Dave knows his stuff. He explains every charge, and is honest. He commonly recommends us to either wait on, or not to get unnecessary things done, even though he could make plenty of money off us.
He has a great crew and shop.
We’ve been taking our German cars there for over a decade.

Outstanding Service. David and his team have serviced my Passat for the past 10 years. Never a complaint. The repair work is explained, confirmed, and the job is completed with precision – since I have never made a return trip for the same repair. I found D&M Automotive after a series of questionable and amateurish service events with a local VW dealership. I have found Dave to be very upfront and honest with the diagnoses and recommended repairs. I have 195K original miles on this car, and still counting, and I owe that longevity to the care and maintenance suggestions from Dave and his team.

Dave and the guys are outstanding workers, honest, and just good people. I’ve going there for years and will never take a car anywhere else. It’s like he has a magic screwdriver.

I’ve gone to Dave for the past 5 ish years. He’s great. Honest, affordable, and knowlodgeable. I would recommend D & M to anyone. Sometimes women need to be careful about which shop they use. People can take advantage of you. I never had to worry. Dave has a good reputation for doing what’s right.

I believe this shop specializes in German cars. After a recent 80K service they did on my car, I recommend them highly. Prompt. Courteous. Thorough. Knowledgeable. Reasonable prices. Up front and honest. Gave us advice and information he didn’t have to about my GTI which as known to have engine troubles within 20K miles of my car’s current mileage. Above and beyond the call of duty.

4 ½ stars would be most appropriate.
Why not 5? Because Dave’s head would get even bigger. The man is truly knowledgable when it comes to the inner workings of VWs and does impeccable work. I have just found communication a little awkward at times.
So, take your Bug, Ghia or Van there, talk to Dave, but keep in mind that you need to drive the conversation.

It has been a very long time since I have used D & M, since I haven’t owned a German car in a long while. I used to go to them for all of my car related things back in my high school days. 17 years later, they are still just as impressive as they were back then. One of the few places I trust to give an honest estimate every time. My step son now drives a VW and he was here visiting and had some issues. I said to go have them check it, since I had nothing but good things to say about them back then.
Same guy still owns it (Dave) and he is still just as trustworthy as he was years ago. I am so glad this business is still around and doing so well.

Had an oil leak and Dave took a look — free diagnosis, said it was the main seal on the Vanagon. While picking up my Vanagon, i mentioned something in passing about troubleshooting the headlight switch and he pulled the instrument cluster, jumpered some points and confirmed, «yep, it’s the switch that is bad». No charge for the diagnosis of the main seal and no charge to take a few minutes to help with my headlight switch. Very personable service when i wasn’t even a customer yet!
Steering started going out and i knew it was something with the rack. Took it in and Dave gave me an estimate and said, «you can go the cheapo junk parts route, but you’ll be back in. We warranty the good stuff, and that’s what always recommend». He said he’d take a look at the tie rods as well and let me know if they needed fixing. He called me partway thru the day and told me that some part of the tie rodes (outer ones?) were perfect condition, original German stuff and I should keep them… nice! Once the work was done, it cost less than his estimate and the bus steers like butter! I scheduled this appointment on Friday for a Tuesday and he had it back to me in about 5 hours.
When I picked up the bus, i mentioned again that the starter may be going out. He gave me a couple tips on the 2 types of starters that I could encounter. He explained in great detail how one would make the job more difficult, but he was betting I had the easy one. When I mentioned the starter seemed pretty easy to pull he said, «it really is a job you can do yourself, save yourself an hour of labor and pull it, if it doesn’t need the bushing, you have the easy one.».
I cannot recommend him highly enough. Always takes the time during his busy day to give a few tips, kept me well informed, was fair on pricing, and the service was fast. He also works with other local guys that run small shops for specialty work he doesn’t do — nice that he is able to connect us to others in the car community!

I don’t think I would trust another car repair place more than D & M. We’ve gone there for years and have always been happy with their service. The assessment and price of services seems to be fair and they 100% stand behind their work.

Dave at D&M Automotive has been taking good care of my 2002 Passat for the last three years. He came to me HIGHLY recommended by other teachers, and he has over and over proven he was worthy of their recommendations.
One of the things I truly appreciate about Dave’s service is the total lack of BS. If I need something done, he tells me, explains why, then gives me an accurate estimate. If it doesn’t need to be done right away, he’s honest about that, too. I’ve been on the verge of needing a clutch for about 13 months. I took my car in, he drove it and told me I am still OK. Most places would have just replaced the clutch and took my money!
He’s very busy, so an appointment is needed for routine maintenance However, the times when my «it’s going to cost a lot of money» engine light has come on, he’s always been able to fit me in.
