My friend and I ordered take-out and clearly specified that I have a shellfish allergy and would need my sushi prepared and packaged separately from the other rolls. After waiting 40 minutes for the food, we picked it up and everything was packaged in the same container. I have ordered from several sushi restaurants in Baltimore and have never had this issue. I will not be returning, as I cannot trust this restaurant to prepare my food safely.

When a restaurant’s name implies its specialty, you expect them to be exceptional at that one thing. Alas, I think my experiences at other sushi restaurants have spoiled me because this place leaves much to be desired. I stopped by on a Saturday night around 9:30PM and the place was pretty dead. We grabbed seats at the bar and were immediately attended by the bartender who handed us menus and took our drink orders. I decided to opt for the dragon sushi roll, which was prepared and delivered promptly. While the presentation was lovely, the roll itself was loaded down with so much sauce and other concoctions that I couldn’t even taste the fish itself(and that’s concerning when you’re dealing with raw fish). On the bright side, the staff was extremely prompt and friendly. I don’t think I’ll go out of my way to grant another visit to The Sushi Place but wouldn’t completely object to the idea either.

We ordered delivery– the woman taking our order was very attentive and the delivery service was very fast. However, the food was not good. The tempura, gyoza and teriyaki chicken in our bento boxes were cold. The chicken was pretty flavorless and dry. It did not look or taste like it had been freshly prepared. The miso soup that came with our meal was pretty good. Overall, not the worst, but not the best. Kind of on the pricey side for not being terribly fresh or flavorful.

Food is not Japanese. I’m so disappointed with the food & particularly the service and ambiance. I stepped in for a quick lunch and the whole place was run and serviced by non-Asian … staff, which is absolutely fine, but the food and service was far from Japanese hospitality and style. The place is set up like a strange lounge. Very slow service. They’d rather chat amongst themselves at the bar and curse and talk about women. I’m in shock at this place and they need new management. PS: caution! This place uses INSTANT ramen. I mean, Chicken flavored Ramen for .50 $ at Safeway. Ugh!

Well, Lets just say this was interesting. Came for work lunch, walked in at 1 and the the place was empty. There was a middle aged white guy and he helped seat us and seemed to be in charge(he also helped delivery food and drinks to our table). There were 2 black chicks that were dressed as if they we going to the park to hang out. Short jean shorts, tank tops and long sleeve flannel tied around their waist. Im confused. Im not asking for uniforms but at least some sort of unity through out the crew. Orders were taken by one of the ladies we all ordered a variety of things. I don’t do seafood and I don’t do Sushi. SO I order the spicy chicken ramen bowl along to the chicken gyoza too split with the table. My food was awesome, seriously no complaints. The bowel of ramen was huge with the prefect amount of heat to the broth. I ended up taking some home just too much to eat. 2 of our crew ordered the Bento boxes they were not really excited about their food, I mean it was plenty of food. But they were both underwhelmed with the taste and seasonings. The other one ordered some sort of soft shelled crab dish and he was in love with it. So it seems to be hit or miss with the food. I will go back since it right around the corner from my job. I cant wait to check out the HH hopefully they have some great deals. One other thing was the wait for our food was extremely long for us to have literally been the only customers in the place. Also we had to constantly ask for refills on our drinks. That was extremely frustrating. My food was good(The Spicy Chicken Ramen), but my service could have been a lot better. I would hate to see a busy service time.

I was in a hurry and my girlfriend wanted sushi, so we got some to go. They were pretty quick in making the sushi. We ordered the crunchy salmon roll and the California roll. It was the nastiest sushi I have ever tasted. I didn’t see a single Asian in the restraunt. The staff appeared to be all black. If you dine in, automatic gratuity is added to your bill. Probably because the sushi is gross and service is sub par. There was an angry patron when I was there. I had to ask for water as well. I would not recommend the sushi place for any lover of sushi.

Pass it by. — Sake came out with black specs in the glass, not sure if i drank any of the substance. — White Tuna Nigiri should not be so hard to chew. Could not even bite through. — The atmosphere is like a dance club with one Japanese chef trying to make sushi. Won’t be eating here again.

Had food delivered to work. The shrimp tempura was soggy and the spicy tuna had no taste whatsoever. Will not be ordering from here again. Definitely not worth the money. Next time I’ll just take an actual lunch break and drive to Sticky Rice.

Ummm wow where do I start?!? I didn’t have high expectations at all going into this place. The reviews were pretty low and it kinda seemed like a hole in the wall walking past it but I thought I would give it a chance since I got a pretty good recommendation from the DJ. When we first got there it was pretty empty, the music was good and the servers all seemed to check on us(probably because it was empty). Once the first DJ left the booth it all went down hill from there. Before I get into the bad I will say there were two things I enjoyed(1) the first DJ and(2) the hookah. Now on to the bad. (1) The Bathrooms were disgusting! I went into a stall that wouldn’t lock properly, the toilet didn’t flush, there was some substance on the floor and there was no paper towels or soap! Im not sure how a restaurant(I didnt dare try the food) would get away with having such a nasty bathroom. I left the establishment to use the bathroom anytime after that. I’d rather go in an alley way then go in that bathroom again. (2) The second DJ apparently didn’t know(or wasn’t told) how to work the equipment as there were random long pauses in the music. (3) Once the bar started to fill up our waitress started to forget about her female clients. I only say this because she mentioned that she couldn’t serve alcohol to our table but I witnessed her serve it to about three other tables that just so happen to be all males. when questioned about it she made excuses and disappeared… At one point in the night I started to get the attention of every wait staff member that walked passed our table since one of the people at our table had only been served one of the three drinks she ordered that night. When complaining about the service to the manager he seemed to not care at all and thats when i decided that this is a place I will NEVER return to! (4) paying my bill was about as hard as getting the waitress to wait on us! I had to flag down multiple people and someone(from our table) even had to get up to find the waitress in order to bring the bill. in order to pay it I had to go to the bar and have them run my card because once she dropped off the bill I never saw her again. This place is a decent concept and could do better with some proper management, training, staff and training. but too bad i’ll never know because I can guarantee I will not be back.

Geisha sushi was closed and some random person told is there was this place around the corner. Looked at the menu from outside and it looked decent. Went in and looked like a club. We were the only dining customers and there were a few guys drinking. After we sat down, the music blasted all of a sudden. Sushi was actually good, but I wouldn’t go there again because of the environment. Maybe carry out.

Other then being able to get hookah, sushi, and a drink in the same place. This place has bad service. The bartenders are friendly but are SLOW, NONATTENTIVE, i ask for a drink 5 times before i got one mind u the place only had 10 peep in it. A old friend walked in two hrs after me and shook hands. Next think i know after asking for my bill 5 times the bartender took it upon his self to combine is parties bill with mine and said«i dont know who ordered the hookah but here is the bill. Wow just because well enough said place has potential

(4÷17÷2014) We ordered for delivery to work for lunch, timing was as promised, approx. 40 mins(give or take the 5 or 10 minutes for the stoned/unobservant delivery guy to figure out he was standing at the wrong place, this is at State Center, you better believe there’s no mistaking the garage for the front door). I had the Spam Musubi(inedible, bitter), Bonito Salmon Roll, Shogun Assassin. Rolls were expensive for the size(ordinary diameter 6 – 8 pieces), fish was not fresh(very fishy smelling and tasting). Rice was stone cold, hard and chewy(def not fresh). I’m a sushi fiend, I choked down about half of what I ordered and actually threw away the rest, a waste of $ 30 and the poor fish who gave their lives up to be so ignominiously remembered.

We were pretty excited to have another sushi place in the neighborhood, and couldn’t wait to try The Sushi Place. We visited this place around 6pm on a Monday. When we walked in, the first thing I said to my husband was«is this a club?» There is a mural that I think is supposed to be Japanese as you walk in the door, but that’s about as ethnic as it gets. The focal point is the giant bar, and unless you look for it, you wont even notice the sushi bar that is tucked away in the back. The lights are blue and red and laser like, with hip hop and club music that is THROBBING throughout the place. I didn’t let this deter me though, because who doesn’t like a little Jay Z with their sushi?! We sat and were immediately greeted, given menus, and served drinks. The staff all seemed really happy and enjoyed being there, which if you’ve ever eaten out in Baltimore you know genuinely happy servers can be hard to find. We waited foreverrrrr to order our food. There was a group of girls(who really didn’t even look old enough to be drinking, but whatever) who were completely monopolizing the all male staff. They weren’t eating, only drinking and taking selfies. The guys were completely consumed by these girls, which really wouldn’t have mattered much to me had I not gone in there with the intentions of actually eating. When we were finally able to order the food came out rather quickly. The sushi chef hidden in the corner gets his job done quickly. We ordered a spicy tuna, spicy salmon, Marilyn Monroll, and Feelin’ Crabby tapas. The spicy rolls were spicy rolls. There was nothing spectacular about them, but there was nothing terrible either. I would eat these again, for sure. The Marilyn Monroll was not at all what I expected. Even upon first glance when it came out to us, it was beautiful and I was convinced I was in for a treat. I was wrong. The shrimp tempura tasted like absolutely nothing, and the tuna and salmon outside were… warm. Not hot, but not cool like you would expect the fish to be. It certainly didnt taste like bad sushi, it was just not good in my mouth. No amount of wasabi or soy was helping this roll out. Finally, Feeling Crabby was delicious… for what it is. It’s half an avocado, not a quarter. There is spicy crab, but what they dont tell you is it’s a little bit of crab placed on top of a cup of shredded carrots, on top of the avocado. It was a tasty snack but for $ 7 I expected more than carrots. It was ok for happy hour. We would go back for a spicy roll and a beer. We certainly wont be ordering any specialty rolls again anytime soon. If it wasn’t located so close to home, we wouldn’t go out of our way to get here.

Out of town for business. I happened upon this place on Sunday because Geisha Sushi was closed. This place was around the corner. This place is a pretty good place. They have your basic nigiri and sashimi. They have a lot of unique rolls on the menu that sounds delicious. I had the Big Boss roll and it was very good and filling.($ 15.50) It came out in a god time, but I was in on Sunday, so it wasn’t busy. The roll was prepared well well and the presentation was clean and pleasing to the eye. The menu is moderately priced as any sushi bar goes. They also offer ramen and teriyaki from what I recall and have your basics for appetizers. I had the seaweed salad which was good, but the price of $ 5 seemed a bit steep. It would be nice if they have miso soup as a complimentary side instead of charging as a side. As for service, it was very friendly and attentive. No complaints here. That made up for the off putting atmosphere. As for atmosphere, it felt a bit off. The place is clean and comfy, but it felt like a late night R&B club with the low lights and red strobe light effects. There is R&B music on the speakers, which I have no problem with. It was nostalgic, but surprising. It just felt off place for a Sunday afternoon. If it was night time and packed, it would work. I didn’t sit at the regular bar or sushi Bar, but it looks very nice. They also have a few TVs showing sports, so that’s a plus. I would definitely give this place another go to check out their other rolls.

My girlfriend and I just ordered from here for the first time as this location is relatively new. We’ve never tried any of the other locations but if the Downtown restaurant is any indication we probably don’t want to. We both ordered the Japanese chicken ramen with a side of fried gyoza to split between us. We were genuinely excited as there are no restaurants in the area that we know of that serve traditional Japanese ramen, and needless to say we’re still on the hunt. The ramen was barely a step up from a Cup of Noodles brand microwave dish. The noodles were soggy and overcooked and the dish had little to no substance or taste. There were a few scraps of onion, a boiled egg, a few pieces of chicken and a ridiculous abundance of shredded carrots. It was absurdly overpriced for the awful quality, and anyone who has had real Japanese ramen would be ashamed to call this stuff ramen. Sadly the gyoza was not much better as it was rubbery and tasted frozen instead of fresh. We actually didn’t try their sushi because the menu was so eclectic. It was hard to find a roll that didn’t have asparagus, some form of fruit or jalapeño in it and none of that really struck our fancy. This place seems to have a distinct lack of traditional sushi if that’s what you’re looking for. If this is any indication of the rest of their menu we’ll be avoiding this place going forward. I’ll be amazed if they stay in business more than a year with Geisha Sushi and the Sushi Stall in the Charles St. foodcourt(EATS) right up the street; both of which have great food at the same price or less.

I ordered online via eat24 for delivery. at the time of my order, the only menu available to order from was the happy hour menu for some reason. Placed my order. 2 orders of salmon nigiri, 2 orders of hamachi nigiri, 1 tamago and 1 saba. 12 pieces of nigiri. I used am eat 24 coupon and my order came to $ 31.69. I received a phone call from the delivery girl as she was trying to find my place… she also asked if I had been called about the total being different, because I ordered off the happy hour menu. I had not. apparently my bill was actually higher, $ 40.04… and no coupon applied. I find that to be a little pricey for 12 pieces of nigiri… For instance, I was charged $ 6 for an order of salmon nigiri, which is the same price as Pabu… while the fish was of pretty solid quality, it is not the same quality as Pabu… All and all the sushi itself was solid, and I would probably have eaten there again. however, the handling of my order was sub par and I don’t know whether to blame the Sushi place or Eat 24…

Eating here now and I really think it’s some of the best sushi around. Service is an A+ and I highly recommend the spicy crunchy tuna sushi. They also deliver and being that I live a few blocks away I’ll be ordering here often.

I love the Fleet St location so I was excited to see they’d opened a new one by my place! I love the food. It’s just as good here. The ambience is way different. Like, the the Fleet St location is quiet and small. Cozy and relaxing. This location is… different. Neon lights and techno. A huge bar with lots of drinks and cocktails. And now that I know they’re here, I’m stoked they deliver, too!
