Wow, what a dive. It was a cheap place to stay in every sense of that word. This hotel is old and run down. We had to jiggle the door to get it to a point where we could lock it. There’s no elevator, so you have to lug your bags upstairs if you get a room on the second level. And the free breakfast consisted of two types of cereal, the usual«make your own» waffle stuff, prepackaged pastries and coffee. There was no tea and not much selection in general. On the positive side, we stayed in several hotels during our trip to Texas and this one had one of the largest rooms of the bunch. It also came with both a fridge and a microwave which is a huge plus in my book. And like I said, it’s cheap. It cost us half the price to stay here that we’d been paying in other hotels. And though everything was pretty run down, I have to admit that the room was clean. … Oh, and the wifi worked like a charm. That’s another thing that was better here than many of the other hotels we were in, but I’m guessing that’s in large part because the kind of clientele that this hotel serves probably doesn’t hop online all that often. There is a pool, but we didn’t have time to check it out. I only stayed in this hotel because everything anywhere near Austin was full thanks to SXSW. While I’ve experienced better, I have to say that for the money, this is a pretty decent deal. Just be prepared to jiggle the door if you want to lock it. And bring your own breakfast.
