Surprisingly, it’s often difficult to find salad-as-a-meal options on the road. Quality is usually lacking, unless one snags overpriced carryout from a high end steak house(Morton’s, Ruth’s). Bars, fast food? Nope. They don’t do salads, or at least not enough to ensure that the lettuce doesn’t reek of ammonia. This place gets it right. The only thing they do is salads, and they use exactly what you want, and how much of it you want. The dressing I tried, Balsamic vinegar, was excellent, though I could have been happy with several other choices. Fresh, filling, well-priced.

As a super salad fan, I certainly enjoyed my lunch here! There is nothing like a huge salad to make my day!!! And really, I thought the prices were rather reasonable. I ordered the BLT salad but replaced the bacon with chicken so really, it was a CLT salad! I think it was about $ 7.75 which I didn’t think was too bad for its size. I also really liked how they chopped up the salad. I found that the flavors infused together more that way! Also, they included a full half of avocado on the top of the salad! I’m a sucker for avocado! It seemed like a very clean restaurant, though I didn’t get to check out the bathroom so I can’t speak for that one. The location is great for me since I seem to live at Trader Joes. I only wish they had a few more options for kids as sometimes the parents want to come here but maybe don’t know what they can order that the kids will eat. Mine usually will eat a salad but you never know when the picky bug might strike! Darn kids! Ha ha. Maybe if they just throw in a pb and j sandwich or chicken nuggets, all would be happy.

This is a great lunch spot. I thought it was going to be too lite at first, but this wasn’t the case at all. The veggies were fresh, chicken was tasty and cooked just right. Nice atmosphere too.

Awesome place! I like to make my own wrap(mix/romaine + carrots + red onion + egg + black beans + cheddar + croutons + bacon + avocado w Shoppe Specialty dressing in a spinach wrap if you want a tasty and hearty meal) but salads are on point too. Also, the owner is great and the staff gets to know you if you’re a regular. Lines can be longer at lunch, but I don’t mind. I highly recommend.

This is a very clean and healthy place, very easy and time efficient way of picking out a salad. The salads are good just a bit pricy. There’s a lot to choose from.

When the lettuce is fresh the salads are delicious. I always build my own and get the dressing on the side. Otherwise it’s a soggy situation

This place is OK. I wish BR had a better selection of salad options. Called in my order for the ceasar salad with chicken, it served the purpose.

Yes, I am a fan! While out with a friend for lunch. She suggested this place. I’m glad she did! Its basically salad bar on steroids. You can choose to create your own masterpiece or you can order one of their creations which is what I did; for around $ 9. I got a lot of things. They had everything I would want on a salad. Of course I had to limit myself because I am sure my salad would have cost thousands of dollars. I ended up with chicken, corn, cranberries, feta, spinach leaves, jalapenos, mushrooms and tomatoes along with balsamic vinegarette dressing. It was perfectly chopped. I will be back and thankfully there is one closer to my house!

What a lovely place to lunch. If you are coming in to quickly pick up a salad during a work day, I’d suggest coming early. Right at noon, this place is PACKED, and for good reason. They have a wide variety of salad toppers, more dressings than I can name here(even Hanley’s, the local dressing creator), and the coolest salad cutter I’ve ever seen. The servings are PLENTIFUL and you will leave full, happy, and glad you didn’t eat something super fatty for lunch today. Most salads will set you back less than $ 10, so why haven’t you been yet?

I’ll be honest, my first words that came out of my mouth when I walked into the place was«hippies». However, the warm service and great salad has me coming back. There was minimalist kind of feel to the place, and at first it appeared to be lacking. Then I realized it was salads and pretty much salads only aside from the salad wraps. Once I started putting it together and adding things, I realized the place was more than meets the eye. The people were helpful with choosing dressings and add ons as well. I liked it, and will go back when I’m needing that healthy fix.

Looking for a fast lunch without risking you health for the satisfaction of flavor, then search no farther The Salad Shop located on Perkins Rd. It’s the primer green fast food eatery in the capital city area. Items are prepared daily and the staff is alway friendly. Although, a meal on average are between $ 7.00-$ 10.00, it’s better then an artery clogging burger and fries. So, remember tomorrow, at the desk around 11 o’clock, before calling the pizza boy/girl, think green a go to The Salad Shop.

This is a great lunch stop. It’s an assembly line of fresh ingredients. Get a salad off the menu or Pick what you want in your salad and at the end they chop it up for you and add the dressing. If u want it on the side you have to tell them that. In and out in less than 5 mins with a generous portion of salad for lunch. I will def be back here. A salad and a drink will run around $ 10 bucks. There is seating available inside the restaurant as well but I got mine to go. Will def return to mix my salad up a bit.

Caesar Crunch: Romaine lettuce, grilled chicken, parmesan cheese, croutons, and sunflower seeds with their recommended traditional caesar dressing all for $ 7. A very delicious Caesar salad! I’ve never had sunflower seeds in a salad before, and I absolutely loved it! The seeds give the salad a nice crunch and nutty taste that really enhance the flavors of the dressing. I also love how they chop up the salad for you, making it easier to eat. No more struggling to put a huge piece of lettuce in your mouth or on your fork! Here at The Salad Shop, they make the salads right in front of you. You have the choice of creating your own salad or choosing from their Shop Signature Salads. Since it was my first time, I chose from the Shop Signatures. After they add all the ingredients in a large metal bowl, they go through a unique process of chopping and mixing everything together. They also check with you to control the amount of dressing that you want to add! The employees here are very sweet and had great attitudes. The cashier even drew a quick little cartoon on my salad box. :) Its really great to see that there is a place where you can grab a quick, healthy meal with a large variety of fresh ingredients!

I like this place for a quick salad healthy lunch option. I hate buying a huge thing of spinach and it going bad. Or making a big salad and have leftovers that get soggy. So having a place with decently priced salads is nice. I don’t usually feel like salads too often but when I do I’ll choose going here more. Staff was nice and even warmed my chicken for me. I’m not a fan of cold meat.

Great ingredients to choose from. Salads are usually made and paid within 5 mins. Chirpin’ chicken is my default. Sub in strawberries for crainsens(you know they are likely added with sugar). I go very lightly on raspberry walnut dressing. Happy belly and in line with my attempts of eating healthy too. I catch myself scrapping the bowl. Tip a buck plus a free cup of water… all under the price of a green Hamilton($ 10 bill).

Wish we had more of these in Baton Rouge. Always a long line but always goes fast. I’ve never waited a long time in line. It is pretty expensive for a salad but it’s so freaking good and healthy(depending on what you get) I’ve always had fresh ingredients! Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to sit but normally I go during lunch for work so I don’t mind eating it at my office !

The Salad Shop, located in the burgeoning Perkins/Acadian neighborhood, is great for a quick lunch. It’s a fast-food salad shop. You can pick a salad from the menu or create your own and they mix it in front of you. It’s super quick and the salad bowls are huge! I’ve yet to be able to finish an entire salad from this place. It’s a little pricey– with a salad running you about $ 10, but like I said, you get a ton of food. One of the down sides is the seating. There’s just not enough so be prepared to either not have a seat or to be squished in next to another table.

«Build your own salad». We need more of these places to help encourage nutritious eating! It is exactly how I stated it… «build your own salad» or you can choose a salad from a «pre-set» menu that they will make fresh for you. A great concept, which definitely encourages healthy eating! The ingredients are fresh and servings were quite large — me, husband and my daughter were able to split the salad. Baton Rouge needs more places likes this… perhaps in every part of town. Some would think it is a little pricey, but how I see it is you are paying for quality ingredients, clean facility and great customer service. I absolutely loved my salad and there was enough to go around for all of us.

I hope this place stays in business! My wife and I love healthy alternatives after a few too many rich meals. If you are looking for a tasteful guiltless meal you can absolutely get it here! I stopped in around 5 pm and the place was practically empty, but I was told by an employee that they do get busy at lunch. The place is clean, and the customer service is good.

Update: I gave them some time sooooo their rating goes up! They’ve added some more salad ideas(which are yummy) and the employees are working quicker and a little more knowledgeable. The inside still bores me. I had the fruitopia salad today with chicken. It was reasonably priced and delish! I’m excited to go back and try the quinoa salad next! Keep up the good work! The inside is clean and nice… a little boring. It needs some sort of flare! They have a lot of selections of ingredients. I don’t like how they only have 4 salads listed on the menu. I guess you have to be creative to make your own salad or wrap. The employees were kind of shy. I ordered balsamic dressing and was given balsamic vinegar. The girl didn’t know the different types of cheeses and when I asked for avocado(which they said they had on the menu), they told me they didn’t have any. I guess I’ll give them another try after they have had time to work out the kinks.
