Established in 1979 by Carla and Doug Engle, we opened a small coffee shop and built on over the years. We now have a fully stocked bar and two dining rooms, most seating overlooks Lake Superior and Keweenaw Bay. Free WIFI. Our cozy motel is pet-​friendly.

In 1979, Doug and Carla Engle fell in love with Lake Superior and moved 500 miles away from family and friends to open a coffee shop and motel. Both love to cook, and business grew quickly with good old-​fashioned home cooking. We are one of the few restaurants in the Upper Peninsula who have not changed owners or management since we opened. We expanded in 2014 and opened Carla’s Cozy Inn in Nestoria, on US Hwy 41, 30 miles SE of Carla’s in Keweenaw Bay/​Baraga. The Cozy is a bar and grill with great food, also!
