I have been taking my elderly parents to Dr Porter since November. They both have multiple medical problems and as a nurse attend every appointment with them. The office staff has always been helpful. Dr Porters assessment always includes and opportunity for them to ask questions and he takes the time to explain things to them until they not just I understand. He has always asked them the right questions as well to make me realize he has a good understanding of their complex issues. Highly recommend.

I went to see this doctor on three different occasions for various problems ranging from back pain to depression, and it was always very easy to get an appointment within a day of calling. Now I know why. I’ve never encountered a doc I’d describe as criminally negligent, let this one be the first. First, after having a variety of tests done including bloodwork and a mammogram and finding out that the results were abnormal, it was IMPOSSIBLE to get a return phone call from this doctor to discuss the next step despite repeated attempts to call and leave a message. Even a call to inquire about the results of the tests yielded absolutely no response! Secondly, he prescribed a medication with what I later found out, had some very disturbing withdrawal symptoms when you eventually discontinue using it. I never would have started the medication if I knew what would happen when I stopped and yet not a word of warning from him about it. I called to find out what to do and how long to expect to experience the withdrawal symptoms and of course never received a call back. Then I called to make an appointment to discuss it in person and after making an appointment and waiting 2 days, received a message on my machine the evening before the appointment telling me it was canceled and that the doctor was dismissing me from his practice! What are you talking about!!! So, heaven forbid you have any problems or questions or even want to be prescribed a safe medication. This is not your man! But then man would not be the best word to describe him, because he couldn’t be a man and even call me himself to explain dismissing me. I’d hesitate to even call him doctor!
