Bay Ridge Body Care Spa

I came across this place via groupon and I would not go back or recommend anyone go there. My groupon was for a one hour couples massage with a 30 minute foot massage each. We arrived at 6pm, on time but the masseuse wasn’t ready so we waited. After about 10 minutes we were taken to the room and got ready. A woman comes in and starts my massage then a few seconds later whispers to my boyfriend something about his masseuse being late. After about 20 minutes, his massage was started. My masseuse finished me up at about 7:30 and my boyfriend was done by 7:38. Needless to say we weren’t given the full hour and a half. Both massages were mediocre at best and one of the the massage therapists had gas during the massage. The walls separating the rooms did not go all the way up to the ceiling so you heard everything going on. Our massage therapists were chatty and talked a lot amongst themselves as well as to a masseuse in the «room» next to ours. After we were done, one of the massage therapists and what appeared to be the manager stopped us and stood in front of the door to the lobby discussing what appeared to be the price of our services. Then one turned to us and held out her hand saying «you pay tip cash…»? Rude, unprofessional and bold if you ask me. I always pay 20% of the regular price of service not the Groupon. We left $ 35 and vowed never again. Their regular prices are over priced and definitely not worth the service. I’ll never go back or suggest it to a friend, family member, coworker, etc. Ugh, the only good thing was that Bogota was a couple blocks away and the dinner and drinks were really good as always.

This was by far the worse spa experience I ever had. This place is not a spa it more on the lines of s sweat shop. There is no privacy just Chinese paper screen and it smelled like old Chinese food/​rat decaying. The receptionist who also massages me aggressively asked for the tax and tip as soon as we walked into the sweat shop. After telling her over and over that I will give it afterwards, she reluctantly escorted us to the space behind the screen and told us to «take off clothes and lay down on the «makeshift’ massage table with a hole in it for the face. After arguing over who was going to massage my fiancé how stands 6 feet 5 inches and 298 pounds (very unprofessional). After the worse massage I ever had and his first (sorry baby), we get dress and walk to the front desk. They are sitting there with their hats and coats on ready to go; I handed my credit card and said charge $ 25 including the tax and she tells me people who buy on GROUPON tip $ 10 each, I said no charge my card $ 25. When she handed my receipt the receipt said $ 28. She over charged what I told her to do. I’m already apprehensive of buy things on GROUPON because I feel they don’t fact check the company’s they let promote their business on their site but this right here takes the cake for me. I’m closing my GROUPON and making a complaint with the BBB. Shame on GROUPON; for offering a deal for a sweat shop with the pretense of beings pa.

DO NOT BUY THE GROUPON DEAL (Massage for One or Two with Optional Mini Facial or Foot Massages at Bay Ridge Body Care (Up to 64% Off)) IT IS A RIP! They never pick up their phone for you to make an appointment, so you have to go through the hassle of getting a refund from Groupon.

Super rude staff, noisy and forced to pay ridiculous «tips» and taxes not included in Groupon. Went for couples massage and had to tell them to stop talking it was distracting, besides hearing every phone call and loud conversation in the reception area. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. No private rooms everything separated by curtains not doors. Dingy and dirty. When I decided to give them the tip they deserved (which was still reasonable) they acted like they didn’t want to take it and called me cheap lol… never again!

The worst experience in my life, i called to make an appointment, and the person don’t even speak well english and off course the lady took my number wrong. After this i called today just to make sure in the time and a rude guy answer the phone to tell me that he called me 3 times and that he had the wrong number and if i can come at 6 when my appointment was at 5 but because i didn’t answer he has to canceled, i was like what??? And he said that how many people cancel and that because he didn’t have a confirmation ha had to canceled, worst experience ever, i told him i will write a review about this and he told me cancel it i don’t want to do this, he has the nerve to cancel me???, he had the nerve to call me back and ask me what you write, i don’t even understand what he was talking, i just hung up and called groupon and let then know the kind of business they were dealing with. Plus on groupon they have one address and when i went there the store is close and for rent. I cant imagine what kind of message they give you if the customer service is like that!!!

After reading the reviews I decided to check it out before buying a Groupon. I don’t know how this place is still selling on Groupon when it is locked up tight with a «For Rent» sign in the window. What a scam!!!

This business has moved to Park Slope and changed their name to Barclay Body Care Spa, but don’t be fooled — it’s the same awful place. This was the WORST experience I’ve ever had with a massage. I’m convinced the woman (Mona?) who «worked» on me could not possibly be trained or licensed. She had no idea what she was doing and I’m much more stressed than I was when I went in. I don’t know what she thought she was doing, but it was like she couldn’t decide — she spent 30 seconds pinching my neck and then moved to smashing my arm, even though I made it clear I didn’t want her to work on my arms or legs. She randomly did 5 minutes of hot stones and then jumped up on the table to try to give me a chiropractic adjustment. There was NOTHING therapeutic about this «massage,» which was really nothing more than 60 minutes of stress and frustration. She refused to respond to direction and just laughed when I told her that shoving the side of my face into the table to try to crack my neck was painful. She spent so much time just hitting me and even was hitting me in the head. When she got to the 30 minute foot massage part, she mostly just scratched the side of my big toe. I cannot believe how awful this experience was. I will be seeking a refund and alerting NYS licensing bodies that the massage therapists who work there cannot possibly be licensed to perform massage therapy.

No ty! Bought a Groupon for a couples massage. Mines was painful, my bf had to ask if they even did anything, because he fell asleep like a baby. Phone constantly ringing, the two ladies were tlkn n leaving the make shift room, and the guy was yelling. And pounding on someones back is not a massage. I’ve been to many places and this is the worst. Not even worth a Groupon or Livingsocial deal. STAY AWAY!

This business is garbage. I saw the groupon and decided I should call first to see if they had appointments before buying the groupon. I tried calling several times throughout the day during business hours and they never picked up — on a Tuesday.
So I figure I have some business in Dyker Heights, I’ll just swing by and see what’s going on at Bay Ridge Body Care Spa. I roll up to the place, and it looks like the typical places that you expect to offer you a little illegal something extra.
I talk to the woman at the front desk and ask her to make an appointment. She tells me «oh, no — we’re too busy now.» I biked here and was inquiring about a couple’s massage, I made it clear I wasn’t interested in services at the moment. I asked about their availability for the weekend, and she said: «Come tomorrow, 11:30.» And I repeated myself, «What about the weekend?» to her ignoring me again: «Yeah, come tomorrow at 11:30.»
I didn’t come the next day at 11:30. Luckily I only wasted about 20 minutes going there and talking to this bossy, unconscientious woman. You get what you pay for. Spend a little more and get some respect, and more than likely a better experience.

The worst massage I have ever had.
So my boyfriend and I had a couples massage. The room is very small and tight. We get in to our bed. And we are each assigned a female massage therapist. My boyfriend had an amazing massage, so good he feel asleep.
Me on the other hand the worst massage. My person started to walk on my legs with her heal. I had to tell her to stop and please be softer. Then with no lotion for the entire time he proceeded punch me with her knuckles and hammering me with her fist. That was «massage» only good feeling was the stones. At times she would use her elbow and thumbs but it was so hard I got a bruise. Also threw out the massage she was speaking Chinese to the girl doing my BFs massage.
Really Unilocal gives me no choice but to give at least a 1star. But that 1star is not ok.

I finally was able to make reservation for a couples massage at Bayridge Body Care Spa after trying for 30 days! They always said to be booked but only after mentioning to have a groupon.
I’m so surprise Groupon sponsors or has this place as one of their offers. I walked in to this establishment and was immediately turn off by its dirtiness. The lack of cleanliness & light, the leather seats were dusty and had newspapers thrown all over the ace as well as some kids sweater.
The front desk attendant was rude and loud, I’m surprise people actually go there.
The massage were (for lack of better words) way below standards of satisfaction, the «massage therapists» kept constantly talking to each other and the front desk attendant… it was obvious (even though I don’t speak their language) it was about us they talked about.
My alleged «massage therapist» kept walking away and was not able to finish my massage for lack of time, she pounded over and over on the back of my head, left me dizzy with techniques to supposedly to get rid of the nods on my shoulder blades and behind my ears. My boyfriends
«massage therapists» on the other hand simply kept rubbing his head and smacking his arms, she made a failing attempt to realign & crack his neck which made him nervous, then she proceeded to insistently ask what he did for a living which made him even more uncomfortable.
Overall a really a really really bad experience it makes me doubt if I’ll purchase another Groupon for services again.

I have to give them two stars because the masseuse was actually really talented and they took me immediately with no appointment.
However, that’s where the positive aspects end.
Echoing all of these other reviews — the place is shady looking. You have no privacy. The curtains between my little area and the areas next to me didn’t fully close. I felt awkward the whole time thinking that someone was looking at me and getting dressed was especially uncomfortable.
The place was incredibly loud and my masseuse continually left during my massage to see who walked in the front door or to answer her own cell phone… it was really not relaxing and she left so many times, she probably spent more time doing those things than actually massaging me. It was definitely not an hour long.
I definitely won’t be back… really disappointing.

Where do I begin? My friend purchase a Groupon for $ 95 for a massage for two. She called the place for a month trying to make an appointment but the phone would either ring or go to answering machine. Finally she decided to just go and hope to be serviced.
When we walked in, we informed the man that we had a Groupon for a massage. He rudely asked if we had an appointment. We told him no and he said he was full. However, the place was empty and two of his employees were standing next to him.
The customer service was terrible, the place was dirty and did not look like a spa at all. In fact, I informed my friend that the establishment looked like a prostitution cover up. Luckily, Groupon gave my friend a refund.
Save your time and money. Go elsewhere!!!

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday off a groupon and it was a terrible experience. We got there early for a couple massage and they apparently doubled booked us with another couple so we waited till they finished arguing with the other couple. Then one of the ladies brought her son with her he must have been like 6 or 7 and he kept talking to his mom thru the curtain while she massage me and he played with his hand held toy which we could all hear. I was uncomfortable just with him being there. The place wasn’t pleasant on the eyes, not clean, cold, no pleasant music, just the phone constantly ringing, and people trying to come thru the front door, and the massage wasn’t good either. I left worse then I came in. Don’t waste your money. I wish I could post this on groupon because they are still on there for $ 35 couple massages even thou it’s a great price it isn’t even worth that.

This place is absolutely horrible. It looks trashy on the inside and out. I went for a massage yesterday, I came in 5 minutes early and there was confusion, she told me to give her the money beforehand and then it took 10 minutes for her to finally have me lay down and undress. The massage room was basically one big room divided by curtains, and the curtains didn’t even fit, I was clearly able to see the lady next to me, it was like we were in the same room. The massage wasn’t terrible, but it was pretty bad. At one point she was punching me in the head. Yes PUNCHING me in the head. I immediately told her that I didn’t like that. Throughout the massage she dragged her belly along my head and wherever else she was massaging. She did a lot of punching first with her fist and the with hot stones. I don’t even think she was a licensed masseuse, the lack of professionalism in this establishment is unbelievable. Do not buy a Groupon or any type of certificate to Bay Ridge Body Care, they do not care about they’re costumers all they care about is the money. I went for the massage because I needed some stress relief and today I have pain in my neck that I did not go in there with. Do not go here !

I came to Bayridge Body Care Spa because of a groupon, regardless of the bad reviews I read. This experience started with them calling and pushing back the massage 3 hours because they didn’t have enough masseuses, so the appt was changed from 1pm to 4pm.
Walking into the place makes you want to walk back out. It looks like a broken down store front that’s trying to be nice but it just isn’t happening, and it looks exactly like that on the inside as well.
They bring you to the back, which looks kinda shady walking back to, and tell you to undress in an area where each massage table is separated by curtains, so there’s not much privacy.
The massage was a deep tissue massage, and was average at best.
Also the man that works there, and who was there when we first walked in is rude, and all you hear during the massage is him talking on the phone when it rings. Not a relaxing experience.

The massage wasn’t that good… She thought that slapping the back of my head as if it was my back was fit. The facility itself is not comfortable either. Although they’ve fixed the issue with it being cold by placing heaters and purchasing heated mats to lay on. There really are no walls there, just the Chinese make shift walls, that are see through if the looking from the right angle (keep in mind you’re expected to undress up to your underwear). There are no doors either, just curtains. Made me feel like I was at some brothel…
The masseuse left about ¾ times during the massage, granted 1 time was to get the hot stones, but they should really have been in the «cubicle».
The man really does walk around and talk all the time. I kept looking at the curtains to make sure he wasn’t coming in as I lay there naked. It was really uncomfortable. He and the masseuse kept talking in an Asian dialect and it was quite annoying. If he was not talking to the masseuse, he was talking loudly on the phone.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

Do not go here! They rip you off with a coupon and they are VERY rude.
I bought a coupon that was a $ 35 gift card and on the bottom it says that they would honor it within a year. I went back about 9 months later and they told me it expires me in 3 months! Don’t give me a piece of paper that says it expires in one year if it expires in 3 months!
Take your money elsewhere. Seriously.

I really wish I had read the previous reviews before purchasing this Groupon. I bought a 60 minute massage and 30 foot rub for $ 50 (originally listed as $ 120).
My first experience was when I called and a male employee answered the phone. I told him I would like to make an appointment for the next week. He said that he had an 11 o’clock appointment available. Perfect. Then he asked if I had a «Groupon, right?» (this should have been my first sign). He never asked my name but just wanted my number. He said, «okay, we will see you at 12». And I reminded him he said 11. Hmmm…
Day of massage, a female called me a half hour before my appointment to ask me if I wanted to come in now. I told her my appointment was for 11 and she kept asking me if I wanted to come in now. I conceded and finishing getting ready which only got me there 10:50 am. The outside door was open and on a hot and very humid summer day. No one was up front. The female employee appeared a couple of minutes later. She asked for my Groupon number and proceeded to tell me it didn’t include tax. No problem, it was only $ 4. I told her I could do it now or after the massage.
Upon walking into the back room, I was shocked that their prices are so high for the lack of spa appearance. It was a huge room with curtain areas. I was put in the first room and asked to strip down to underwear. The ‘curtain door’ didn’t cover the open space. Anyone walking by could see me changing. I am not much of a shy person but I figure I would at least have some privacy.
The massage and foot rub was good. But everything else stole away from this experience. I could hear the traffic on the street since the door was open. My female masseuse left the ‘room’ and left the curtain door open to talk to the male employee (the one originally on phone). When she returned I didn’t her the curtain go back. So now all I am thinking of is ‘did she leave that open? who is walking by and can they see me?’ And when she left the room again, I looked up to see the curtain open. You can hear the curtain open/​close. Noting later she did close it.
The talking between the two employees didn’t stop. I don’t think they went more than 3 minutes without talking to each other or on the phone. And it was in a different language so I had no idea what they were saying. If they weren’t talking to each other then the male employee was on the phone. Not just answering more Groupon appointments but possible personal calls (in a foreign language).
It gets better! During the first half hour of massage another client comes in. And the male employee sets her up. You can hear everything that goes in the building. He goes in to do the massage and the individual informs him she requested a female to do her massage, which is her right! He replys «Oh my god!» and seemed annoyed. And when my female masseuse finishes the massage, he comes in to do my foot rub. I don’t mind male or female but they didn’t ask if I was okay with the switch in advance and didn’t communicate what they were going to do. And he only took one phone call during my foot rub.
I was unable to relax during the entire time with all the talking and not knowing if the curtain was shut or not. They finally shut the outside door and turned on the air conditioner in the last 30 minutes.
I checked the time when the massage was done and it was 12:20. And I walked into the building at 10:50. But I had to wait for the female employee to come to the front, I had to give her my Groupon code, and change before they could even start the 90 minute massage. Hmmmm… just doesn’t add up.
I learned my lesson. You get what you pay for and I should read the reviews on companies. If you already paid for your Groupon, use it before the promotional value expires. if you haven’t paid for a Groupon, don’t sign up for this one. There are tons of places in Bay Ridge to get a massage for this quality at a cheaper price and don’t label themselves as a ‘spa’.

Massage was not bad, except she kept walking out and talking. they were 30 min late to take me in. the room was cold. the place is dingy. take your $ elsewhere.

Went for a massage this weekend that I purchased from Groupon. Overall I have no complaints, the full body /​foot massage was quite wonderful and relaxing. However, as everyone has stated they are pretty under staffed. Phone rang several times and nobody was there to answer and you can hear it as you’re getting your massage. My masseuse even have to leave twice because someone came to the door to make an appointment. Other than that, I enjoyed my massage. Make sure to call ahead to schedule an appointment…

Let me start my review by saying please don’t waste your money and come here! I don’t know how the word «spa» could ever be related to this establishment. The massage started late because my masseuse was busy helping customers walk in the door after she already started the timer. Then once she started massaging me a previous customer came in and started demanding for someone to retrieve her slippers that were apparently under my massage table. My masseuse almost gave away my smoking slippers to this rude and obnoxious customer yelling for her slippers until I stopped my masseuse!
Every time the phone rang the answering machine would go off and I would hear the entire message the customer would leave.
Every time a customer came in to inquire about massage bookings she would stop. She even stopped to go to the bathroom. There was no aromatherapy, candles, robes, eye mask, heated table, notta! There was even a loud alarm at the end of the treatment that could wake up the dead! The whole time while laying on my stomach I had to look at her cheesy toes and cheap flip flops! Curtains separate the massage beds!!! This was pure torcher!

I brought a AMAZON coupon for a couple’s massage and used it just yesterday. When I looked for the place, I was highly disappointed at its appearance. It looked so tacky. However, I decided to give it a chance.
We entered and was told that we had to wait because our masseuse was stuck in traffic. I didn’t have a problem with that, seeing how I arrived late. We were charged a «pre-​tip», I think that is what it was because that’s what it sounded like she was trying to say. I tried to pay her more that $ 6.00 but she kept refusing it. So, I left it at that.
When the second masseuse finally arrived, we were escorted to the back of the place.
I felt uneasy and uncomfortable; luckily was I wasn’t there by myself. It was dark and dingy-​looking. I felt like I was in some sort of underground brothel like I had seen in the movie TAKEN. There were separate massaging areas but all were divided by curtains. It seem kind of junky. She told us to undress (Mind you, it is cold in this area) but we followed instructions. I figured the heat would eventually kick in.
I can’t say anything bad about my masseuse. I think she was thorough; although she kept walking to the front to talk to a man (who I presume was the owner). My friend seem to enjoy his massage, I heard him snoring. That is the only reason, why they get two stars.
When we were done, I was approached by that same man. He kept trying to sell me a discounted gift certificate. He was very, very, VERY persistent and pushy. Luckily, my friend suggested that we would call back if we were interested. I would have brought it if he hadn’t mention that AMAZON made ALL the money on this visit and they didn’t make none. HOW IS THAT MY PROBLEM?
Afterwards, he seem so annoyed and quickly asked for the masseuses’ tip. I was a little surprise and confuse because I thought that’s what I had paid for in the first place. I didn’t even want to explain the misunderstanding. I don’t have a problem tipping, I know they work hard too but I don’t like how he came off. He proceeded to inform me in a confrontational tone that the «girls» don’t make anything and this is how they make their money. I didn’t appreciate that tone and his attitude. I was confuse, that’s all.
As I was giving him their tip, he mentioned that the tip should be between $ 10-​$ 20. So, when I gave him $ 13.00 for each masseuse;he gave me nasty looked and said «That’s it!?!» I couldn’t believe how unprofessional and rude he was! No wonder, this business had to seek AMAZON’s help to get clientele.
After all that had happen, that was the break point.
Forget that, they arrived late and had us waiting.
Forget that, the massaging area was cold and dark…
Forget that, it the heat never kicked in…
Forget that the masseuse kept interrupting my massage…
Forget the fact, that the towel placed on me during my massage felt kind of cold and wet…
Forget the fact, I overhear the male worker/​owner? told the other clients that they had to come back because WE ARRIVED LATE. Yes, blamed us!
His lack of professionalism, solidified the fact that I WON’T BE RETURNING…
