished this game and I went to talk to the lady about it again, I explained why we were there in the first place and we didn’t want to be next to children. She moved us to the complete opposite side of the alley, where the tables had hard uncomfortable chairs, and it was no longer nice and cozy. She was really sweet and gave us all a free game for the trouble of having to bowl on 3 different lanes. We finished our games and beers between 2 serious bowlers, one which was taking notes on his foot and ball placement each throw. There are some cool arcade games, even for adults, the beer is a little spendy at like 7.75 a mug, More so the overall bowling was a little expensive 3.95/game per person plus 3.50 for shoe rental during a boring open bowling Thursday afternoon. The other dislike is that their shoes don’t slide and I felt like I was going to twist my knee multiple times. The atmosphere of the bar is nice, and they had some festive Halloween decorations up. The lanes with the nice benches are great. I’d come here again, but I’d make it clear at the beginning I didn’t want to be next to children. And they should really put the cozy benches on all the lanes :)

This place is awesome !!! They have huge flat screens that play the games that are on. They also play great music. They have awesome lighting. The service was great. After you get assigned a lane, a waitress comes over and takes your order. They serve alcohol. We got a pitcher of beer and a hummus plate. Everything from the beer to the food to the service was great. The atmosphere is great for all ages. They have wifi available for free. I am blown away at how awesome this place was. Definitely going back. Also this place wasn’t packed. And the pricing is average.

Most of this review is going to be focused on their pro shop, and Scott in particular. I did bowl 3 games there earlier this week with a friend and thought their lanes and service staff were outstanding, even their lane balls were possibly the best of any bowling alley I’ve ever been to (which is A LOT). My only complaint about the alley in general is the price of bottled water. I think it’s a bit outrageous. Maybe not theme park/​sporting event kind of expensive, but not too far off from it. And really, pretty minor complaint as I believe they have free water fountains on-​site.
I’d been out of bowling for over a decade until a neighbor recently convinced me to join his league/​team, so I went in search of a pro shop to find some gear. The Sunset Lanes pro shop came up as the closest to home for me, so my roommate and I swung by to check it out while we were out running errands. It’s small/​cozy/​whatever, but they use their space well and have plenty of options of equipment on-​hand.
Scott went above-​and-​beyond to help me out every step of the way. He watched me bowl a few frames, worked with me on some bad habits I’d picked up since the last time I’d seriously bowled, and we talked about my options. In the end he got me set up with a ball that I’m extremely happy with, shoes, bag, and a couple small items within my small budget. He knew I didn’t have $ 500+ to work with, and I never once got the impression that he resented that constraint in any way.
The job he did fitting the ball was fantastic. This is the ~10^th ball I’ve had drilled for me in my lifetime and easily the closest to perfection on the first try. We adjusted one of the insert sizes just slightly after I bowled 3 games — I think it took all of 30 seconds. I can definitely live with that.

My friend got a deal from Amazon Local I believe so we decided to check this out. He had reserved a lane and we got there too early. Luckily there was an arcade area with tickets and prizes. We bowled and requested a few songs. They didn’t play any of the songs my friend requested so after about an hour I requested a song and they played it right away!!! They was a contest to win a pizza just by sending in a text and we won!!! Tried a cocktail here and it was pretty good. The service is a little so-​so, but everyone seemed to be friendly.

Love this bowling alley. I’ve never been to a bowling alley where you can request music videos play on the big screens. Pretty cool. Their pizza was good too. The lighting could be a little more dim during cosmic bowling but nothing major.

This place is awesome in that it’s still the old school bowling alley you grew up with and love, but it’s put a modern, way cleaner, cooler twist on it. There are huge projector TV screens that place everything from sports to music videos (depending on what’s cool at the moment), and the latest technology in the bowling world too with cool scoring software and new feeling seats and lanes that don’t make you feel like you have to shower when you get home (you know what I’m talking about). The quartermania evenings are the best if you plan to play a few games, a reasonable cover and then cheap games as long as you can handle playing.
I also have to give them huge accolades in the event space too– I’ve done several large scale events with them, and their event manager, Phil, and staff are INCREDIBLE. Like, knock your socks off. Anything I forgot, or could’ve anticipated needing (extra food, game cards, drink tickets, etc) they had already done by the time I thought to ask them. Also, they’re just generally nice people, and still understand the lost art of customer service. High five, guys! Love it.

This bowling alley is the quintessential burbs bowling alley. The food is meh and overpriced, smells like the faint stench of smoke and the staff is unorganized. I participated in a charity event there where they screwed up all the lanes and people names and generally made a mess of it. Won’t be going back.

I came here with a groupon for free shoe rental and 90 minutes of free bowling for 5 people. We ended up getting in about 3 ½ games and all had a blast! We got two pitchers of beer (yumm) and some fries to munch on. This was some great entertainment for a Sunday afternoon.
