Clark Gallery is a regional gallery that also represents artists on the National level. Clark Gallery represents an exclusive list of represented artists as well as one-​of-​a-​kind paintings from 17th century to the present.

History

Established in 2001.

Clark Gallery was started in 2001 by owner, Chris Clark. After working in galleries in both New York, NY and Aspen, Co, he moved back to start his own gallery in Banner Elk. Chris is also a painter himself.

Chris Clark studied art and art history at Appalachian State University from 1981 – 1986. He did an internship in Newport, Rhode Island for Public History in 1986. Chris has studied at the Art Students League in New York, New York, and continues to take courses to this day. In 1990 Chris moved to Aspen, Colorado where he worked the New York based lifestyle store, Zona. He eventually became the store manager and a buyer for the «found objects» department. While in Aspen, Chris resided at the famous, «Magic Mushroom House,» owned by Peter Findlay of Findlay Gallery in New York. It was here that Chris had the incredible opportunity to meet artists that he had always studied and admired, including Jennifer Bartlett, Ross Bleckner, and Jeanne-​Claude Christo. Chris moved back to North Carolina and opened Clark Gallery in 2001.
