I don’t usually like to dog on Taco Cabana because I have had plenty of great memories here but today topped the cake as I was eating my burrito bowl I found a dead bug in my salad and I almost puked myself

Cheap margarita and ok Tex-Mex fast foods make Taco Cabana one of my favorite fall back place to eat if I am in a hurry. If you get hold a coupon from your mail box, then you can have a meal for two for less than $ 10. My daughter and I was in rush to get to Austin From Stafford. By the time we were in Bastrop, it was noon and we were hungry. We saw Taco Cabana and we hopped in and ordered 2 Cabana beef bowls with tap water to drink. The beef was seasoned well and the help yourself condiment bar took the bowls over the top. The bowls were just the right size for lunch. Total bill was less than $ 12 with tax.

Every time I see one of these places I start singing to the tune of «Copacabana»…” At the Taco, Taco Cabana, fajitas in-a your hand-a”… Ahem. Anyway, I haven’t been singing it in a while because there are no TCs near where I live. And that is a shame, because for fast casual TeX Mex it is pretty good. At this location, the high points were: — Friendly and helpful staff — Tasty food with lots of options — Salsa bar(try the Salsa Ranch) — FRESH tortillas! — Margaritas actually have a kick to them Overall, much much better than Tacos Bell or Bueno. Delicioso!

After a long week, hubby and I stopped at TC for beer and nachos on our way home yesterday. Chicken was not to be found, had to ask for beers to be opened, which required cashier to stop leaning on counter. this was not my best experience, usually really enjoy TC

We were driving through Bastrop around 9:30 last night and we were looking for a place to eat. Most of the restaurants were already closed. I used Unilocal to find something that was open. I saw that this Taco Cabana was open but their reviews were terrible. We stopped anyway. We were greeted by the night manager Eddy who had a great big smile on his face. He was soooo pleasant and helpful. He even gave me a little sample of the Carne Guisada because I was asking him how theirs was made. He took our order and within minutes he brought it out to our table instead of just calling out our number. The food was hot and the portions were large. Eddy even came back out to our table to check on us and ask us if we needed anything else. We are so glad we stopped and will definitely stop here again. Thanks Eddy! We really appreciate your effort and positive attitude. That’s something you just don’t see much anymore in a fast food restaurant.

I eat at various TC’s all the time. Food is generally consistent. This one is a different story. Didn’t check reviews before we got here. Should have. Cheese enchilada plate, simple nothing fancy. Ordered mine with 2. thought they only gave me one. Nope it was 2, the were so empty of cheese that they looked like one enchilada. The tortillas used for the enchiladas must have been old, they were really tough, and like I said had no cheese to very little inside. what a disappointment, glad this one is out of my way.

Their Street Taco is a joke. I can barely see the taco. They are so tiny. I don’t know what kind of meat they put in it. I have doubt if it is meat at all. There is always more employee than customer in this location. They all standing around doing nothing. Table next to us left uncleanned the whole time we were there. Cashier seems to be on some kind of influence. She is clueless. We have to keep on repeating what we want and keep on correcting her.

I will rarely check a review for fast food or chain restaurants, especially when it is just for a lunch pit stop… but I regret not checking the review for this Taco Cabana before stopping. I didn’t have the same issue that everyone else complained about(slow service) and my food was largely decent, but my major issue was with the drinks. They were out of unsweetened tea(boo!) and the sweet tea(yuck) tasted somewhat chemical on top of being uncovered and just open to the surroundings. I then tried the lemonade from the soda machine and it was also somewhat chemical-tasting. The root beer tasted fine, but that was likely just masking an underlying problem with the water. Lastly, many of the tables needed cleaning and it seemed like this was a very low priority for the staff. Overall, no bueno.

On a Friday night at 7:00PM on the way to Houston with 2 small kids, we order chicken tacos, quesadillas, etc… About 20 minutes into our wait time for our«fast food» an employee mumbled something to the effect that they were OUTOFCHICKEN!!! I asked to speak to a «manager» haha that was a joke too. Should have gone to Chilis — now we know! We hardly ever eat fast food to begin with– now we won’t make that mistake again next time we travel through Bastrop

Three words… Don’t Eat There!!! We went to the drive thru and ordered chips and queso– the person was very unfriendly taking our order. The queso was leaking out of the container because it was thrown in the bag upside down. The queso looked like water. I took a video If the owner wants to see how watery it is. That’s a waste of our time and money! We are here once before over a year ago and my shrimp quesadilla was gross– we were hesitant to go here again … Instincts were correct.

Waited 25 minutes for our order. The tea containers were uncovered. Told the cashier. We were in the restaurant almost an hour. When we left, they were still uncovered. Oh, guess I should mention that two flies were crawling inside the unsweetened tea container. Gee-ross. We haven’t been here in almost a year because of such nastiness and poor service. Guess we will try it again in mid-2013… definitely not before.

Had a «buy 1 get one for $ 1» coupon for 2-enchilada dinners, so decided to go this evening. Well, the complimentary flour tortillas that accompanied the dinners were the only thing worth eating. Otherwise, the beans and rice were tasteless and nowhere near the correct texture(rice was cold/clumpy/chewy, refried beans were a mixture of whole and runny), and the enchiladas were sloppily put together. I had chicken enchiladas and the chunks of chicken in them were slimy and hard to cut. My husband had beef enchiladas in which the filling was so watery that his whole plate was turned into a sort of soup. Yes, I know it’s a chain restaurant and sort of fast-food. However, I very rarely eat at any fast-food restaurants, and I’ve been a routine defender of Taco Cabana as a Texas chain that actually has good food, so this was a major disappointment. Hopefully this was just an off night for the Bastrop Taco Cabana.
