Perhaps the worst breakfast sandwich ever made. C’mon Java Moon, a breakfast sandwich is just not that difficult to make! Unfortunately the only choice at the station for something other than bagel or donut. Never again!

Still not stellar, but things have definitely improved here since my last review. I was desperate for a hot cup of coffee, and the Dunkin Donuts line was simply too busy — I would miss my train if I’d tried to wait. So it was either go without coffee(not a good idea), or go back to Java Moon. I admit that I wasn’t looking forward to the prospect. To my delight, I was greeted quickly AND pleasantly by the counter person, who guided me toward a hot breakfast sandwich that I didn’t even know I wanted but suddenly felt a craving for. The cashier was also very nice and courteous, pouring hot coffee and talking about the improvements that they’d made to the place. And, it’s obvious they have. The interior is a LOT fancier than I remember it to be. Brighter, too. The food honestly still isn’t that great, but it’s better than the last time, and it seems to be more reasonably priced, too. My coffee and sammich was a 5-spot and some change, about on par for a train station convenience spot. They’ve DEFINITELY improved customer service, though, and that’s where the extra star comes in. Miles better than the last time I was here. I’ll probably grab some coffee here on occasion.

This place is like the bar at a bowling alley — great for people watching and cheap beer, but not a place for dining or a date. Nevertheless, the service here is quick, and you can always make some friends rubbing elbows with the DC/Bmore MARC jetsetters loosening their ties and skirts at the bar. The best part: their happy hour. $ 2 Yuenglings and $ 3 rail drinks will make that grind on the train a little smoother.

For a train station restaurant, this place isn’t bad. The line is usually shorter than the Dunkin Donuts, so I stopped in for breakfast. My muffin had bacon, egg, and cheese on it and I found it to be good. Nothing special, but satisfying nonetheless. Prices are affordable and there isn’t as much mark up as I expected.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch since we had an hour wait. He had a bacon cheeseburger. It was huge — fresh lettuce and tomato. It was cooked to perfection! But the best was their jambalaya! Just the right amount of hot sauce so you could taste the meat and beans and rice without being overwhelmed by the spiciness. The guys at the counter were friendly and personable. I wish I lived closer! I would come often!

Decent selection, reasonable prices. A chef salad to take on the train was fresh and just what I needed. Glad they were open Sunday morning also.

Java Moon? Make u howl at the moon. A lack of communications skills from a well meaning cashier and a miserable attitude from the«cook» who doesn’t get all the orders spelled disaster for this hungry traveler. The microwaved chicken breast lacks any flavor or seasoning. But hey /the sliced tomato was excellent. It’s a sad spot so if u need some grub before the train, you are better served by the Dunkin Donuts. Really. If u need a beer, less risky to try bottle beer versus those taps. Enjoy!

I was at the Penn station this morning to catch the Marc train to DC. Since a friend gave me a gift card to use at this place, I figured now is a good time to put it to use due to the franchise’s limited number of location. When I was about to checkout, the cashier told me that they dont do gift cards. I was dumbfounded since it was clearly written on the back of the card that its usable at ALL location. If yall are offering gift card services, make sure you have the system for it! I can’t believe that even your cashier has never seen your café’s gift card… So I spent $ 3.29 for the bacon, egg, and cheese muffin & $ 1.79 for the hot chocolate. The muffin was too salty for my liking, but the hot chocolate hit the right spot.

Coffee sucks, bagels are not fresh, cream cheese comes in a cup(generic)… And they had the nerve to try and charge me for a second cup. Ten dollars for two bagels and a small coffee. GOTODUNKIN’

Over priced. Prepare to pay $ 1.05 for an extra tiny cup of cream cheese for your not so fresh bagel. And does the heat work in this place???

With specials such as $ 2.00 Yuengling & Half Price Rail Drinks Monday — Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 9:00PM& Thursday-Sunday From Noon to 9:00PM Java Moon Café has become my pre-gaming spot. I was recently here on a Sunday with a group of friends. The bartender was hilariously engaging, the drinks were strong and a good time was had. For those who opt not to have a liquid lunch, they have a kitchen that whips up delicious burgers and standard bar fare. If you’re ever at Penn Station or just in the neighborhood stop in. At the very least you’ll walk out with a nice buzz and a smile. Will embibe again.

Awful service, awful food. No one to order something fresh from the grill. Picked up a premade sandwich and my advise is If that’s your only option, go hungry.

Having read the reviews from others I’m happy to report that service at the bar remains very pleasant. Food service is a little slow but the food is quite good.

Decent café that caters towards travelers who want a quick bite while waiting for their train to depart. I’m not quite sure why there is even a staff of about four when the place is small and easily manageable(in my opinion) with one guy. The café serves your basic American dishes like chicken tenders, cold sandwiches, hot dogs, and burgers. It’s also a place where you can pick up some munchies like chips, nuts, and candy. I ordered a cheese burger combo for about $ 9 which included curly fries and a 16 oz. soda(free refills). The cheeseburger was quite delicious and definitely hit the spot since I was famished. The fries were decent and comparable to Jack-in-the-box(not sure if there are any in the East Coast). The gentleman taking my order was really cordial and friendly, which I subtly appreciated. Some of the prices for the other items are a bit high, but you are paying for the convenience. Not too shabby.

All the stars I gave are for Ralph the bartender. A great personality and always a positive attitude. Stopped before catching my train home. They had great happy hour specials of $ 2 Yuenglings and $ 2.50 well drinks($ 3.50 for a double). Their menu was reasonably priced, but I didn’t have enough time or appetite to try their food. Maybe next time.

Breakfast Sandwich Warning: insist on freshly made. The one I’m trying to eat now from the heat lamp is hard as a brick. Vile. If they refuse to make one fresh for you, maybe order something they don’t have already made up, dying a putridly salted, microwave’s death. Only reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is I’m a tea drinker and they have a good selection. But that breakfast sandwich … ?! Wow. If there’s a worst of Baltimore, we have a winner.

Only four beers on tap but still a pleasant spot to wait for a train. The bartenders are very friendly and efficient. Prices are pretty good, certainly not an airport markup. Also has a small deli counter with sandwiches, snacks, soft drinks and juices. Free wi-fi.

Now I know ppl say the breakfast sandwich’s are great but I went for lunch. The cook was awesome and really did try making me a great chicken bacon ranch sandwich with what he had to work with but… Expect the microwaveable bacon and a frozen chicken breast. Still hit the spot before having to run for a bus. Prices are a bit steep for what they offer. For a chicken sandwich, curly fries and a small drink it was 9.78. Quality wise maybe 5 ish would be better but just like the cook, you work with what you have.

This place looks nice so I thought I’d give it a try on a frantic rainy day on my way to catch the train… big mistake. it only had Premade food like the others have said but I was desperate so I grabbed a wrap, a fruit cup, a perrier water and when I went to pay and asked for a latte, the owner literally groaned at me. I was way too out of it to even register it but I literally was like wtf this is not happening as it was happening… he had his worker make the latte. and so after I had bought like 20 bucks worth of food… I had to ask for a bag from him… and later a fork from his worker. after i paid I went to the nearly empty place to sit down for a bit, but then I saw the owner peer out and basically wonder why he had no customers basically. I was literally getting Bad vibes from this man so I took my overpriced bag of food and went elsewhere in the station. I hope this place closes down and something nicer takes its place.
