SpringHill Suites Baltimore Downtown/Inner Harbor

Came here for a quick visit. Nothing really negative to say here. Yes, it’s an older building and has been renovated… but this place is clean and simple. And when it comes to hotel rooms, cleaniness is most important to me. Customer service was pleasant. And what else could I ask for? I didn’t get a chance to see the gym which is one of the reasons why I booked this place.
So yeah, decent pricing considering the harbor, clean, simple, and good customer service… a Marriott fan? Then why not give this place a shot.

We stayed three nights here. I’ts a really old hotel that used to be a bank. I’m not usually a fan of these older hotels. This place is different. They can’t help that it is old. The remodeling job is great. The only place you really notice it is in the size of the hallways and the old elevators. The rooms are great. We had a suite, one of the nicer places I’ve stayed. Refrigerator and microwave in the room, great coffee choices. The room had two televisions, one for the bedroom and one for the separate living room. I own a cleaning company. I know clean when I see it. I travel a lot and am mostly disappointed with the level of cleanliness at most hotels. They have a great staff here. From the front desk to the cleaning staff all are very professional. Great valet parking attendants too.
I was walking around the downtown area looking for a Chinese place late at night so I called the front desk. The woman knew just where to send me and even knew when it closed. She gave me directions over the phone so I could walk right to it.
I’ll go back.

I stayed here for an entire weekend and for the three days I was a tenant in this hotel, there was no hot water available. The benefit of staying in a hotel is the ability to shower (obviously) and this hotel did not even have the courtesy to inform me of this ongoing issue upon check-​in. I was appalled at how the situation was handled not only during my stay, but after my stay. The hotel provided me with a minimal refund despite the huge inconvenience of not having the ability to shower. I would never stay in this establishment again. The management is shaky at best and the front desk people are clueless.

Cleanliness is not capitalized.
If the first what you see when you step in the bath room a dirty towel that hangs over the shower rod, then you has to ask yourself here the rooms are not controlled by the housekeeper supervisor.
If someone had checked the rooms, he also would notice the totally smeared mirror and that the front door had a similarly looked like the mirror.
Obviously, the Hauskeeper use a swab for everything.

Remnants of the guest he stayed before at this room was found at the moderately vacuumed carpet.
Positive is, the hotel is close to port and is centrally located
Negative is, there are homeless people everywhere. What however is not the fault of the hotel.

A little pricey, but clean and with a nice open lobby and dining area. Full breakfast (yogurt, sausage, eggs, coffee, etc) and free wifi. Places nearby didn’t have that. I enjoyed my stay and would return.

Quite a comfortable hotel and from the ninth floor, very little street noise made it up to here. The occasional slammed door made it through the walls but otherwise, it was very quiet.
The room had the same layout as other SpringHills where I have stayed. Two beds on one side of a half wall with a fold-​out sofa and work desk on the other side. Small fridge and microwave with coffee service. Clean bathroom with tub/​shower plus a separate vanity area. Armoire rather than closet, with a folding ironing table. Two TV’s in the room (one for each side of the half-​wall). Internet was easy to access and worked quite well.
Market in the lobby has snacks and drinks. Breakfast is served in the morning with the usual scrambled eggs, meat, bread/​bagels for toasting, fruit, yogurt, etc.
$ 32/​day for valet parking. Yikes!

I have stayed here a few times on work trips in the king suite. The suites have a fridge and a microwave and are overall very well decorated. The front desk staff has always been friendly and helpful. There is no hotel-​specific parking, so they encourage valet parking which is over $ 30 per day. I usually choose to park on the street. My one pet peeve is that they do not provide lotion with the toiletries. The breakfast buffet has a good selection of average food. It is not impressive but it gets the job done. If you are on the lower floors, noise can be an issue. Overall, the hotel is great.

Stayed there for one night. Long time since I was in a hotel that allowed smoking, and on top of that it would appear that I got bitten by bedbugs or similar creatures — any bare skin was covered in bite marks the following day. However, there was free WiFi and OK breakfast, but I will think twice before I go back to this place.

Room was excellent, the staff was friendly and accommodating. The location was convenient to my conference and the amenities were far superior to my colleagues at the host hotel. Also, the room was cheaper than the blocked rooms at the host hotel. Overall I would recommend this hotel again and will stay there again if/​when I return to Baltimore

This hotel is both historic and in a great location. The building is lovely (check out the vault gone conference room in the basement), the breakfast is plenteous (though not as much as an Embassy Suites or other upscale locations), and the cleanliness is good on the first night but the maids skip tasks and leave visible gaps in their cleaning if you stay more than one night. There is NO parking apart from Valet unless you’re willing to use public garages a block over in either direction (and those will be full if it’s a game night/​weekend), so expect to spend an additional $ 35+ per night in Valet fees and have a 30 minute wait to pick up your car upon request. If you’re walking to attractions, this is a 4 star; otherwise, it’s a 3.

Our water went out again — the damned polar vortex, same as last year, only our plumber was unfortunately out of town on vacation. Gah! So we had no choice but to stay in a hotel for a couple of days, and I went on Priceline in desperation to try and get something of a good rate. This was the hotel it picked, and I must say that, for the money I paid (61 a night), it was WELL worth the price.
It’s a Marriott, first of all, which I’ve always had a bit of luck with. The room (204) was VERY spacious — a separate «sitting room/​office» combined with the bedroom made for a LOT of room. Two flat screen TVs? Well, I don’t know what one would do with that, especially when they’re right next to one another, but it was a help when my husband wanted to sleep and not be disturbed, so I was okay with that.
The Wifi is complimentary and runs VERY nicely. I had a paper for grad school due this weekend, so that came in VERY handy. No interruptions, and plenty fast enough. I was very pleased.
Complimentary continental breakfast in the mornings (7:30 to 10am on weekends). The offerings were actually quite generous, much more so than most other hotels. They had a choice of hot oatmeal, make-​your-​own waffles (with toppings, yet), eggs, sausage/​potato/​pepper medley, all types of pastries, plenty of juice and coffee available, yogurt, cereal… really, it was much more than I’d expected, and it was all pretty good. I don’t know what people are expecting from a hotel-​provided breakfast — this isn’t going to be Miss Shirley’s quality. It was good enough for me.
Laundry facilities here, and that was REALLY handy for me, since we weren’t able to wash clothes at home. 2 bucks a shot for a big washer or dryer, and they’re efficient. Laundry supplies are available at the front desk for a buck a pop. Worth it to me, I want clean clothes.
Exercise room/​gym available. Weight room is a bit skimpy — ONE machine! — but it’s multi-​functional and gets the job done. Cardio room is equipped a little better, though if it’s busy you won’t get a machine. I went at 3:45am to exercise and it was blissfully silent. Well, except for the horrible squeaking from the elliptical that I could hear through my headphones, but hey — it’s there, it works, it’s available. I won’t complain.
A couple of negatives, though they’re minor:
— I don’t know what it’s like on other floors, but the 2^nd floor is extremely close to the street and therefore you can hear people yelling quite clearly. I was woken on Sunday morning by the people shoveling the snow off the sidewalks outside. I know they have to get it done, but for Pete’s sake, it’s Sunday morning. Be aware of the noise factor — if you wake up when a pin hits the floor, you may want to avoid the lower floors altogether.
— It was a little loud in the «office». Some kind of rhythmic humming going on in there that, quite frankly, drove me batshit. (Although it’s oddly soothing at night, like white noise. Put me right out.)
— Walls are paper-​thin. You WILL hear people talking/​yelling/​arguing next door if they’re particularly loud/​inconsiderate.
— No direct way to the basement where the exercise room/​laundry/​conference rooms are but for one elevator, and it doesn’t always come. You have to take the stairs the rest of the way down, which was okay by me, but if you’re disabled or have limited mobility it may be a pain in the neck/​impossible to navigate.
The bank vault/​conference room is AWESOME, by the way. Beautiful architecture. They just don’t make ‘em like that anymore.
We had a good stay here. Don’t know if I’d pay full rate (120 a night? Ehhh…), but for 61 a night in dire circumstances, unbeatable.

I really enjoyed my stay here at the Marriott Springhill Suites. My room was spacious — and I mean spacious (compared to NYC «suites»)
It was clean, comfortable and cozy. The architecture of the hotel is gorgeous. It was an old postal office/​bank and I love the fact they kept some of those vintage pieces like the mail chute and vault.
I didn’t make it to the continental breakfast they serve so I can’t review that but overall it was an awesome stay.

I came here for Otakon 2014. While the walk was a bit more of a hike than I would have preferred, the customer service was simply amazing. Because this hotel is small the employees go out of their way for you. I would absolutely stay here again if given the opportunity

SMALL BUT CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS INCREDIBLE:
Stayed here this weekend for a bachelor party. There were some pros and cons but the customer service we received was the tipping point.
LOCATION: (Grade: B) — Hotel is in a fairly nice neighborhood. About 3 blocks from some of the filth. The location is about 2 blocks from the inner harbor which is close to The Gallery, Cheesecake Factory, Hooters, Phillips, etc. Close to nightlife with bars and POWERPLANT Live within blocks. Also about 10 blocks from Camden Yards. There is a valet park overnight option for $ 30 which seems steep — or you can walk 5 blocks and pay $ 25 for overnight.
HOTEL AND AMENITIES: (Grade B-​) — The room was somewhat spacious but on the smaller side. The building itself is smaller. Beds were comfy. Clean. Neat. Free continental breakfast with eggs and some waffles — eggs were runny — I’d clean that up to make it better.
EXPERIENCE: (Grade A+) — After eating we wanted to watch the O’s game but when talking with the manager Bryan MASN wasn’t offered. No Orioles game in Baltimore? However, he asked if he could make it up to us (5guys) and offered us 10 beers of our choice from the lobby convenience nook. WOW! IF I OWNED A HOTEL. I WOULD STEAL THIS GUY AND HIRE HIM!
Overall for $ 120 a night it was worth it and I would stay again.

I came a few weekends ago to celebrate my anniversary with my boyfriend.
Every person we encountered from the staff was very nice and helpful. The room was great and very comfortable. The location was also ideal as it was just a 10 – 15 minute walk from the restaurants and attractions we wanted to visit.
We took full advantage of the valet service which really comes in handy when we wanted to travel a little farther out of the inner harbor for restaurants or shops. Otherwise, we stayed local and walked.
The only thing that really interfered with my ability to give this place a 4 or 5 rating was that every night between 2 and 3 AM, a bar nearby would let out and loud obnoxious people would be screaming up and down the street. We were on the 6^th floor and found it unbearable. We considered calling down to the front desk but what could anyone really do?
I wish I could say that I’d stay here again as the staff was really very lovely but being woken up every night, unable to fall back asleep for a few hours negatively impacted our trip as we tended to sleep a bit later than expected and were a little grumpier. If we come back to Baltimore in the future, which I’m sure we will, I think we’d have to stay somewhere that’s not as densely populated.

The room — excellent. We had a nice corner suite on a high floor. There was plenty of space.
The location was also convenient, and within walking distance of many nice venues.
The breakfast… it is what it is. Bad enough to make this place lose a star. No excuses, but they need to be able to handle the late Sunday AM rush a little better.

We stayed here because we needed a hotel in Baltimore close to Federal Hill and Fells Point (where our friends live) and M&T Bank stadium. So this was it. We got a great deal through Travelocity and had no problem finding the hotel. Valet parking is a little steep at $ 32/​night but you do have unlimited in/​out privileges and when all is considered, it beats hoofing it to a garage only to schlep all your stuff back to the hotel. At any rate, the staff at this particular hotel is so friendly. From everyone from the valet, to the front desk, to the housekeeping staff and everyone inbetween, they were so friendly. No question was unanswered and no request too small.
This particular building is an old bank — I believe it was the bank that became the First Mariner bank. The Marriott bought the building in 2007 and began the conversion. It is important to note that the building and all of its charm was totally preserved throughout the entire process. First off, the chandeliers are still the original ones, the ceiling in the lobby is in great shape, the tables in the lobby are the old tables where you’d find bank deposit slips, there are gorgeous marble floors and stairs, there is a mail chute on every floor, but the crème de la crème is the bank vault. From the lobby, go downstairs and you’ll see the bank vault that was converted to conference rooms. Really cool and definitely worth it.
With that said, yes the building is rather old. However, we found our room to be spacious with a tiny «kitchenette» (sink and fridge), living room area, spacious bedroom, and an ample bathroom area. All in all, for the price we paid, it couldn’t be beat. But the only downside were the walls that were practically paper-​thin. We could hear full conversations from our neighbors — including the music, despite the waiver signed upon checking in refraining from «partying.» Especially on game day weekend, I can understand.
There is a small continental breakfast served each morning. Take it or leave it, but if you’re looking to grab some cereal, yogurt, milk, and coffee (in 16oz cups!), this is your best bet. There are also various breads, muffins, and croissants available. Eggs and sausage, too; but I skipped that.
The proximity to major attractions and the stadiums are great. The area around the hotel can be a little dicey, but we had no problem finding cabs and feeling secure.
Overall, I would certainly recommend staying here and will certainly keep this on my list for hotels to stay in next year.

I’ve stayed at many of the hotels in the Baltimore area and most of the chain hotels downtown. I checked in for several days with three coworkers and stayed a few nights here at the Spring Hill suites. We found the rooms very spacious and clean.
The front desk staff, the valets, and the other staff that we ran into in the hotel were very friendly and helpful.
This is a chain hotel with a little bit of character. My traveling companions and all I all have decided that we had an excellent stay here and will stay here again in the future. This is an incredible bargain — and bargains are harder and harder to find in Baltimore.

I stay at a whole lot of Marriotts, and this hotel is one of the better facilities that I’ve stayed at under the Courtyard/​SpringHill/​Residence Inn/​Fairfield banners.
The first, and probably the best, reason which sets it apart is that it’s unique — it’s not a cookie cutter hotel. The building was converted from an old bank to this Springhill Suites and it looks like it. They kept all of the charm and look and it all comes together nicely. You can even see the old bank vault if you walk downstairs (from the lobby). I posted a picture of it in case you want to check it out.
The second is the fact that it is a five minute walk from the Inner Harbor — FIVE MINUTES! Believe you me, I try not to patronize the chain restaurants there, but I sure love walking around the water, checking out the skyline, and visiting the aquarium. It’s beautiful.
The third takes into account the first two — the price. This hotel is cheap for what you get in the location get it in. Last year when I stayed there I paid $ 115/​night, and this year I paid $ 145/​night. C’mon now, those prices are awesome for only being two blocks from the Inner Harbor and staying at an attractive hotel.
The staff is very friendly and helpful, the happy hour specials at the bar cannot be beat (see my «tip»), the rooms are nice — two wall mounted flat screens, mini fridge, and microwave.
I have been staying here, and will continue to stay here on every trip to Baltimore.

Had a quick trip to BWI and had a 6am flight out. Picked this hotel and was ok with the pick. I prefer full service hotel, but ended up here. Nice people
