Savory and plentiful, Orioles Gyro is one of the best in the area. For 7bucks you get a container stuffed to the gills with goodness. Try the lamb and chicken mixed!

Ok… so this place is now called Oriole Kabob. I think that it’s affiliated with Oriole Pizza and Subs next door. Visited on a Saturday afternoon. Inspired by other reviews, I went with the gyro. I placed my order with the pleasant young man behind the counter and was told that it would be ten minutes, so I had a seat at a table occupied by a fly swatter and a dusty check pad. So, I guess this is a place where people usually get takeout. About seven minutes later, I had my gyro and was out the door. I have had many gyros before. But, maybe I’ve never had a real gyro until I’d had one from this place. There was lots of sauce, lettuce, cucumber, roasted red peppers, black olives and green olives on warm, soft bread. Very tasty. Usually, when ordering a gyro, I get lamb, lettuce, sauce and tomato. So, this was a pleasant surprise. Definitely not bad for $ 7. Not quite sure that I can accept anything less now. Thanks, Oriole Kabob, for raising my gyro standards.

Made a trek to get here cause Afghani kabob is usually head and shoulders above the rest. Went in, and noticed place was a little unkept but I said to myself, «hang in there, it probably will be good… remember its Afghani!». When my order came out it was with good bread, good vegetables, good rice, and seemingly good kabob. Into my third kabob piece, I heard a «CRUNCH!». What I spat out of my mouth was a bit surprising: It was a small rock! Pebble like mind you, just slightly smaller then a penny and about 2−3mm thick. Weird. Showed it to guy behind the counter and said«Its a rock…». Said he’d talk to guy in kitchen about it. Would have been really good but this was just odd and discomforting plus it really could have done damage to my teeth(luckily it didn’t). Ruined entire experience + huge not cool factor. Shoulda stuck with Panera bread.

Quick and fast Mediterranean cuisine. Own by a local guy that puts his heart and soul into his food. Try the shish Kabobs. They will melt in your mouth. I know this place used to get a lot of bad rep a couple of years ago, due to poor management from the previous owner and poor cooking. Well things have changed for the brighter end.

The chicken kabob is good. I usually stop by for a late nite snack of naan and chickpea curry. Some places I’ve visited served dry chicken but here offers juicy chicken! Lol

Chopaan Kabob was a pleasant surprise! We were in a hurry to catch a train at Penn Station, and came here because it’s a block away and didn’t have a huge line. It was fantastic! The prices are very reasonable, and you get huge servings of delicious food! We got the chicken tikka masala and the lamb tikka kabob. Both came with really good rice with carrots and raisins in it. The meat was very flavorful. And the naan was great! Service was quite fast too. I would definitely go there again.

I really enjoy this place! It’s not much to look at on the outside, but very nice and spacious on the inside. The gyro is about seven bucks, a reasonable price, but you get an unreasonable amount of food. The gyro is ENORMOUS. And delicious, for that matter. Also, the Greek salad is pretty impressive, I forgot the price but it was a pretty good value.

Loved it. We got the lamb gyro, ground lamb, and Greek salad. The Greek salad was loaded with lettuce, tomatoes, egg, onions, and feta(I asked for no olives). The gyro was the biggest I have seen, and it was delicious. The rice with the ground lamb was that great Afghan sweet rice. Also got the spinach side which looked weird but tasted great. The ambiance in this place leaves much to be desired but I don’t care. The food was excellent. The menu is Mediterranean and has a variety of middle eastern choices as well as ice-cream. Prices were cheap, $ 6 – 8 per meal. Enjoy!

(11/06/2010) Nice place to pick up a quick lunch, and it’s halal, if you’re interested. I’ve so far only tried the combo stew or kabob platters. Meat is well-seasoned; I’m a fan of kefta(basically meatballs), and lamb kabobs. The chicken dishes tend to be white meat and a little on the dry side, although, a smear in tikka masala makes them go down easier. What I really go for are the sides, which can rotate through the seasons, but usually are: Pumpkin(savory, sweet, tender) Spinach(«creamed» Afghan-style) Chick Peas(stewed with tomatoes) Lunch combos also usually come with a piece of crusty, yet fluffy in the middle Afghan bread to soak up all the lovely stew sauce and meat juices.

Food was decent, it is nice to change it up and get Mediterranean once in a while. But the food lacks zest, I found it to be a little flavorless. If you want ethnic, I would suggest Dukem Ethopian, its south a few blocks on Charles St., and hang a right on Chase St.
