The cake tasted delicious! This place has been around forever and the quality of the cake shows it. However, they forgot my cake topper! I hand delivered it, as requested, with the ribbon to go around the cake, weeks before my wedding. The ribbon was on the cake but no topper. I paid over $ 40 for the topper to go with my theme and was extremely disappointed when I looked at my cake, as it was missing and the cake looked bare. Yes, we had designs on the side but the top looked naked. I wouldn’t say don’t go here, but be very careful when giving them items, maybe have someone from the bridal party bring it separately. Now I have pictures with random flowers on my cake instead of the fun topper that I bought. Definitely a bummer.

Hands down the best! So so so glad we didn’t buy a house on Woodlea. I’d be rolling down the hill everyday to visit this place. Anything and everything I have ever gotten here has been a slice of heaven! My go to birthday cake is the strawberry shortcake and the breakfast of champions is the cheese Danish!!! Go there now!

In the days where it’s hard to find an old fashioned Mom and Pop’s bakery, esp. in the inner city, it’s nice to see that this place is still open and has stood the test of time. Walking in the store, I reminisce of old bakeries in Bmore that had the lower glass show cases — where the 1st thing you see are simply-made strawberry shortcakes, lemon meringue pies, smear case and peach cake(when in season). I’m glad that there’s still a place Bmorians can go to get a dozen donuts that you can tell are freshly made(in house) and are the simple, but yummy assortments like you hopefully had the pleasure of experiencing while growing up. While I don’t really eat this stuff(I spent too many yrs as a kid working in a bakery like this myself), I like that I can run in an get regular favs to grab quick and take to my Dad who still loves this stuff and speaks to his sweet tooth. The ladies that run the counter are from the area and give great service with a smile… and if you come in the shop during the time where a regular may walk in, you may catch a fierce(but respectful) debate about politics, local news, things going on in Bmore, etc. While nothing fancy, this place can still warm your heart with the feel of regular, classic, home-style bakery items that are tried and true… and sassy service given with a smile. Continue to patronize this local gem. It would be a shame to let a bakery, that’s one of the last of its kind in the area, go out of business. You do get this kind of quality bakery items at Dunkin Donuts and such.

Love it! Best strawberry shortcake(really cake not sponge cake stuff) you will ever have! All is good there… donuts, pies, pastries, dinner rolls. We have gotten several birthday cakes and they are delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Big menu, plenty available if you just walk-in. Easy to call and order as well. A real bakery! We are lucky to have it still here.

I wanted to surprise my coworker’s so I stopped in on my way to work. I got the Danish, and when I say delicious, fresh, and the selection was to die for. I went back after work, to get the strawberry shortcake, there is no other place to go for strawberry shortcake but here!!! I might as well add the before the week ended, I was there another morning for more Danish. Yes a must visit.

If this place where in Hong Kong or pretty much any city in Japan with their marshmallow doughnut the line out the door would be three blocks long.

I can now vouch for their pie and(Zeke’s) coffee, as I visited on Pi Day(3÷14÷15), literally packed my fork and tucked in to a coconut cream pie at 9:23:56AM at a handy table. The pecan pie was good, too, and finally inspired me to Wiki what the filling is(corn syrup!), though I did manage to restrain myself from eating it for another day.

If you’re looking for cakes that will make you quake in your jimmy choos then look know further, the woodlea bakery is the hottest spot in Baltimore. opened in 2017 by nymphomaniac baker«the pilsberry hoe boy» this place is a sweet dream wrapped in a homeless mans wet dream. This place has everything, chocolate covered mice, a little drummer boy, and ms trunchble from the documentary Matilda forcing fat kids to eat chocolate cake. If you don’t go into a sugar coma from the delicious treats, you’ll go into a real coma from the stroke inducing strobe lights.

I had a tasting scheduled for my wedding. After booking the appointment over two weeks in advance, I was called the day before my tasting and told they were too busy preparing for other weddings to see me and I quote«since your wedding isn’t until 2015 we had to cut it somewhere». I explained that I am planning my wedding from a distance so though my wedding isn’t until later, I had scheduled a series of tastings and visits for that weekend. I opted to go to the Bel Air location. When I arrived, they had a sandwich tray with slices of cake. On top was a pile of grocery store paper napkins and three plastic forks. They were«able» to provide samples of the cake I wanted to taste as they only offer what«most brides» order. When I asked about the cream filling what it tastes like, etc. I was told several times that the only examples they had in the store was in two donuts they had left. Of course the donuts were never offered so I can only assume they wanted us to buy to sample there«cream filling» for their cake. On top of all of that, the cake was not very good. I hear they are well known and are supposed to be inexpensive, but after all the add ons, your better off going with a cake that tastes half way decent for a bit more money. Needless to say I will NEVER go back. To rude for their own product.

I needed A LOT(to me) of cookies, like 15 – 20 dozen, for an upcoming customer appreciation event. However, I wanted good cookies, not just the standard store bought meh. So after reading the reviews of this bakery, I thought I would stop in and try their cookies, hopefully placing an order as well. Except for a few specialty cookies, all they had were cookies in 1 lb bags. I could deal with that. I asked the clerk if they had any individual cookies for sale, as I wanted to TRY the cookies before I bought any. I didn’t want a free cookie – I wanted to buy a cookie! She said no, the only way she could sell them was as a 1 lb bag. I asked again, was there any way I could buy A cookie. Again she told me I could buy a pound of cookies. Then she looked away from me and ignored me, giving me the«I don’t care what you do now, as long as you just leave» body language. This woman never smiled, never said she was sorry. All she could give me was a kiss my ass and get out of my face body language. I did just that. I left. Regardless of how good anything looked in the show case, I’ll never go back to this bakery again. I have no idea how the cookies taste. And now I don’t care. An old-fashioned bakery such as this should be able to let me try a cookie, or sell me a cookie, so I can know if I want to buy MORE of their cookies. Maybe I’m under a bad astrological sign or something, but customer service experiences like this are becoming more and more common for me.

Best donuts in the city, at least on the east side. Their peach cake is out of this world, and their small desserts are fantastic.

So dunkin donuts doesn’t really cut it for me when I set out for donuts and pastries. I did a search in the area for a decent bakery and found Woodlea. I stopped in this morning and what a find! Donuts, fritters, horns, pastries, pies, cakes, puffs, they have it all. I picked up a pecan pie that looked phenomenal, a cream horn, and a dozen donuts including an apple fritter. Delicious glazed goodness. This is not a fancy French patisserie, this IS a 4th generation family owned local American bakery that is classic and welcoming. The only thing sweeter than the glazing on the donuts is the owner who was very nice and charming. We had a nice conversation as I piled on treats. Btw, for the price, you get more than what you pay for! There are many more treats to try here like the cookies, pastries, cakes, and coffee. I shall return!

This is the type of food I used to be able to eat. It is industrial-grade fat laden sugar. Most people who eat at McDonalds will absolutely love it. I’m not used to it any more. I mostly eat food prepared at home with butter, olive oil, cane sugar. I’m spoiled, and I know it.

(06/09/2012) Have not been to the bakery itself, but have had a few of their cupcake cakes at various parties. The decorated cakes were well-recieved, colorful(kind of unnaturally so) and festive. The yellow cupcakes were very sweet, medium, even crumbed, moist, vanilla-y; buttercream was thick and sugary. The flavors and visuals are not subtle, but if that’s what you’re going for, this is your place.

Only 4 out of 5 b/c some treats are better than others. BUT it is so affordable that you can buy a whole trough and figure out what your favorites are. I’ve been craving their donuts for awhile now and finally gave in and bought a dozen. The line was stretching toward the door on a Saturday late morning. Everyone was buying in bulk. My favorite donut is the unglazed yeast chocolate-frosted. So so so good. My gf’s fave is the chocolate-frosted custard-filled. And the smell when you walk in — :) :) Give them a try. They now allow credit card payments for $ 10 or more.

Plain and simple the best peach cake… The slices are fresh and the cake is delicious. Go now… as it only lasts while peaches are in season. Served at a dinner party and everyone loved it!
