Downtowner Bar & Grill

While in the dells I was told that Munks is the place to try for a burger but I wanted to veer off the beaten path. I don’t mind the popular hot spots but I like to getting into the neighborhood places that the locals go to. While in the dells I was looking for something away from the tourist traps and found this place.
This is your typical Wi dive bar with the boring draft beers and nothing exotic in the coolers but Jamison was on the shelf. I Posted pictures. I wanted a couple drinks and a burger and to relax at a local hang out. I asked if I could get a rare cheese burger and the bar tender said yes.
I order the bacon cheese burger rare. When it was done I noticed that it looked very fresh and I could see that the juices had dripped on the wax paper. Frozen patties don’t do that so I was intrigued about my burger. The burger had a nice toasted bun, beef patty, two slices of cheese and two sliced of bacon.
When I took the first bite I noticed juicy beef, crisp bacon just off the grill and cheese on that toasted bun cooked rare. This was a great fresh cooked cheese burger and in my top 3 or 4. This was a dam good cheese burger this place puts out. When I was done I asked if that was a frozen patty and about the good bacon and I was told that it’s fresh beef and the bacon is cooked with the patty for my order.
Bottom line is that this place has one fantastic bacon cheese burger and I wish it was in my neighborhood, job well done.

Unbelievable Burger — fresh ground beef from a local butcher shop (you know what that means … trimmings from all the good stuff that the butchers have worked on all day long) plus a bakery fresh bun from the bakery down the street. The woman behind the bar said that this was her second day on the job — she prepared our lunch — YOU BETTER KEEP HER !
This place was everything I remember about a Wisconsin Local bar — the regulars lined up at the bar … the posters … the gaming square for the upcoming Packer season … and the juke box. ready to receive (I almost said -«your quarters» — that’s how old I am) your crisp dollar bills …
One word for a week-​day luncheon while on vacation — «OUTSTANDING!»

Good local bar. Few beer choices, but full bar. The highlight is that they get their beef fresh from the local meat market and hand patty their burgers.
