CoffeeFirst Saigon Grill

So we just happened to be in this neck of the woods and we were craving some phở. We came in right after opening at about 10:15 am, no other dinners present. We sat down and were given water immediately which I noticed had a swirling whirlpool of detergent? Thus making it bubbly and not appealing. The service was prompt, our order was taken. We ordered two jasmine teas and two phos. The waitress proceeds to (this is my opinion of what happened) steam in the espresso machine steam wand our cold jasmine tea… Which tasted like nothing with s hint of flower by the time we got it. Please serve fresh tea. Then we got our food as to which I found out much later that my wife pulled a long black hair out of her phở. I reach for some fish sauce (which they have non) then some hot sauce. Much to my delight that under all the condiments and napkins and such there is one of two things… A corroded finish on the table or years of grimy nasty crap that hasn’t been cleaned properly because they are to lazy or unclear as to how to properly clean a table. I am thinking unclean. I didn’t want to figure it out… I was hungry and the phở actually tasted decent. Hence the two stars. Ok maybe it’s cause I’m a white American guy but it would be nice if during the meal the server came back to ask if things were good, or if we needed some more crappy steamed tea. Or something… Then there’s the weird Disney travel and cruise literature that’s everywhere. So decent phở (other than the hair), dirty table, dirty glass, steamed tea, hair in phở, kinda lazy service. (Uggs on a server is never good and please feel free to pick up your feet as opposed to sliding them a crossed the floor). Ok that’s my rant. Won’t be back.

Had a bad feeling about this place as soon as I entered. Dirty. Beaten down furniture. Fake plants décor.
Go somewhere else.

This little gem is tucked away behind a shopping center off of walker & 185^th in Beaverton so Unless your dirving down walker you may not see it. Its a cosy little place that is always filled with patrons. I dont usally stray from my meals becuase once I find somethin I like I stick with it. They have a good selction on Phở, I have had the Grill special that has every cutt of meat to the Eye round steak with well done flank. The portion is perfect because I always share it with my daughter and we get more then enough for the both of us. The crispy wontons & the fresh spring rolls are a wonderful appetizers to start of the meal.

I eat here for lunch fairly regularly. I always get the vegetable phở with tofu, and it’s delicious. Service is always fast and friendly. Great lunch for around $ 10. Ambience is a little lacking but the food is really good. Thumbs up.

Best Vietnamese on the west side. The noodles are always fresh and warm. The meat is grilled over a flame. It is always delicious. Has never let us down.

Close to home and a great place to get veggie phở. We’ve come here a couple of times and every time the staff is very friendly. I ordered an Italian soda once and it was very good, but a touch too sweet for me. I’m happy to come here just for the phở though.

Mediocre food. My husband ordered the chicken and shrimp rice dish and the portion can be compared to a kids meal. He said there was a gamey smell from the chicken and he was NOT impressed. I had the lemongrass seafood bun and it had a weird curry sauce that made the entire dish soggy. Better step it up Coffee First– there are tons of Vietnamese restaurants near you that are way better.

Everyone was nice! The food was… okay. If I’m being polite.
If I’m being honest… the meat was that weird shiny/​rainbowy thing meat does when it is old/​going bad. The vegetables I got were not fresh but the other people at my table got fresh vegetables and I was slightly jealous looking at my wilty stuff in comparison. My lime was so old it was impossible to squeeze for any juice and it was turning brown :\
I will not be back. What a bummer.

I’ve never had anything I didn’t like, everything is delicious! One of the waitresses is amazing, don’t care at all for the rest. Food is great and there Phở is the best I’ve had in the area.

I really like the oddness of this place. They have pretty good food, but they lose a star for being a bit pricey. I really like that I can come and get phở and a mocha for breakfast! Their calamari is really good too.

My boyfriend and I come here all the time for phở! You get such a big bowl for only $ 9 and it is SO GOOD. I am very picky when it comes to phở and this place never disappoints. I’ve been to many Vietnamese restaurants around town and the Portland area and Saigon Grill is my favorite. Y’all go support their business!

The food was ok. I ordered the combination dish and it was ok, no complains.
The service walked slowly like snail (even though there was only us inside and it was 12pm). The girl did not smile at us (maybe she thought we were Asians and we would never give her tips)
I just tried their rice dish and it was good.
If you wanna try new things without talking to the service, this is the best choice for you!

The Spring rolls (#4) are a must have, but a warming to you that once you have them here no others will do. The Regular dishes here are good but if you want a new treat try the beef or pork salad number 41 and 44 on the menu, both are a wonderful tasty treat.

I want to give this place 3 three stars, but my latest visit was a disappointment. The quality of the food is so so, a bit pricey. The last time my girlfriend and i went there at 8:30 pm, we want some phở, so we went in sawing that the place close at 9:30 pm, so we had like 1 hour to eat. But the girl worked there coming out, said that we could only order to go. The restaurant closed in like 1 hour, and we were refused to serve if we were dine-​in, so we just left. I mean if the you guys don’t want to provide service to customer, don’t open a restaurant. I worked in a restaurant so i know that we will only do to go only if 15 mins until close. I don’t know if that is the idea of manager or the owner, but i don’t think that i will coming back to a restaurant that doesn’t welcome the customers.

This was a very impromptu visit for an early dinner. Driving home from work and had a craving for PHO and then literally looking to my right and saw the sign like a beacon in the dark.
When we entered we were promptly greeted and sat at a table. The menus kind of went on forever with so many plates and so many different food types.
We opted for the spring rolls as an appetizer, these were very good and the sauce was very peanut buttery.
While waiting for our main course, we had some time to look around the restaurant. Everything is very dated, seemed clean but just mismatch items and the chairs reminded me of hotel conference chairs.
The PHO was alright, no flavor particularly jumped out at me. Seemed pretty ordinary.
Overall I would visit again for lunch

Coffee-​first, alright! From the supreme-​o cheap-​o enriched white flour hoagie rolls used for the Bahn Mi (which, nonetheless, did a incongruently nice job, balancing the sweetness, and the spiciness of the hoagies’ otherwise pedestrian innards), to the greazzzzy, bland Phở’ noodles, to the way over-​battered salt-​n-​peppa calamari, to the «what the heck is Pad Thai doing on this menu, since you repeatedly emphasized this was a Vietnamese, ie NOT Asian Fusion joint», if there ever is a next time at this place, I hope I remember to stick w/​coffee first and ONLY…
A final note, concerning their menu. They have in bold italics, the phrase «The Pleasure of Live» across the header. At first I was bemused and figured it was an innocent type-​o. Then, after thinking about it a while, the thought occurred, perhaps they were having a little fun, splicing «The pleasure of Love» with «The Pleasure of Life», and heck, maybe even threw in «The Pleasure of Liver» for good measure. Too bad, after 6 years of honing their craft in this restaurant, the pleasures were few and far between, as evidenced by the notably sparsely populated dining area during the late afternoon «rush» that I stopped by for take-​out…

This place is great. The broth of the Phở is quite tasty, and the eggrolls are definitely above average. Service is typical of a Phở restaurant. …Quick seating, automatic waters and they bring out the food pronto.
I love the place and definitely recommend going.

Went here tonight with a group of 20 people. They handled the table very well, checked on us enough without being annoying, and kept our waters filled.
The Phở was very yummy. I got a chicken phở and ate it there, and a beef phở for my fiancé. The to go order caused me to truly become even more of a fan: They bundled his to-​go Phở up like a delicate package, ready to be shipped to him then transported via courier dolphin, between two layers of paper and plastic. His phở add-​ins (Basil, lime, jalepeno, etc) were each wrapped, bagged, and labeled. The noodles were also put into their own large container to keep them fresh and not down-​trodden by broth should they have combined the two.
The broth was making me salivate as I then drove with this tender package of yummy morsels across town.
Good mix of flavors and not too salty– I have had tried some phở that just tasted like salty chicken. LARGE serving sizes, and I love my phở, don’t get me wrong… but I was more than full and still took the rest of my chicken phở to go.
Friendly service, phở runs about 8 – 9 dollars a dish, and the servings and combination of fresh flavors are worth it. The chicken was very tender.
Go get your phở on.

After a long evening at Urgent Care with my poor battered hubby (got hit by a car on his bike yesterday), we asked princess what she wanted for dinner.
«phở».
This said jumping up and down.
Okay, more like «PHO!!!»

This was a good choice. I know this place is rather odd, but we’ve always had good experiences here. It’s clean, fast, the service is kind and unobtrusive, and we like it. Christmas lights, plastic flowers, and all. Really.
Husband had his bun (grilled pork, eggrolls) with a mojito. He likes the mojito, he let me taste it and I agreed. Yum. But, I had mine without and my bowl of bun was very good. Fresh, tasty, full of pork and other good things.
Daughter had a vat of grilled chicken phở off the adult menu (8.99),. We took a ton of it home but she ate a ton there too, she inhaled all the broth. She doesn’t order off the kid’s menu because it comes without all the add ons.
We’ve not eaten beef in many years (ssh those of you who know about my cheating cheeseburger moments), so I can’t speak to the regular phở. It smells like it’s supposed to, that anise, ginger and clove scent is intoxicating… But the chicken is quite satisfying and delicious. I like it with the steamed chicken, the rest of my family likes it grilled.
The big plate of sprouts, jalapenos, lime, and basil leaves that accompanies the soup bowl (um, vat) is always fresh and yummy.
Good stuff.

Went in multiple time for work meetings. The make a variety of different foods besdes Viet they make Thai and some burgers and fries too. They have a large dessert list. Food is decent, there’s other places around that makes better Viet food. Some dishes I’ve had:
Lotus root salad: Decent, fresh and crispy. Full of flavor and comes with a crispy wonton skin
Pad Thai: What you would expect from a Viet place making Pad Thai
Dessert: It’s a little too light on flavor almost like they didn’t make it in store.
