Midas

Once again this shop has done an amazing job! They are so trustworthy and easy to work with! They explain all work in an understanding manner and I wouldn’t trust anyone else! My brakes turned out better than expected for a lot less and they even did a vehicle inspection at no extra charge and topped off needs fluids at no charge! They do only things that need to be done instead of just «trying to get you to do things!» JOHN and Leon were awesome to work with! Thank you again guys for everything!
(I have a Chevy Tahoe LTZ and they are VERY knowledgable about this car!)

I’ve been taking my Civic to this Midas location for years. I appreciate that they give me information about what’s urgent to fix, and what can wait until later. The mechanical service has always been 100% right the first time. I trust these guys and I appreciate the courtesy they always offer, too.

Lonnie at the front desk was helpful. As I have an older car, it can be difficult to find quality service and parts. The staff took the time order what I needed at a reasonable price. I plan on returning for more work once this project is in order.
Waiting room was nice!

John, the man at front, was phenomenal. He was more than helpful explaining everything to me and recommending what to do to keep my car in the best condition.
However, I was disappointed at the service. I paid $ 66 for an oil change and at most places that would entail an exterior car wash and/​or carpets being vacuumed. Also they only topped off my window washer fluid when normally all liquids should be topped off. Other than John, the place is just ok

Good with oil change. Like Heidi, the other reviewer, get a second opinion! they tried to get me to buy tires, telling me it was critical that I get them replaced. Two other mechanics and tire places told me they were fine.

Terriable service! I go in to get a inspection for my vehice. They don’t tell me they charge 19.99 for it. They jack my vehicle up and then tried to keep it. They told me that they would give me my 19.99 back if I did service with them. Crazy!

I was very disappointed with the service.
I own a 2012 vehicle and was told that I need new tires and they stop the inspection. The only thing I was thankful for was that they didn’t charge me, they only tried to rip me off for $ 280 worth of new tires. I decided to take my car next door and the vehicle passed with flying colors. Get a second opinion on any estimates this place gives you, I wouldn’t trust them.

Excellent service, John is so nice and accommodating. No one tried to get me to buy anything I did not need. Everything was completed in a timely manner and everyone was very professional.

I kept the stars at two, feeling a bit generous, but the last repair I had done here (because I won’t be back) lasted just long enough for the warranty to be up on it, literally, by a few weeks. In my initial review I said the work they did was «okay», I’d now say overall it was below average probably.

I have been a customer since 2008. The employees at this Midas treat me like family. It’s terrific to drive away from a mechanic knowing that your safety has been prioritized. I have experienced friendliness, honesty, precise and efficient work, and even been told how I can get some parts in a less expensive way. There was a brief interval when I drove a questionable Volkswagen Golf, otherwise I’ve had Hondas. With the VW, friends told me I should go to a VW exclusive mechanic and I did. After multiple problems with two different VW mechanics, I took the car to Midas and was told it was extremely unsafe. Work was done and the car was replaced. Another time I made a point to call the regional manager for Midas and leave a voicemail about how much I appreciated this mechanic and how I always felt cared for by all their staff. There have been many services Midas has done without charge for me as «extras.» When you have a big bill, this is always appreciated! I only recently remembered I could Unilocal!I have a Midas closer to where I live on the Eastside, but I continue to patronize Midas in Beaverton because they treat me so well.
The services I have used most recently are:
–new alternator
–new tires
–oil change
–belt replacement

My family and I have been going to the Beaverton Midas for years! I wouldn’t trust my car with anyone else. All the employees at Midas are extremely friendly and very helpful. Anything from an oil change to a new transmission, I know I can trust Lonnie and his crew. I have never received anything but the best here, I definitely give these guys five stars!

ETA 1÷14÷13: I originally gave this Midas 1 star, but changed it to 3 based on my experience today. The manager Eric gave me a call based on the feedback I had left (story below). He apologized profusely and insisted (rightfully) that his mechanic was correct about the nail. He asked if I would bring it in so he could make it right. Of course I was hesitant, but Eric insisted they could fix it right away at no charge.
I brought it in and — sure enough — there was a nail. The mechanic promptly fixed it and Eric gave me a couple of coupons to make up for the trouble. It was pleasant and I’m very impressed with how the situation was handled. Eric said he hoped I would come back and I just might.

Words cannot express how disappointed I am with my experience at this Midas today. I’m a reasonable person, with reasonable expectations and would never leave a negative review unless it was absolutely warranted.
Earlier this week I called to make an appt to get my grinding brakes checked. John told me to bring it in on Saturday morning. I told him I’d bring it as early as I could, thinking it would make it easier on him. I showed up this morning at 8:30 AM. John told me to leave the car and they would call within an hour or two when they had an estimate.
I waited until 11:15 and called for a status update. Turns out, John was down a mechanic and was running behind. In fact, he told me he had me down at «11» because he wasn’t sure what time I would come in. Okay — Why didn’t he tell me that when I left the car at 8:30 and told him it was my only transportation? I could have just left with the car and come back.
But I understand mistakes happen and that people call in sick. He tells me it would be another hour and my car was next on the lift. Okay. I believe him. I walk back to the location and wait in the waiting room. My car doesn’t get loaded onto the lift until 1PM. That’s 4.5 hours AFTER I dropped it off and 2.5−3 hours AFTER he said it would be looked at. I’m upset, but wait patiently for the estimate. At 1:30 the work estimate is confirmed and they tell me it will be done at 2:30, which was when I told them I needed to pick up my husband from work. I’m stupidly impressed it would only take them an hour, so I go grab lunch and come back — it’s not done until 3.
Upset, but not wanting to make a scene, I pay my bill. John is very apologetic about the wait. I tell him «it’s okay» just thankful to have my car back after 6.5 hours.
The wait isn’t even the reason I’m writing this review. Keep in mind — I spent 6.5 hours of my Saturday waiting for this car.
So the mechanic tells me theres a nail in my left rear tire (he even wrote it on the diagnostic sheet). He very nicely tells me I could save money if I take it to my tire place. I know this, and make an appt to get the tire fixed an hour after I leave Midas, thankful that the mechanic had found it.
I carefully drive to my tire place, wait another half hour and guess what — NO NAIL! I had them check every single tire. I have no idea why the mechanic would tell me there is a nail when there isn’t, but that level of incompetence is just… mind numbingly frustrating.
I will never, again take my car to this Midas. I would highly suggest anyone thinking about using this Midas go to another shop. John is a really nice guy, but the mistakes and misquotes that happened today just should not happen.

I received a coupon from Safeway after grocery shopping one day for these guys. My poor Corolla was way overdue for a full service, oil change, tire rotation, etc. The coupon was for $ 19.95 for all of these services. What a deal! I got on Unilocal before I called and saw their excellent reviews. I decided to book an appointment with them and was so glad I did! The guy who answered the phone was ultra friendly and helpful. They were booked out about 3 days but that was ok with me.
I arrived and was pleased to see a nice waiting area for customers. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and told me it would take about 45 mins to 1 hour for my car to be done. No problem. I had brought plenty of reading material.
My car was ready right on schedule. To my surprise they said everything was fine. They didn’t try to sell me a new air filter or anything like the other oil change places. My total came to just what the coupon said. $ 19.95. I also found out that ALL of the work is done by certified mechanics, not young guys fresh out of high school with little knowledge of cars. Since they are a full-​service auto repair shop, I will definitely be back for all of my cars’ needs.

This shop is centrally located and the guys working here are awesome. Eric — asst. magr — is above and beyond helpful and easy to talk with. John at the front desk answered all my questions and I NEVER felt rushed. They are a popular car repair shop because they’re good… and the prices are very reasonable.
Eric actually went to repair school to learn his craft. He is superior with car diagnostics. Remember — you might not get in the day you stop over… but it’s worth the wait.

The workers at Midas are like a breath of fresh air which is unusual for a car place. They are very friendly, welcoming, and patient — especially while answering questions. Their prices are more than fair and they give you a sheet detailing the expenses so there are no surprises before they start working on your car. They book up fast, so it’s good to make an appointment. I highly recommend them!!!

I completely trust these guys. Their prices are typically lower than any other place. The only issue that I have with them is they book up quickly and it usually takes some time to work on your car. But even with that, I would still give them a 5 star because of their honesty and service!

This place had AMAZING customer service. Not only did they replace my muffler for HALF of what I was quoted at another muffler shop, but they noticed that I had winter tires in my back seat and asked if I would like them put on – free of charge. I will definitely be returning for other auto needs.
I also appreciated that they had a great bar suggestion for waiting for the muffler to get fixed. Nice job, guys!

Thanks to the previous Unilocalers for leading me to Midas. This time, all I needed was new windshield wipers, but I will go back for my basic car maintenance needs. The staff, from the entertaining woman at the front desk to the men working on the cars, were great. Granted, it was just windshield wipers, but the one in the back was misbehaving and they took the time to really fix it up right.
Let’s face it, you can’t have misbehaving wipers in and around Portland! With no appointment, I was treated really well and I will definitely go back because of that.

I have gone to them twice and for oil changes occasionally when I had my other car. They have actually never let me down and struck me as very honest and fair. They pointed out exactly what was wrong, physically showing me, and giving me a fair, yet slightly higher than I wanted to pay quote. All in all I haven’t been to them often enough to really start nuthugging them, but they have done me no wrong. Based on others reviews of this shop it seems a good place to have your auto work done. If my car was more of a piece of junk and they fixed it more often I might be like Woohoo, as good as it gets but I am not there yet.

I’ve been impressed on my couple of visits with how decent these folks seem. Very friendly, up front and honest, and glad to explain things. Once they even told me when some really expensive repair was not needed right away and may never even be needed if I’m lucky enough. And they didn’t charge me just for taking a look.
One of the mechanics even took me under the car while it was lifted up and was showing me stuff, but I think he could tell that I was a little freaked out and kept waiting for it to drop on my head, so he made it quick and led me out from under the car to continue the discussion.
I let these folks put in a new radiator, and they did a fine job (not that I would know other than the fact that it’s been several months with no problems).
