Business Owner
James Ragsdale’s dynamic experiences — in music, performance, and composition — began as a pianist studying under scholarship at Lewis & Clark College. After 2 years, he enlisted under contract with the United States Marine Corps Concert Band performing as principal clarinet/piano soloist. After an honorable discharge with 4 years of service he entered undergraduate studies earning a BM/BA (clarinet) from P. S.U. (composition/Thomas Svoboda). Subsequently, many years of public/private band and clarinet instruction, coupled with principal chair performances in orchestras (under the batons of Salvador Brotons and Keith Clark) professional musicals and bands throughout the region were regular activities. He began graduate school in 2004 attaining an M.S.T. in 2006, and has taught public/private school bands afterward; additionally, the performance of his 18 minute work by the Pacific Crest Wind Symphony and the Eugene Symphonic Band (among others) has showcased his compositional talents.
