Meridian At Murrayhill

Prior to moving in, I Unilocaled and reviewed a lot of apartment complexes in the Murray hill area. I’m big on reviews but understand that a lot of apartment complexes that are on the cheaper scale get more bad reviews. I saw that meridian did not have the best reviews but when I went to look at it, the great location, big clubhouse and nice view drew me in.
Unfortunately with great potential like the meridian has, the management really sucks. We had the most trouble in the moving out process. First of all, they made us pay $ 600 in just blinds and cleaning. If you know us, we are very clean people and keep everything in pristine condition. And blinds… seriously? It’s not like we eat off our blinds!!! I have never had to pay more than my security deposit. The final charges didn’t even add up with our contract. When we asked the manager she said she couldn’t do anything for us.
It is now almost March and we moved out in September. They just called us last week saying we owed them the money for cleaning even though we already have proof we paid it over 3 months ago. It’s seriously Neverending with them! I wish I had listened to those Unilocal reviews before deciding to move in there.

Nice place and the neighbors are quiet, but you get a lot of road noise from cars and trucks revving up their engines while climbing the hill. The office staff used to be pretty friendly but it looks like they have had a change in staffing recently, and not for the better. The biggest downfall is that it is the most expensive apartment complex in Beaverton, and they will raise the rent on you by 8.5% a year (at least they did with me for the last 2 out of the 3 years I lived here). And when I mentioned that as the reason for me leaving, the lady at the office literally scoffed at me. So if you don’t mind paying extremely high and ever increasing prices, this place should do just fine for you.

Staff– no one know what’s going on, the team is not in sync at the office. maintenance is great! Jason is awesome, so is his maintenance staff! But if he leaves, this place would be a disaster like it was b4 he arrived.
Apartment:
1. «appears» nice, that’s how they lure you in.
2. Paper thin walls, I can hear my neighbors talk, walk, urinate, opening and closing their cabinets, closets, etc
3. Poor construction, walls reconstructed as they were previously beat up with a baseball bat, some outlets don’t work, no outlet in the balcony area, heater makes noises, it shuts off when it wants to not when it actually reaches the set temperature.
4.doors, not insulated properly, in winter, the cold air creeps in through the cracks, my bill reached up to $ 190, I am the only one that lives here, and hardly home. Rip off!
5. They raised my rent about $ 100 more for the renewal, ridiculous!
6. The management changed, the assistant manager, Andy, moved to another apartment complex, he was nice and provided the best service. The vibe is off now, the remaining staff is not nice, or event decent. For a current resident, It’s good to see nice, smiling staff, that welcomes you, but no, it’s absent here…
7. Windows are new, so that’s the only nice thing about this apartment.
8. Mold, I showed it to the management when I moved in, she said, it’s just paint. bTW it’s mold. She just did not care.
9. No bolt locks on the entrance door, how safe!
10. The kitchen fan recycles the air back in your face! No air outlet besides a window.
11. sterling Point apartment = Meridian at Murray hill, there you pay less for same thing, here you pay more, your choice.
12. Solicitors! Don’t be surprised if some stranger knocks on your door.
13. Doors are a cardboard besides the entrance door
14. No basic cable! Not even local abc, cbs etc…

My wife and I were very pleased and happy with our apartment when we first moved in. The last month of our lease, we notified the management that our dryer was not operating. It’s now July 26^th, we move out in two days and it is still not fixed. My wife had talked to management several times about it and we were promised several times it would be fixed on a certain date. Needless to say that never happened. Either no one showed up or they said they needed to order a part. We were then told we could use the dryer in a vacant apartment… Really? How about they take that dryer out and put it in a rented apartment?! I finally spoke with Andy today, (who corrected me when I told we had been waiting a month to get this fixed, «actually, it hasn’t been quite a month.»). He informed me the best he could do was get it fixed on the 29^th…
Do not rent from them. Do not waste money on them. Don’t bother unless you want countless headaches dealing with incompetent management.
Also, the rent goes up CONSIDERABLY at the end of the six month lease.

I never had any issues with this place until I moved out. Sure, the interiors are a little outdated, but most apartments are. The cost is extremely high but most of the apartments in this area are generally very expensive.
My problems didn’t arise until I moved out… I put down a $ 1350 deposit when I moved in originally. Upon my move out date I cleaned the placed so well that it looked brand new. I didn’t leave one spec of dirt anywhere in the entire place.
When they sent me my refund for my deposit they only sent me $ 457 and kept over $ 800 to ‘replace the carpets’. They said it was due to ‘pet damage’.
The funny thing is that my girlfriend (who was not living there, only staying there on some nights) was bringing her dog with her once in a while (he was over a year old and fully potty trained). They found out there was a dog there and even though I tried to explain to them that he was only there some nights when my girlfriend was there they insisted I pay a $ 250 pet deposit even though I was moving out in 2 months.
So, I paid the deposit obviously.
When I moved out the carpets were about 95% clean. There were three tiny areas where the dog had puked that we cleaned very well but there was a VERY light stain left behind. I talked to numerous carpet cleaning companies and they said this stain would EASILY come out if the carpets were cleaned.
Sure enough, instead of cleaning the carpets they ripped them out and charged me over $ 800 from my deposit to install new carpet. When I had done my final walkthrough with the manager of the place she told me that the carpets looked great and would likely only require a cleaning.
So, the point I’m trying to make here is that while this is a good place to live, DO NOT expect to get much (if any) of your deposit back when you move out. I’ve talked to many other people who used to live here and they mentioned that they were also charged for new carpet but when they went back to demand receipts for the ‘new carpet’ it turns out they hadn’t even replaced the carpet at all, they just charged them for it and then kept the money for themselves.
There’s something very shady going on here, I promise you that. I am a legitimate business owner and a very successful person in general. I have no reason to sit here and bash these people online. The truth is they did me wrong and I have numerous people who can testify on my behalf that those carpets when we left were in great condition.
I would steer clear of this place if I were you, I really would!
THIS PLACE IS NOT PET FRIENDLY!

Pros :
— The apartments ARE really nice.
— When you call for maintenance they always have it done quickly.
— The staff is pleasant.
— Gym is 24hrs and every time I go I am usually alone.
Cons :
— One of the most expensive apartments in area.
— Parking in some areas is pretty hard to find.
— In about a year, I swear they’ve given 24hr notice of entry at least 5x… And I really feel uncomfortable with this (although I realize some people may not mind).
— They are doing construction right now, which is great that they are improving the outside of buildings, but it’s 6 weeks of banging on your walls, windows being removed and put in, my heat went out for 2 weeks, trucks holding up the road, LOOOUDness, and zero discounts for the inconvenience. Oh, and they took the numbers off the buildings so I’ve had 4 packages get returned to sender and I’ve gotten 3 packages that weren’t mine.
— Office hours, although they are probably similar to most places, I wish they were open more because they never seem to be open when I’m available.
