Typical Doctors office who is solely intrested in maxing out your Insurance. I went in for a physical because I had some side pains. Had blood work done and was recommended a CAT scan and xrays. I recieved a call from the labs telling me everything came back normal. A few days later I recieved another call saying I need another follow up appointment. I questioned why if they had already called me and told me everything was normal. I said if anything was urgent then yes I would take the time from my Crazy busy work schedule but if not, mail me the results. I was told they would call me back. They did call me back and said the Doctor wants a follow up. I showed up 15 before my scheduled appointment and waited nearly 2 hours to be seen. Again everything was normal and the pains were due to my lower back. Was not given copies of my Xrays for second opinions or treatment plans. No need for a follow up. Just fish oil was prescribed… Really. $ 1,100 plus in charges with a guess of the reasons for my symptoms and no treatment. But yet they wanted a follow up appt four months later… for what? Oh yeah, bill me and my insurance again. Please find another place, save yourself the hassle, and recieve real treatment. Good Luck!

Since Dr. Nichols no longer spends time in this office the quality of care has taken a nosedive. Unless you are prepared to spend half your day waiting to see an intern go somewhere else.

My first visit with this office started a bit ruff. I came in with an attitude and the expectations of being jerked around since that what I was used to with Kaiser. Once I saw the doctor and we spoke I was impressed by his honesty and willingness to allow me to yes or no to certain treatment options and discuss/explain why he thought these best. While sometimes the wait can be a bit long depending on the time of day and if it’s flu season, 99% of the time I am able to get a same day appointment and am seen very quickly. I also like that they do so many things in house and work with a lab facility on site which is ultra convenient. I have been a patient for almost 2yrs now and would be elated to never have to switch to another GP again.

Dr Nichols is one of the best Dr’s in Bakersfield. If you don’t see that, then you weren’t listening. Both PA’s are excellent as well.

The two Physician assistants here are excellent(Trevor & Haley). They always seem to work me in and take care of any needs I have. Also, the front desk Gal’s are super friendly and have had to work out some complicated situations with my insurance with no problem.

Two years ago, my Mother’s heart doctor referred her to see Dr. Nichols to discuss her rising blood sugar levels. During the first visit, he told her that she would need heart surgery within months regardless of what she did and she was to start taking a number of diabetes medications. My Mother left his office scared and confused because her heart doctor told her that her heart was doing well. She also mentioned how near death all the other patients looked. I had her go to a doctor up near me and she had never been healthier. She never had to go on any diabetes medication and hasn’t had a blood sugar reading over 120 in two years. Her A1C levels are perfect, and no Dr. Nichols, she did not have to have heart surgery. Sorry. If you want your loved ones to get better, don’t send them to him. BTW, her heart doctor was so upset by what had happened with my Mother’s initial appointment, he never referred another patient to Dr. Nichols. He is very impressed with her health improvements and communicates regularly with my Mother’s doctor up here in San Francisco.
