Come here for the wine, stay for the small plates. This is a great place to try a lot of great wine and snack on some of the best seasoned fries. I’ve come here with my parents when they visit and they have loved all the food they have tried. Service has always been exceptional. My only complaint is that they can sometimes get a little crowded, which is more of a problem for me, and not the establishment! There are some nice happy hour deals from 4 – 7, as well, which are worth checking out.

This, along with Oliver Twist and Lock and Key, is part of what I would call Baton Rouge’s «Triumvirate» of Classic, Hand-Crafted Cocktail Bars. Great location, cool atmosphere, live music, nice indoor area offering plenty of public space, but privacy of you want it. And then there’s a terrific courtyard for sitting back and enjoying a nice evening. The drinks are well made, all the classics but also their own twists on some things. Food is not your average bar food but several steps above benefitting from the excellent kitchen of Bin77. Some truly delicious items on offer there. Hannah does a great job managing the Sidebar. All the servers are on their game. Don’t miss this spot!

April 26, 2016: I was treated to Bin 77 for my birthday and it was delicious. We started off with the Louisiana Rock Shrimp Tempura,($ 10): Wasabi Aioli, Pickled Celery, Sweet Chili Sauce & Ponzu and the Baked brie with loaves of warm french baguettes. Both were delicious and were large portions. Then we ordered The Bin Burger($ 10) 10oz. Premium Angus Beef, Romaine Lettuce, Tomato, Caramelized Onions, Fire Roasted Garlic Ketchup, Roasted Bell Pepper Aioli — Served with Choice of Frites Add Porter Cheddar or Bacon //1. This was absolutely delicious and melted in our mouths. We also ordered the Market Cast Iron Seared Market Fish: Smoked Crawfish & Asparagus Risotto, Spinach Purée, Sundried Tomato & Artichoke Purée, Avocado Pico de Gallo, and a Burnt Lemon the fish of the day was Red Fish and was an explosion of flavors. Finally we had the chocolate lava cake which was like butter in our mouths. We sat outside and enjoyed people watching and had a marvelous time. 2015: During my most recent visit we ordered Horror Show Red Wine — a blend. It is as always delicious and was about $ 55 a bottle. Not so bad considering the retail price around $ 35. We had two bottles(LSU was loosing horribly and it was Saturday night). I did what I never ever do and order off«my beaten path» and selected the Coffee Demi Braised Short Ribs $ 22 – 24. It was a «24 Hour Braised Short Ribs, Creamy Parmesan Grits, Slow-Cooked Greens & Fried Garlic Chips». I am not sure what the slow-cooked greens were unless it was considered the«sauce» draped over the meal itself. The spare rib was tender and tasty but overall it was entirely too salty. So salty in fact that I did not finish and moved my plate across the table(another thing I never do). We did order our traditional cheese board with the usual suspects: Stilton Blue, a salty Gouda, and another I forget. All were delicious. My friend got The Bin Burger, frites, and a truffle aioli. $ 10 I heard no complaints. Maybe next time I’ll try the burger.

Came here for drinks and to catch up with the girls after work on w Friday. We ordered food and drinks from the happy hour menu. We shared the salmon flatbread, hummus, and bacon wrapped dates. Of the 3, the salmon flatbread was the best. Didn’t really care for the hummus, it didn’t have much flavor and seemed to be missing something. The bacon wrapped dates had a very interesting flavor. I only ate half of one bc it just wasn’t my thing. The server said that it’s a really popular choice, so judge that one for yourself. I ordered a Paloma to drink. It is really grapefruity but good. After about half an hour we decided it just wasn’t our scene and we went somewhere else to hang out a little while longer.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a coworker and I came here for my brother’s birthday. It is a small little restaurant located in Perkins Rowe. We started off with the bacon wrapper dates. They were good but a bit salty for our taste. My siblings and I order the prime rib, the beef tenderloin, and the short ribs as our entrée. The prime rib and the beef tenderloin were amazing. The prime rib was probably one of the best I have had. However the meats were not cooked to our liking. We believe the mixed up how we wanted our meat to be cooked but it was not a big enough deal for us to bring it up. The short ribs was the only disappointment of the three. It was a bit dry and under-seasoned. The mac and cheese that came as a side was excellent. We did not order any drinks that night but they seem to have a great wine selection. We ended the night on the half-baked brownie which was amazing and personally one of my favorite desserts in Baton Rouge now. The service was good and the staff was knowledgeable. The price were not unfair but the food could have been better for the price. Overall I would be willing to suggest this place for a really nice date because of the decoration, food and drink selection.

The best part about sidebar are the craft cocktails by John Morris! The menu is pretty tasty as well, especially the flatbreads! the cheeseboard is pretty awesome with rotating cheeses. Apparently during happy hour, you can get house wines and cocktails for $ 7 and also a mini cheeseboard for half price. I absolutely adore the décor and chalkboard menu!

Cool new hotspot in BR. Although the service was a bit slow, our waiter was very friendly and gave great recommendations for entrees. The food was superb and the atmosphere was elegant, yet cool. I will definitely dine here again and bring friends.

Located in the popular Perkins Rowe residential/retail area, Bin 77 is a great date place. Serving a wide variety of wines and upscale dishes, it’s a great place to eat and/or drink. The ambience is romantic and sultry(think dim lights, candles, etc). They have a great chacuterie/cheese platter that’s great to share. The service is prompt and professional.

This review is coming from the standpoint of drinks only at this time as food is limited on this side at the establishment. We seem to gravitate more to this side lately and have always say at the bar. Talking about mane three or four trips in. With John and the team on hand it is fun to watch new libations being made, chat when they aren’t too busy and enjoy a nice ambience which is fairly quiet and relaxing. On occasion there is a combo playing some more mellow tunes in the front. Last trip in I had a new cocktail made with Falernum that they were literally getting instruction on from John when we came in. Nice smooth sophisticated concoction with dark rum took me to a little table at a bar in the Abacos to sip it. With Hemingway and Buffett along for the entertainment. Good beer selection as well. Cheese board is something we have had a couple of times at Happy Hour and it is a nice sidekick for the stars of the show, the libations. See y’all soon!

A gem of Perkins Rowe. Bin 77 is a superb establishment that I have been to twice now(great for date night), and I will return here again. Like I just said, this place is great for a romantic date night with that special someone. I really like the setup of Bin 77. They have the primary bar area that is connected to the kitchen area and then the outdoor seating area and finally the secondary bar area across the courtyard. All areas provide a nice ambiance whether you are with a group or one on one with someone trying secure that next date. Start your Bin 77 adventure with one of MANY selections of wine or with a signature mixed drink or just a glass of whiskey, rum, vodka, or beer. The signature drinks are appealing to the eye and delicious on the lips. That being said, let’s move on to mouthwatering delicacies that draw in so many patrons. There are numerous dishes: appetizers, small plates, salads, large plates. I won’t try to dazzle you with all the food options they have but I will explain the deliciousness that I have encountered. I really enjoy salads and on my last visit I ordered the Covey Rise Wild Romaine Salad with pickled shrimp and crispy fried oysters(fried oysters are the bomb) with roasted tomatoes, bacon lardons(big fat juicy pork belly pieces), and green goddess dressing. You just can’t go wrong. I told my wife the next time we go we will close our eyes and point to something on the menu for dinner and probably be 100% satisfied. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They are attentive and will take your picture if needed. If they don’t know something right off the bat they will find the information you are looking for like food and drink parings and availability of specific wines. Be ready to spend some money but keep in mind that anything you order is top notch and completely worth the price. See you there.

Met up with a friend for lunch since I told her that I have never been to this side of the establishment. I’ve always love the Perkins Rowe area, even though parking is kind of crazy at certain hours of the day. Bin 77 used to be The Grapevine, which was known for their fabulous collection of wine choices and delicious food served in an intimate setting. Since Bin 77 has taken over, their management has transformed it to a much more casual environment for a nice business lunch meeting or a semi-casual place to grab lunch in the mist of retail therapy/shopping; but still that intimate fine dinning for an upscale evening. It is such a gorgeous restaurant. :) Clay, our amazing server, was kind enough to help me with some recommendations. In which, I excitingly chose their popular Bin Burger! It wasn’t their burger that made my eyes widen and my tastebuds jump with joy… It was their fabulous fries. Oui! The thin fries were toasted gently in truffle oil and seasoned with a hint of salt. I could have easily ordered another heaping order of fries if my lunch wasn’t so short!

Being from California, I’m of a wine snob. I’ve been coming Bin 77 since it opened and love it. Not only is the wine selection excellent and diverse, the food is innovative and delicious. I feel like I am in a Napa Valley wine bar but with better food. Every time I visit Baton Rouge, it’s a must stop. Kiddos to the owner and the chef for making it such a great experience. If you are looking for a sophisticated but casual wine bistro before or after a movie or just a a night out, I highly recommend it.

Overall just good. Had the duck flatbread. Probably my favorite item on the menu that night. Good flavor and sauce combination. Perfect as delivered to the table and ready to eat. Also probably the best value on the menu. The seared foie gras was amazing… It’s foie gras! Melts in your mouth like butter. But one criticism was that it comes out served cold and solid(almost frozen) disputed the surface being seared. Think frozen butter. But once it warms to room temperature after 10′, it’s great! Ash cured beef belly tartar had good flavor. Interestingly served with all the fixings for beef tartar served a la carte or deconstructed… So the egg, Worcestershire sauce, capers, etc. all separated. Could have been ground a bit more, or a cut of beef with a bit less fat. The sous vide veal cheeks were good, but didn’t really like the black bean casserole thing it was served on. Very dry. Again, everything was good, but something seemed to be «missing» with each dish that could have taken it to the next level.

I just love sidebar, it’s a nice place to go for drinks and grab a quick bite to eat. They have live music on fridays. We ordered the kobe beef sliders which came with 2 slides and truffle chips on the side. Yummy! I’ll be back for sure.

Check out what all the buzz is about at this hip cocktail bar that has quickly emerged in Baton Rouge’s night life scene! Sidebar is a new addition to the expansion of Bin 77. If you know and love his style of cocktail mixology, you will be happy to find the menu has been doctored by master mixologist, himself: John Morris. I have had the pleasure of knowing this cocktail artiste for awhile now and am always impressed by what magical creation he comes up with next. Time and time again, I am blown away by what he pulls together in a glass. During my last visit, he crafted a cocktail tailored for my taste. With gin as my spirit of choice, the drink was made equisitely; it wasn’t too fruity nor flowery, but still refreshing! It also formed that feel-good buzz that you want after every fab drink(wink, wink)! This is a top-notch bar that opens its doors to the adjacent courtyard with plush seating, tables for groups and high tops just right for some post-workday and/or celebratory lounging. There is also an elaborate tapas and small plates menu available, if you want to take a few bites of something. Aaaaah, there is even an upstairs section that is available to rent for a private soirée. Gather your friends or firm up your date night plans to come here! I guarantee that some of your most happiest hours will be spent at Sidebar. Don’t delay any longer because you will be missing out on the fun at this trendy, hot bar in Baton Rouge!

I am absolutely in love with this place. Last night we ordered a 3 cheese plate– you pick the cheese so you can’t go wrong with that. It comes with a feta spread, honey, and an olive mixture. I mixed the feta and honey and it almost tasted like honey butter which is yum. Then we ordered Devils on horse back– I will NEVER come here and not order this !!! Then we got blackened tuna carpaccio, I loved it. It was perfect in my opinion. Next we shared the steak and Gruyère flatbread… got the filet medium rare. Loved every single bite. For my entrée(obviously I was ridiculously hungry) I got the bin burger with the port house cheddar and bacon. Let me just say… I think I just found my new favorite burger & I love the fact that the fries are thin. Service was great ! I ended up getting the bread pudding to go & the Crème Brûlée cheesecake. I liked the cheesecake the best! Hands down one of the best places to eat. The only thing I have tried and didn’t like here was the crab cakes.

It’s a sultry July evening in South Louisiana, what do you want to do? Get thee to Bin 77 immediately, because if you’re anything like me, you probably *need* an extremely cold glass of bubbly right about now. You may even want to take it outside on that gorgeous large patio that is wedged between the restaurant and the bar. And if you’re a hungry vegetarian or vegan? You’re in luck. Chef David will take care of you and by that I mean take great care of you. As in, he won’t merely grill up some squash and peppers either(thank. God.) Also, is anyone else sick of a grilled portobello mushroom being your sole option on a menu because I sure am. I digress. I had a date night to remember a couple weeks ago at Bin 77, at the brilliant recommendation of Baton Rouge’s own Rebecca W. I had been wanting to try this place for a while now and being that NOLA was at the start of a very crowded holiday weekend, my guy and I decided to head out of Dodge and spend the evening in Baton Rouge. Although I didn’t make reservations, we were seated upon arrival at around 7pm. I took one glimpse of the seating outside and was dead set on it, though the interior is quite inviting as well. Our server was extremely friendly/accommodating and as soon as I told him I was vegan(because I wanted the cheese left off the hummus app), he told me that the chef really enjoys whipping something up for just about any dietary restriction. Within minutes, Chef David came over to the table and asked me if there’s anything I don’t like(that would be the aforementioned portobellos, as well as onions and bell peppers) and went off to concoct an app and entrée that were both outstanding. To start, an heirloom tomato salad. Look at that photo! It involved a luscious tomato, plus charred corn and a variety of legumes(yay, protein!), topped with tempura’d(is that a verb?) okra. I swear I could hear a brilliant symphony in my head as I ate this salad.(Actually, the talented female jazz singer playing in the open windows of bar might have been the perfect accompaniment!) What followed was the most delicate of pasta dishes(sorry, I couldn’t hold back from eating it immediately, so pardon the lack of photographic evidence), lightly seasoned and sprinkled with vegetables and herbs. And the bubbly flowed. Need I say more? The abridged version Food — thoroughly divine, service — impeccable(Chef kept making the rounds asking everyone if they were enjoying their food) and atmosphere — romantic without chiché. This night was Perfect(cap intended).

This is the kind of place where I feel I need to dine at weekly to try every delicious item on their menu as it all sounds perfect. However, I sadly have only been here twice in my lifetime, but hey, I’m still young! The cocktails are wonderful, and the food is perfection as it sounds. I found the portions and prices aligned well also. I’ve now been here four times, twice for girls’ night and twice with my husband for date nights, and this place is perfect for both. The atmosphere is gorgeous and romantic, and I truly think you could just tell the server to surprise you and be happy with any single item on the menu he brings you. The problem of course is that I still want to sample ! Oh decisions are so tough! I can say that the charcuterie was an intriguing option that we tried, and I was very impressed with the options and pleased with our tasty decisions. And the Apple Crustad dessert was fantastic and plenty to share! I shall definitely return and so should you! Updated addition: I have now tried multiple items on the menu. The short ribs with corn grits nearly melted in my mouth and same for the two salad options I’ve tried. The tres leches dessert was phenomenal. Truly, I’ve said it already in this review, the food here is absolutely perfection. My favorite restaurant by far.

Joined a friend for a long lunch starting with a Bloody Mary. Delicious, spicy but not too spicy. Ordered the Braised Mississippi Rabbit Confit Tamales which was one tamale with a Saffron-Black Bean Salad with Cilantro-Poblano Cream. This was truly amazing. Such flavor but not your traditional tamale. We also shared the Prince Edward Island Mussels & Little Neck Clams with Fennel & Onion Sofrito, Saffron Fingerlings, Crispy Guanciale, and Ponzi-Pernod Butter Sauce, the Cornmeal Dusted Gulf Oysters, Fried Okra, Cayenne Butter Sauce, Horseradish Crème Fraiche & Soy Glaze, and the Blackened Tuna Carpaccio, Seaweed & Edamame Salad, with Ponzu-Eel BBQ, and Kimchi Purée. All were delicious. I enjoy dining at a restaurant that takes as much care and creativity in preparing a dish as I would at home. This is definitely a place to go if you are particular about your dining out experience. I have been several times now and have yet to be disappointed.

I’ve been here a dozen times and Bin 77 is my fave Bistro bar! John won DIGBR #1 bartender and makes fantastic cocktails! His creations are just delicious and out of this world! He’ll soon be at Sidecar when it opens, but you still have a superstar bartender named Lane to see here. Now, my favorite thing at Bin 77 is the culinary master Chef David! I purposely come on Thursdays to taste his visionary masterpieces. 3-courses for $ 35 is a steal! Considering you will taste the brilliance of flavors, and spices that will take you on a magic carpet to your destination. From braised short ribs, to pork belly, or veal cheek any meat you try will be succculent, melt in your mouth like butter, savory goodness! Even if there is a particular item that you’re not a fan of, try it here. Growing up kimchee was the norm with my mom, but I didn’t like the smell or the spicy flavor. Well, Chef David has changed my palate. That is the magic of his dishes!(I was hesitant of the kimchee purée with the blackened tuna, edamame seaweed salad, but was pleasantly surprised that I liked it!) If you don’t like asparagus, I promise you will like it here. Take an adventure and try it his way, before you right off an ingredient. I’ve had 75% of Bin 77 menu items, they are all delicious! Like I said, I try to come on Thursdays since that is when Chef David creates special 3-course menus, and you get to try dishes that are not on the main menu. $ 35 is a great deal considering you are getting high-quality dishes with fresh ingredients and a touch of magic. I always leave feeling as if I’m a celebrity, because the quality of food, service and ambience makes me feel like a red carpet awaits me!
