Jiffy Lube

Jiffy Lube is becoming notorious for screwing up oil pan drain plugs. Don’t bring your Volkswagen to Jiffy Lube, they will try to do the job and if they mess something up they will then blame it on the last guy who performed your oil change because apparently they stripped the plug. Little does Jiffy Lube know, the last guy who changed my oil is a family friend who owns Germankraft in Bastrop with decades of experience: Jiffy did the dirty deed of «screwing» my plug up. They lied straight to my face so smoothly, maybe they should get a job in acting instead of simple oil changes. This place is a JOKE.

My letter to Jiffy Lube:
I am officially a long-​time FORMER customer. I went to your Bastrop location to find out if I needed an oil change. You see, my wife is about to go on a 6 hr trip to South Texas to see her dad and I wanted to make sure that everything with her car is up to date and working properly.
The last time we went in for an oil change your people didn’t set the car’s computer back to zero so the car was telling us we needed an oil change when we just had one.
You did leave a sticker in the windshield BUT the number seemed to be off as it read, 65,987 and my odometer reads 57K +/​-​.
This morning at about 8:30 I pulled into your service drive just to find out if I needed an oil change or not. I asked them NOT to look at the sticker but rather to look at the computer to see when I had my last oil change. I told the young man who took my plate number down that I would pull around to the front so I didn’t block the drive. FYI, they were servicing 2 vehicles at the time.
When I pulled around to the front and went inside I was told that it would be 30 minutes to get the information. I said, «30 minutes just to find out if I need an oil change or not?» and Chuck, who was standing in front of a computer said, «yes, we have these customers we’re trying to take care of»…I said, «I understand. I’m not asking you to change my oil, I’m just trying to find out if it needs to be changed or not.»
I was trying to determine if I needed an oil change because I was trying to schedule another service with the Chevy dealership and only wanted to know so I could coordinate the two events. I went inside to see if I could find a manager but apparently Chuck is your manager.
I started walking to my car but decided to let Chuck know how unhappy I was with the way he treated me so I turned around walked back into your bay and told Chuck and everyone else that I’d been coming to Jiffy lube for a long time now and that I would NEVER set foot on the property again. Chuck turned around long enough to salute me and I left.
You guys have always been great. Well, except for the time you didn’t tighten the oil pan nut and/​or spilled oil all over my truck engine and it leaked all over the drive way. But even then, your guy came to my neighbor’s house to clean it up. LMAO, yes, you read that right. You guys caused an oil spill and your manager said he’d come clean up my driveway. Only problem was, he was across the street 2 houses over, cleaning up my neighbor’s driveway when I walked out to check on him.
So, I think you can see why I wanted to have you check your computers to see if I needed an oil change or not.

The service is ok but today I was next door getting new tires and called jiffy lube to ask if I could get on their list for a new inspection sticker and they said the car must be in the parking lot before they could put on their list with a normal waiting time of 1 to 3 hrs this is an incredible disrespect for their customers time I went somewhere else as I will for every thing in the future. Here it is 8 months later and I decided to give them one more chance as I was desperate and thought maybe they got a new manager or something. I needed an oil change & inspection sticker and knew their inspector was not always there. So I tried for a solid hour to call and the line was busy the entire time. So I gave up and went somewhere else. How do you guys stay in business?

Great Service– Eric handled my transaction and I am very pleased. He was professional, courteous and the service was completed quickly.

Don’t go here. Turn around and go somewhere else. It took over two hours to change my oil with at least three techs on duty and no other cars in the bay. Checking in was a nightmare: I’m pretty sure the person checking me in was drunk. She put me in the system as having an ’84 Chevy Blazer, which is close since I drive a 2013 Ford Escape, but after I pointed the error out she got me down for the right car. The tech did not put the skid plate on tightly and frankly, I’m not convinced they topped off fluids like they do at the other high-​functioning franchise locations. Oh, and they didn’t air up my tires even after I specifically asked them to. The only thing they did according to plan was charge me the full amount. At least I left with the right car?

Five stars to the Jiffy Lube guys last weekend. It was late in the day. The sky was overcast, the wind was picking up, and it looked like a big storm was blowing in. I, of course, made the poor decision that it was a perfect time to get my not-​fancy Jeep convertible (!) inspected. When I arrived at Jiffy Lube I realized that the guys were working short handed which probably also meant they were tired. That did not slow them down! They worked fast, got me home before it rained, and did it all with big smiles. Five stars! Thanks Jiffy Lube guys!!! :-)

Lemurs with only broken beer bottles for tools could not have done a worse job changing the oil in our car.
The time passed so slowly I drank myself into a stupor next door (that is for another review).
And then, nearly finished … they forgot to put the skid plate back on.
It’s middle-​class entitlement, I know, but I do want to leave with all parts of the car I came in with.

Went in to get an oil change and an inspection. First off, my car is 10 years old, so it isn’t in pristine condition underneath. I get it, but apparently they do not. As I was waiting in the lobby, I heard my horn blow for the inspection. Being again a 10 year old car, the horn is not as loud as it used to be, but it works. I heard some chatter in the garage concerning the horn and if it needed to be louder to pass.
Next, they find that my power steering reservoir is a little low, (they said it was empty which was false, it still registered on the dipstick) and that the bottom of the car was CAKED with dried fluid (again false) They said they would not pass the vehicle in this condition.
I am extremely disappointed that I went there. I usually do my own maintenance on my vehicles and the day before I completely changed out the radiator in this car. The fluid that they seen underneath the car was antifreeze and a little transmission fluid from the radiator change out. That explanation didn’t make a difference, and they still wouldn’t pass the inspection.
After seeing how frustrated I was they did not charge me for the inspection and I told them to just pull it out of the garage and I would do the oil myself.
Bottom line, I wouldn’t trust ANY of these jackasses that work there to do maintenance on my vehicles. They are just a bunch of flunkies on a power trip!!!

I am changing my review because I went in today and they were AWESOME. The people working were different than the last times I went. They were helpful, nice, and quoted me the correct time. Which was LESS THAN 10 MINUTES!!!
Seriously, it was so fast and they were so efficient.
Update: The district manager called me not long after I posted this review. He asked what happened this morning, and wanted to make it right. He assured me the employees there will get more training and discussion on how to communicate and treat customers. I am impressed with his willingness to reach out and listen to me about my experience, and I will go back again to give them one more try! That is GREAT customer service and I hope he can teach his employees something! Moving my rating up to a 3– pending my next experience.
I got my oil changed for the 2^nd time here. The first time, no problems it was great and took about 25 minutes.
Today however, I went first thing in the morning and they weren’t busy. The guy who greeted me was annoyingly slow at taking my information and told me it would be 30 minutes, maybe 45 at the most. I saw they started working on my car within 5 minutes of being there. I took over an HOUR! No one even came in to let me know or check that I had the time for them to be slow and make me wait almost double the time they quoted me. I have never had such a horribly slow oil change. THEN, while I was waiting I was contending with about 10 different bugs and beetles crawling around on the floor! GROSS! AND THEN, they didn’t even change the damn sticker. I specifically mentioned to the slow ass guy at the check in to change it because that’s what I rely on. Terribly slow, misquoted service time, gross lobby, and didn’t even do everything they are supposed to. I will NOT be going back here.

If I could have given this place no stars I would have. Their service is absolutely terrible, they’re ignorant, and unprofessional. Their service manager Amanda, doesn’t know how to do her job and isn’t educated on what is she is exactly supposed to know so that she could actually be competent at her job. I had three bad experiences in a row here, all within several weeks of each other. Definitely would recommend Haveline or Bernards over this place. I will certainly be letting the folks I know that love around here to find a new place to do business with.

RECEIPT SHOWED SERVICES THAT WERE NOT ACTUALLY PERFORMED
I would have given these folks zero stars, except that I complained via email and received two phone calls from their corporate office within 24 hours.
In short, the receipt showed that a number of things (tire pressure, fluid topped-​off, floors, vacuumed, window exteriors cleaned, and power steering fluid) were checked, when in fact they were not. Yup, the receipt said they performed service when they actually did not. They also said the air filter needed to be replaced. Guess, what. It didn’t need to be replaced.
You know, I don’t really mind about the windows not being cleaned or the floor being vacuumed. But, it really hacks me off that they fibbed.
Corporate said they would «take care of things». I will go back in 5,000 miles for an oil change. IF things improve, I’ll update the review.

Ok, I hardly EVER write a review for a non food related establishment.
But I had a surprisingly good experience here.
The technician noticed that the faceplate on my radio was disconnected and that the radio itself was sliding around in the housing. He asked me how long it had been like that, and I told him since I was not handy, it had been like this for a year or more.
This awesome guy (I know I should know his name, but I forgot… ADD to blame) fixed my radio, installed the faceplate properly and made my car whole again :)
He did not ask for a penny (and although I may have forgotten his name, I did not forget to tip the guy :)
Now if only Jiffy Lube would pick up on this story of «Surprise and Delight» and figure out a way to ensure that it is woven into their training — then we would ALL be Jiffy Lube Customers!

I’ll first explain why they are not getting a 1 star rating after the horrible service and explain why I raised them to 3 stars because of their resolution to the problem.
Last May I asked to add a tire rotation to my lube oil change. I slowly rolled away from JL and didn’t hear anything right away. As I turned onto the main road and began accelerating up to 25 then 30 mph, the sound and vibration of one my tires was like a wheel was wanting to fall off. I pulled over and sure enough my right rear tire was not on tight. I could make it move slightly with my foot if I pushed hard.
My 3 yr old girl was with me at the time in the back seat and this made me even more furious that JL released me with this problem. I drove 5 mph back to JL having to make 2 U-​turns, one on hwy 71 that upset a lot of drivers. I pulled into JL, took my daughter out of the car and demanded to see the manager. I tore up the manager and he quickly put my car in his tire bay and somehow corrected it. He apologized profusely and said that the tire guy was new.
Fast Forward to this March 2010. I get a flat on my right rear tire. I pull over and start setting up to put my spare on. All of my lug bolts are on tight as expected, except one. Instead of putting the wrench on and then having to stuggle to break it free, I simply put the wrench on this one lug and it spun loose with just the weight of the handle. I pulled the lug bolt out of the hole and the threads were completely stripped. What’s worse is that the female threads are stripped as well. This is the tire that new JL employee handled in May and apparently he did not thread the lug bolt in by hand before putting his impact wrench on it.
I was spitting mad and ready to flame them on Unilocal.I approached JL and showed them the bolt. The manager was Steve and I went through a pretty severe cross examination in their waiting room. Just proving I was even a customer was difficult as they could not find any of my records in their system. Fortunately I remembered keeping a receipt of one of my oil changes and was able to show them. Miraculously they were able to see me in the database.
Once Steve admitted that they messed up, everything changed. He promised to pay for the repair. I asked for that in writing, and he did. He got my estimate and sent it off to their warranty company. As promised, in 2 weeks I was able to pick up the check, which I did this morning.
I’m still furious at the initial mistake, but have to admit that they did try to make amends so I’m willing to raise them up from 1 star to 3 stars.
