I went here for a work happy hour and the service was very good. The waitress was super attentive and split the bill easily for us. I got the fried string beans and my friend got tater tots with cheese sauce; super tasty. I would like to come back and try the cheesesteak. Good experience.

Got a craving for a cheesesteak so I tried calling but it does to voicemail after 4 rings. Tried three more times and so result. Finally I reached someone and to my surprise they said I couldn’t place a to-go order. Are you kidding me??? How do you refuse the easiest type of business??? Are you so busy during football that you can’t take 2 minutes to punch some buttons on a screen. I guess they just don’t like to sell food. Idiots! Not going to your place anymore!

What a great time to be an Eagles fan in Baltimore! A full on Philadelphia Eagles crowd in a Baltimore pub and grill! Grant the Eagles didn’t play well to earn a win but the cheesesteak were a Philly original!

I’m hooked. Haven’t even gotten my food yet and they already have me. At hello. Playing Cat Stevens(wild world). Spending a warm November afternoon with my buddy Pop pop and PT. Enjoying some sushi and a salad. This place is definitely a go to. Just got my food. Spinach salad a bit smaller than usual and no warm bacon dressing. Bummer. Knocked two stars off. Still ok.

Listen up Philly people! Whoever said ‘moving to a new city alone is fun’ lied. It’s ok, you can stop pretending… I’ve been living and working in Baltimore for about four weeks now and, overall, it is not fun. There are moments, lessons, trips and even full days(occasionally) that are fun, yes. But on a scale of *Fun* to *Not Fun*, moving to a new city alone falls mostly on the Not Fun side. But then there are days like today. Today, I was in a real funk – feeling all sorts of homesick and lonely on my day off(shout out to my awesome Jew friends.) So I decided to check out a bar that is known as the Philadelphia Bar of Baltimore to watch tonight’s first Eagles game. As I walked to the bar in my one Eagles shirt, I was a little teary thinking of all my friends and fam back in PA watching the game together and enjoying fun festivities. I expected to arrive at the bar and meet a few Baltimore townies and meet some fellow Eagles fans. But what I got was a mob scene of people in eagles gear who welcomed me with open arms as I stepped lonely in the bar. I spent my evening drinking beer, eating a relatively authentic cheesesteak, and making a handful of friends who I expect I’ll see every week :) Tonight I wasn’t in a new city alone. I was home. Go to MaGerks.

I have yet to find a cheesesteak in Philly as good as the ones at Magerks. I love the egg rolls, sushi and chicken fingers too. There’s always a Deep Eddy’s special running.

Solid food, good beer specials… Too bad there were numerous drunk jackasses ruining the experience being loud and stumbling into our table.

Stopped by for a little snackie… sweet potato fries shared with a friend is always a good idea! The menu seems to have a decent variety. It looks like they’re known for their subs/cheesesteaks, so I’ll have to check them out another time. We came on a weeknight and sat at the bar, and it seemed to be a good kind of busy– not too crowded, plenty of room, but definitely filled with customers. There were 50 cent wings from 7 – 10PM but we didn’t try any of those. Gotta save something for next time!

Came with a few friends to take advantage of the $ 4.50 cheesesteak special on Thursdays, and also enjoyed the $ 2.50 domestic bottles. Food service was a little on the slow side, but the sandwiches were good and the drinks were handled quickly. Would definitely come back for a game or another night of cheesesteaks!

I had the philly cheese steak, which comes with a bag of chips and not fries. Nothing special but the atmosphere was great, staff was friendly.

While visiting a friend we stopped in here for a drink and some grub. The Gyros were really good. We also ordered the Pretzel with cheese and crab dip and it was awesome. I definitely recommend it. The staff was also very friendly.

I live in Brooklyn, but I have friends who live in the Baltimore Federal Hill area. They just love the food at Magerks Pub. So when my friend had a baby, I wanted to order a gift certificate from the Pub to give to my friend. The management was super helpful in arranging this. This establishment is just one more reason why small businesses are the best! The customer service here was fantastic — they set a high bar for their competition.

This review is only for a cheesesteak sub and the service I got. Went in on a lazy Saturday afternoon and my server was nice and pretty attentive. Overall, I was pleased. The sub on the other hand was nothing special at all except for the roll. Now, the roll was very fresh and had great texture. The rest of the sub was very lacking in flavor and wasn’t very hot at all when I got it. At $ 8.50, even if Federal Hill, it was also overpriced. After all the rave reviews I was very disappointed. I won’t be going back.

The bar scene in Federal Hill is a little crazy. There are so many different bars within a four block radius, how do you pick which one to watch the game at? If you’re an Ohio State fan or an Eagles fan, you’ll probably feel right at home at MaGerk’s. But if you’re just looking for some bar food and a beer, MaGerk’s is worth a visit. One of my friends loves Onion Rings and orders them almost every chance she gets. This particular evening at MaGerk’s was no exception. The onion rings came with a side of chipotle sauce which was delicious. My friends and I also shared an order of the Tater Tots. They came with a side of cheese and hot sauce. These were good, but nothing particular special. The next thing we ordered were the Eagle Wings. Compared to other wings I’ve had in Federal Hill, these were possibly the worst. They came out dry and could use some more sauce. Next time I’m in MaGerk’s I will skip ordering the wings. I heard that MaGerk’s was known for their cheesesteaks so my friends and I took advantage of two items on their menu. The first item we tried was the Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak Eggrolls. These were awesome, we ordered them with medium heat and they were delicious. They weren’t too fried and stuffed with plenty of buffalo chicken, onions and cheese inside. We also ordered the Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak. This was very similar to the eggroll unsurprisingly. But it was also delicious, and massive. When you order the buffalo chicken cheesesteak, you are given the option to choose mild, medium or hot for spiciness which will ensure that your cheesteak is as spicy as you’d like it. Next time I’m at MaGerk’s for an OSU game or just some great bar food, I will without a doubt be ordering a cheesesteak.

Cheesesteaks! Went here to watch the game. I was hesitant to order food because they were so busy. Wings were good. Drinks were decent and the cheese steak was like a real deal Philly hoagie. I will be returning on a night with specials. They have a different special daily.

Came back here a few weeks ago with some out of town friends to nurse a hangover. It was a beautiful day, so sitting at the bar with all the windows and doors wide open was ever so pleasant. Our bartender was fantastic. Very friendly and chatty, full of good suggestions and stories. She recommended the chicken cheesesteak with American cheese and she was not wrong. My entire life I’ve been eating cheesesteaks wrong, i.e. with provolone. Boy was I missing out. This cheesesteak was amazing. Toasty roll with soft insides, perfectly moist, thin sliced chicken, topped with ooey gooey American cheese that all melded together perfectly. I don’t even remember if the fries or onion rings were good, this sub was amazing. I have cheesesteak cravings regularly now. I had low expectations of this place from paint night and late night bar hopping, but don’t miss these cheesesteaks. Holy cow.

I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. BF had the cheesesteak, but he said it wasn’t greasy enough for him… go figure. The meat looked a little dry but the sandwich as a whole looked good to me. And for half price You really can’t go wrong in my opinion. I had the veggie burger and it was by far one of the best veggie burgers I have had. Waiter was cool and ESPN/sports were on… I’d go back but BF wasn’t impressed.

It’s your typical Fed Hill-esque sports bar. Came after the O’s game and it was hoping. They had food and drink specials, including half off burgers. However, they messed up my order and forgot to put avocado on my hamburger, which was a bummer. We also got the crab pretzel. It was decadent and an experience, but I probably wouldn’t bother to get it again, as it wasn’t that memorable. The beer and food is cheap though. It was also a nice touch that they had a lot of windows open since the weather was really nice! The music though was a bit too loud, particularly for a Sunday afternoon. I don’t live near Fed Hill, and I probably trek here just for this bar, but if I’m in the area and in need of a place to watch sports or drink on the cheap, I suppose I might return.

Magerks is a solid four stars. I can never remember how to spell it when I tell my friends to look up directions. I love the bar with the tv screens right there. It’s always fun meeting friends during the week when it’s not crowded and you and your friends make it a good time. It can get pretty crazy and crowded on the weekends and harder to get a drink or a good spot. I’ve never had their food but beers on tap are good :-)

Maybe I’m biased but being an Eagles and Ohio State Fan, this place is now my go-to sports bar in Baltimore. Definitely appreciate the homage to all the cheesesteak places in Philly(Jim’s, Pat’s, Geno’s, etc.). That being said, the cheesesteaks at Magerk’s are nothing to sniff at though. Decided to get the cheesesteak hoagie, which is different than my usual whiz wit, but had heard good things about the hoagie. Definitely meaty, and the bread has the right chew and toasted feel. Comes with Utz chips, so we also got an order of fries with it as well. Reasonably priced, and delicious. Pretty good selection of beers, and they also do have other food specials depending on the day(½ price burgers on Sunday), as well as bucket of beer specials. Gotta love that. My one qualm is how there are still bits of Ravens paraphernalia around the bar. C’mon son. Ravens can have the other thousand bars in the city for that. Let us have this one. Make sure you get here early on gameday, because even though there is a large downstairs and upstairs space, it gets packed pretty quickly. I was surprised at how many Eagles fans were in the area, but am definitely not one to complain.
